THEY THINK YOU ARE MADE OF STONE | THAT JUST MEANS YOU AREN'T AFRAID OF MAKING THE TOUGH CHOICES | TAGGED
| Polis was Lexa’s home, but uniting the clans was an effort that took more than words. Sometimes even the flame couldn’t convince her people to follow her—but shows of force were always beneficial. The edges of the glowing forest were playing host to two groups of rebellious forces from the plains to those who had been exiled. With her army in tow, Lexa rode through the glowing forest, brushing the bright blue butterflies away from her face as the horse rode on. They were prettier than the flies of Polis, but still annoying.
She eyed the village they were approaching with a curious frown. This was supposedly where their leader could be found. Lexa hoped she could persuade their leader to sacrifice some of their warriors for an assault. Truthfully the commander wanted this to be over. Fast. It was a long ride home. The longer this went on, the weaker the coalition appeared.
“Ai lufa au wocha Malia kom Trishanakru,” Lexa called—she’s looking for chief Malia. There were many faces that had emerged from the village home to look at the commander and the forces she brought. “Weron em?” as she dismounted, three of her closest guards followed. An older woman with seven black ink spots down her face pointed towards a tent. It appeared to be a healing tent... Perhaps she had wounded warriors. “Mochof,” she replied with a stoic look as she marched towards the tent.
She pushed it open in one flourished motion and looked around—unsure of who Malia was right away before an image was given to her. The spirit within her guided her towards the woman. “Wocha Malia kom Trishanakru—we have matters to discuss. We’ve come to aid in the attacks on your western borders, but I’d like to speak to you privately.” Her thickly lined eyes looked around the room. Her English was to keep the conversation as limited as possible. She didn’t ask if it was a good time. She told her.... Despite her calm, this was serious.

Malia did not look up at first when she heard someone enter the room. She had been busy checking on her warriors who had been injured in the several attacks they had. She heard people moving around her, however, so she turned to look. She was surprised to see the Commander standing there, since she hadn't thought any of this was extreme enough to involve her. "Heda," she greeted her, dipping her head respectively. For a split second when she had seen her, she had been worried that her visit was about something else, but was reassured when the Commander spoke of the attacks. She knew that no one else but herself knew of her secret plans of attacking Azgeda, but she still had gotten worried over it. Not that she was certain that she'd ever put her plans into action.
She nodded to what the Commander had said. "We can discuss it in the Main Chambers, then," she said, speaking of the long hut that the village used to gather and discuss important matters. She told her healer that she would be back later and led Lexa and her warriors to the Main Chambers. She didn't take a seat at the table that was there once they got there, since she disliked sitting still when she was going over something particularly stressful and important. She was glad that they had come to help them with the attacks, since they could use the help. As much as she disliked to admit it, Trishanakru's army was not the strongest. They did not have as many warriors as the others did, since they were a particularly peaceful group with mostly farmers to make it up.
Since Lexa had said that they would discuss this in private, she assumed that the guards that the Commander had with her would wait outside, but since she was so important, they would most likely stay with her. She understood that, and Lexa could have meant only that Malia herself would not bring anyone with her.
Malia was not sure what to think of the Commander. She greatly respected her, but also found her particularly intimidating. She was not used to being around a person of a higher status than her, and had not been around the Commander much at all to know what she was like. She heard from other people that she was cruel, but it was against Malia's beliefs to judge someone before she had met them.

THEY THINK YOU ARE MADE OF STONE | THAT JUST MEANS YOU AREN'T AFRAID OF MAKING THE TOUGH CHOICES | TAGGED
| Lexa followed Malia into the long wooden house closely. Before entering, she waved off all but two of her guardsmen. She didn’t need a large audience, but she would never enter without some form of protection. Or at least, witnesses to things gone wrong.
Malia had seemed a little worried the moment they locked eyes, but she imagined that it had to be a little worrisome to have the commander ‘drop by’. Lexa knew nothing of the plans against Azgeda. If she wasn’t working so hard for the coalition perhaps she would have joined forces. They were the 12 clans, though... So if she found out, Malia would be executed.
She looked around the homey surroundings before her gaze fell back onto the cheif.
“I’m sorry that we couldn’t come sooner. There were conflicts in the north that we needed to...” she frowned a little, not wanting to discuss mountain men issues with those far enough south to avoid the hoards of reapers and acidic fog. “In such large numbers we were slowed,” considerably, she thought to herself as she trailed the tips of her fingers along a side table.
“How many have you lost?” Exiled kyongedon were violent and often desperate, especially when they came from neighbouring clans.

"I understand," Malia said, and she meant it. "We did not expect you to come at all, so I am grateful that you have." She kept an even gaze on her face, not wanting the Commander to know the jumble of emotions that were constantly fighting for control in her head. She did not want her to think that she was emotionally imbalanced or weak.
"35," she informed her. "That was mostly in the beginning, before we could react. I have evacuated the villages closest to the border, and place traps around them. They would be more likely to come and fall into our traps if we are not around, I think," she told her.
Someone entered the Main Chambers, talking Malia's attention away from Lexa. It was Mikah, Malia's most trusted warrior and second-in-command of Trishana. "Oh. I did not know..," he stammered slightly when he saw Lexa and her guards, surprised that the Commander was there. He had thought that it was someone else who was here when he had seen the guards outside, and he would have never thought that it was the Commander who had come. "Heda," he greeted her, not wanting to be rude.
"What is wrong, Mikah?" Malia asked, concerned. "Is it important?" She did not want Lexa to feel offended by Mikah interrupting their meeting.
"It is, but...it can wait until you are finished... I guess. You are... not going to be long, are you?" he asked a bit anxiously, which told Malia that it was serious.
"What is it, Mikah?" she asked, her brows furrowing in worry and concern.
"Maisha's been coughing again." he admitted. "Falcon says that is it bubbling up in her chest, which means that she has an infection in her lungs." Maisha was his lover, and one of the warriors Malia was fairly close to.
"Did Falcon give Mai her medicine?"
"Yes, but it hasn't helped," he said, worried about Maisha.
"Has he elevated her upper body? That should help clear her chest a bit, and keep her from choking," she said, trying to find a solution. Mikah nodded, shuffling his feet awkwardly since the Commander was right there.
"Get her to go through her exercises. Staying still will not help her."
"She has done it a while ago, but when we tried to get her to do them, she complains that she is too tired," he told Malia, worried. Malia frowned, thinking about a solution. While she wasn't a healer, she had been training to be one before she had switched to becoming a warrior, and instead worked towards becoming leader of Trishanakru. She was helping with the warriors who had been injured in the attacks, however, since the healer was overwhelmed with all of the wounded.
"He has been reluctant to help her. He thinks that she is a waste of resources and will not get better. He thinks that she is not worth it, even if she survives, since she will no longer be able to be a warrior. He says that we should relieve her of her suffering." Mikah told her about Falcon. Malia had had to talk to the healer about this before, since she believed in the value of every life and did not think that someone was worthless even if they were disabled. She was insistent that they would do everything they could to help Maisha get better, but the warrior was not doing very well.
"Make sure he does his best to heal her," she told him. "I will speak to him about it later. For now, try to get Maisha to go through her easier exercises. I will go check on her later. Tell Falcon to mix the Juniper with Mullein and see how that works. I will update her medicate afterwards."
"Yes, Wocha," Mikah said, and he bowed to Lexa before leaving the Main Chambers, feeling a bit calmer now that Malia had provided them with a solution, even if it was temporarily. He was glad that Malia refused to let anyone die, even if they were not looking as if they would get any better.
"I apologize for the disruption," she said to Lexa apologetically.
