Words could not begin to describe how much he hated this. His village was sick; men, women, children, none were immune to the sickness. And he wasn't a healer, he was a warrior. Nyko was out of the village, he was with Indra and the hunting party that had gone to retrieve more ingredients for his concoctions.
At the moment, when fevers spiked and more and more fell ill they turned to him and he was unable to aid them. So he had arranged a meeting with one of the other clans--Trishana--to ask for help, to ask for one of their healers to come with him to his village. Lincoln had chosen as open area, clear of trees and bushes and rocky outcrops.
There were little hiding spots here and he felt safe enough to stand in the open until the person he was meeting arrived. But Lincoln was not so trusting as his behavior might suggest. He was armed, of course, with spear and sword strapped at his hip.

Malia walked to the meeting place with a group of warriors. She had told them to stay out of sight and far behind. She didn't trust the person they would be meeting, and she was certain that he didn't trust her either. It wasn't like they knew each other.
A strange sickness was beginning to spread through her Clan. Her healers were working overtime to treat the never ending flow of patients. They didn't know what this sickness was, and by the sounds of it, nether did Trikru. It worried her that Trishana wasn't the only Clan touched by this illness. How long would it be until every Clan got sick?
Malia stayed alert for any signs of trouble as she walked across an open field to where Lincoln was waiting. Her warriors stayed behind, standing just behind the treeline. Unfortunately, the field was vast and open, with the forest only starting far away from where the meeting was to be held. If trouble was to arise, she could already be dead before her warriors would be able to reach her. This also meant that there wouldn't be any Trikru warriors close by, which was a good thing. So really, her only concern would be of Lincoln attacking her himself.
Malia approached Lincoln, and said a greeting. She didn't come unarmed, and neither did he. She kept a bit of a distance between them, but was close enough that discussion would be easy.
"What is it that I can help you with, Linkon kom Trikru?"

Lincoln watched the woman approach with a narrowed gaze, one that shifted to the treeline. He didn't see movement or the glisten of sunlight on metal but he knew her warriors were there--they would never had allowed her to walk into a meeting unprotected. He greeted her and offered an arm to shake, a peaceful exchange for the moment.
"Malia Kom Trishana, I required your assistance." The words were like ash in his mouth, leaving behind a bitter taste. Lincoln knew that his clan needed help, he was even willing to outsource for it, but Indra was likely to have him made an example of for going against her wishes.
Things were tense between all of the clans and asking for help was not approved off. "A sickness is spreading through both of our clans as we speak," it had become common knowledge that it was no longer just Trikru that was suffering and that others clans had encounter the same sickness.
It was worrying, so far none had discovered the cause nor the cure. They would need to work together to figure it out. "My healer is collecting more ingredients and will be away from some time. I have more sick arriving and an unable to help them. I need your help."

Lincoln was relieved when she agreed to help him but it didn't show on his face; he remain impassive. It was far too dangerous for the woman to know how much he needed her help, that she held the fate of his clan in her hands. He nodded slightly when she claimed to not be educated in healing.
He didn't believe her for an instant. Perhaps he was being presumptuous but Lincoln assumed she was a warriors of her clan, or at the very least someone trusted enough to come meet him.
And if that was the case she would have some knowledge on the matter. "No, I do not." He admitted, the lack of knowledge irritating him. Lincoln hated being in the dark but once again he did not allow this to show on his face.
"We found some medicine, a combination of herbs, that slow the spreading the disease but we've discovered nothing more." He sighed softly, moving a hand to rub the back of his neck. "What do you know of it?"

Well, he knew at least something. That would help. She did not know anything about the illness, other than that it was killing her people.
"I do not know more than you do. Everything we have tried as failed to do anything against the illness. We know nothing about it, not of its origins or how to stop it. If you could show my healer how to slow down the spreading of the disease, I would be grateful. Nothing we have tried has worked."
She did not bother to hide the fact that she knew nothing about the disease. It was frustrating, and even more so that Trikru knew more. It was beginning to prove that she was a terrible leader, and she hated that. She should have figured out at least something.

Lincoln couldn't contain the disappointment he felt when he heard her words. Malia knew nothing more than he did, and she would not be able to help his people. He sighed deeply, the tension not leaving his shoulders with the exhale, and nodded his head.
"I will help your healer." Things may had been difficult between their clans but he was not so cruel of a man to let innocent people suffer. "There is no point in wasting time. I can cone with you now." He said, motioning for her to begin leading the way.
Lincoln intended to go alone, was not worried about his safety in her company or that of her warriors. Killing or hurting him would not do them any good. Malia needed him alive to be able to help her people. And the Trikru warrior knew that helping them was her main concern.

Her eyes flicked up to his in surprise. She hadn't expected him to offer his direct assistance. "Thank you," she said, her gratefulness apparent in her voice. She was relieved that he would be helping, but frustrated that her people's lives solely depended on this Trikru warrior.
She nodded, turning and leading him into her territory. She knew her warriors would be silently following them as they walked, keeping close enough to know whether their leader was in danger or not, but far enough that Lincoln wouldn't know they were there. Unless, of course, he already assumed there were they. Malia wouldn't go anywhere without her guards hanging around.
She glanced behind her to make sure Lincoln was following, even though she could hear him. She was glad to have the excuse to hurry back to her Clan. She was worried about her people. "The sick are separated from the healthy," she told him. "They are gathered in one of the villages. I have warriors coming and bringing them food and supplies as well as healers who stay there. I am trying to contain the sickness as much as I can."
