Shaw had to really conceal the relief that flooded his body when they found out the missiles hadn't hit the people they were aimed at. They had been warned. Murphy made it work . . . Raven's plan had worked. He could practically feel Mcreary's eyes upon him, but instead, just returned to the ship where they were still holding Raven prisoner. He had taken it upon himself to be the one to deliver food and water to her. After all, Diyoza knew her value and she was better off alive than dead. That, and she knew that he had developed some form of rapport with Raven. The depth of it, was still unknown to the others.
That he had actually worked with them and releasing Murphy, was all part of the grand plan. Still. Though he was going to try to look out for her, there was only so much he could do. He couldn't help but . . . admire her. Be in awe of her and her skills. Carrying a plate he cast a look at the guard outside her door, and made his way in with a plate in one hand and a cup in the other. He made his way to the woman, handing her the plate and crouching in front of her so he could speak low enough for her to ear, and no other's ears to listen. "They're alive."

Raven's fingers traced the edge of the collar for what felt like the millionth time. It must have been hours since Shaw left with Murphy. At least it felt that way...maybe longer. Groaning in frustration she kicked the edge of the metal seat. This waiting was torture. Almost worse than the actual torture these asshats had put her through. Her knee bounced beneath the elbow she left resting on it. Who knew if her plan even worked. Murphy could be dead right now. They all could be. And for all she knew, Raven could be next. No. She couldn't think like that. The plan would work.
It had to.
It just sucked that she had to rely on one of them to get them out of this mess.
As soon as she heard the door begin to open, Raven stilled her knee, breathing deeply. If it was anyone but Shaw, she had to be ready. She wasn't going out without a fight. Relief flooded her for a moment when she recognised him. Reluctantly she accepted the plate and set it aside. There were more important matters. Just as she was about to bombard him with questions, he spoke.
She finally released the breath she hadn't realised she'd been holding since he walked in. "Of course they are," she replied with false confidence. Though the sheer relief was clear in her tone. "It was my plan," she added with a raised eyebrow. A dig at his earlier suggestion that would've gotten all of her people killed. The fact that he suggested a plan at all still confused her. He confused her. "Hope you're not still expecting a thank you." She still didn't understand why he wanted to help at all, and that annoyed the hell out of her. Sure, he wasn't like the prisoners, but that was about all she knew.
"So you gonna do something about this or what," she said, her fingers at the collar again. She knew he couldn't take it off her without raising suspicion, but maybe they could find a way to disable it?

That cocky air about her was . . . endearing, if nothing else. It only made Zeke slightly scoff as he let out a short breath. "A nod of appreciation will do," he joked, knowing he wouldn't get that either. And quite frankly, he wasn't doing it for the gratitude. He was doing all this, because his moral conscience wouldn't allow otherwise. He had seen what these guys were capable of. And he refused to partake in those kinds of activities. Whoever he could help in the process, he would. He glanced at the metal collar around her neck before meeting her gaze once more. "I can't," he told her. But of course, that didn't mean he didn't want do. He had seen the way they used it on Clarke. Raven. And probably Murphy too, if he tried to get too far from them.
"Not yet," he added on, wanting her to know that it wasn't going to stay on her forever. Or well, hopefully not. Shaw would find a way to get it off, but he couldn't do that now without risking suspicion. "McCreary is already suspicious. We can't risk it." That her collar somehow stopped working. Chances were, McCreary wasn't even done with her. Which was why Zeke was taking responsibility for her, and could only hoped that Paxton was distracted with other things. "You should eat," he encouraged, motioning to the plate she had set aside.

She huffed in frustration at his refusal to help her, though she knew realistically why he couldn’t. It was too risky, for both of them. And she still needed him if she had any hope of getting out of here and back to her people. “Well you’re not the one getting zapped every time that psychopath wants to get his jollies,” she still replied through gritted teeth. She was allowed to be annoyed.
A stubborn part of Raven wanted to refuse the food but who knew how long they’d even feed her. Stubbornness wasn’t a luxury she could afford right now. Reluctantly she reached for the plate, looking away from him as she ate. After the day she’d had, Raven didn’t exactly have much of an appetite. But the water. She downed half the contents of the flask in one go.
Wiping her mouth she leaned down on her knees to be at level with Shaw once again. “What’s your deal anyway?” She knew it could possibly be a bad idea to interrogate the only guy that was keeping her alive, but Raven was nothing if not a risk taker. “I know you’re the pilot, and from what I saw in the captain’s log, that makes you the only guy here with half a brain to hack into the systems on the ship in space. So I know that was you.” A valiant effort, but no match for her of course. “Cute try by the way,” she added, mocking him as she leaned back.

That much was true. It wasn't Zeke who was getting electrocuted. But, it only made him more motivated to try to stop it. "Trust me, there are worse things that he could be doing. At least you're still alive." McCreary wasn't exactly one to . . . hold back. It had literally taken a gun pointed at his head to stop him. And Zeke knew full well that this wasn't going to be something that the man would soon forget. Fortunately, Shaw's role among the others was valuable enough to make him untouchable to Diyoza . . . but he knew that even that was temporary. It was only a matter of time until these guys weren't easy to control. Which was also why Zeke needed to have an alternative option.
Zeke gave half a smirk at her taunt. "I haven't come across someone who could override my attempts," he told her, not to feed the ego but . . . the fascination with the other was mutual. Being cocky himself though, Zeke knew how his words could be taken. "You definitely have skills." There was a tease in his voice but this was the first and most real conversation they were having and Shaw found himself actually enjoying it. It was refreshing to talk to someone who wasn't a serial killer. "What was your job among your people?" That caused her to have such expertise.

She shuddered at the thought of what else that man, McCreary could possibly do to her. She wasn’t a stranger to torture. An unfortunate truth to surviving this long. But these men were cold hearted killers. Shaw was right. And from what she’d learned from their files…they could do a lot worse than a couple bursts of electricity.
She left a hint of a smug smile on her face at his compliment. She didn’t need his validation but that didn’t mean it wasn’t nice to hear. “And you weren’t…terrible.” Truthfully, the challenge had been unexpected at every turn, almost exhilarating if the prospect of almost dying or killing a couple hundred people hadn’t been looming over her. She didn’t think there was anyone left alive that could possible share, let alone rival her technological skills. It’s why she’d been working so hard to train Emori. In this world, with all the people she’d lost, surviving was never a sure thing.
She didn’t miss his not so casual dodge of her question as he turned it around on her. So he wasn’t an open book. Fine, she’d get it out of him sooner or later. Maybe she just needed to change tactics. “I was the youngest Zero G mechanic in…” she trailed off. “Doesn’t matter anymore I guess.” That life felt like a lifetime ago. “But I’m good with tech…really good,” she said with a smirk. “I can fix-up almost anything,” she added, hoping he'd give her some information in return. Her mind trailed off to the rover. She wondered if any of it survived Praimfiya.
She hoped so.

That same small smile continued to play upon his features, hearing her words. "Not terrible," he repeated with a slight tease. "I'll take it." It may be the nicest thing she had to say about him after all, given the current circumstances and the fact that he was technically on the other side. He damn well wished he could change that but . . . it wasn't happening any time soon. He instead focused on the answer to her question, hearing her explain how she was the youngest in her field, and that she was good with tech. "Yeah I didn't expect anyone could do that." Genius, he had called her and he meant it. "Counter my own skills I mean," he added on, elaborating on what he meant. "Diyoza's going to try to use you," he practically warned. "She sees the value in what you can do. So if its any consolation, no one's gonna be killing you any time soon." Apart from the fact that he wouldn't let it happen . . . he also knew that she could prove to be useful to the others.
But making her do it of course, was an entirely different issue. And Zeke inwardly cringed to think of what that would entail. He fell silent, knowing without her saying that there was now the expectation that he would return the favour. "They agreed to keep me alive if I joined them." That was the easiest, most simplistic way he could put it. "I was a space explorer, wanting to uncover the mysteries of the universe." His lips curved into a very light smile, eyes breaking contact from hers as he thought back to such a time. A time that felt like forever ago. Snapping out of it he pulled himself back into the harsh reality of their lives. "Pretty damn naive of me isn't it," he asked rhetorically.

She chuckled coldly at his words. Like she should take comfort in the knowledge they’d try to use her against her people. At least it meant more time for her to figure out a way to get out of this dump. “That bitch has another thing coming if she thinks I’m going to help her kill my friends.” She said defiantly. And Raven meant every word. With Murphy gone now, they had no leverage to hold over her head. She just hoped to every force in the universe that he’d stay that way. They could do whatever they wanted to her, she thought bitterly. Raven could almost guarantee she’d been through a hell of a lot worse.
She listened intently as he explained his backstory. It was still vague, and some of it she already knew from his file. But he was talking to her and that was something. Though she was reluctant to admit it, Raven was going to need him to get out of this alive. “Naïve’s not the word I’d use.” She understood the appeal of space more than most. Or at least she used to. “Unfortunate maybe…definitely. But not naïve.” She said. Without the usual bite to her tone she sounded almost sincere. He was just a survivor, like them. Doing what he could to stay alive. “Space explorer though huh? I read about you guys in history books,” she teased, leaning back and taking another bite from the plate beside her. Her curiosity driving her words now. “I’m sure life back then was different.”
