They had at one point found the church. Like the entire area, there was next to no destruction from the deathwave. Many animals had instinctively fled here so once Clarke and her ward had found this place, it was only logical to set up their home there. They still had Beccas lab to go back and forth in and to get supplies of other sorts, but this place had become their home. So as soon as Clark had spotted that strange ship, she had rather quickly driven them to their sanctuary. They had to make sure they could protect it and get out of it. During the drive she hadn't spoken much.
And now as she made sure they would be safe in their sanctuary with a chance to flee, Clarke tried to settle again. This was the wrong ship. It was not her friends and it was concerning at best, horrifying more like it. What if they hand't survived after all? The night was falling once more, bathing the forest into darkness and from that emerging was a soft glow. The trees were once more bioluminiscent, especially around their church. She personally loved it at most times. Tonight it set off alarms and it was relieve as well.
"Madi, lets collect some of the flowers. We don't know who came down, so I think we should avoid a fire until we know who it is."

Madi felt a warm wave rush over here when the old brick building finally came into view. Nightmares still haunted her more nights than not, but she felt a lot safer with her new foster mother by her side. The girl had been like a wild animal when she‘d first come out of the bunker in which her family had died before her eyes. She was hardly even recognisable as a little girl, everything about her encrusted in weeks of filth.
Although she‘d been raised to be tough and self-sufficient as was her people‘s way, she was still a child and seeing her parents and brother waste away in front of her had shaken her psyche pretty badly. With her will to fight gone, she probably wouldn‘t have survived if Clarke hadn‘t found her. It took a long time to trust the fair haired stranger, but she didn‘t have anyone else left and so she came out of her shell eventually.
She‘d been very excited when they‘d spotted the huge ship in the sky having been told so many stories of Clarke‘s friends and she couldn‘t wait to meet them. Disappointment and fear gripped her when her foster mom revealed that this wasn‘t the spacecraft they‘d been waiting and hoping for.„What do we do if those people find our place?“ , Madi asked as she started to pick some flowers, worry edged into her young face.

Clarke knew there was only so much, that she could do with the flowers for illumination and a threat outside. She didn't know if they were a threat, but looking back on her experiences here, it didn't hurt to be careful. Especially not with the kid in her care now. She needed her to be a mother figure or big sister and she needed her to be careful and protect her, because she was still learning how to do it herself. She wanted her to be ready if she ever had to face her own culture again. Depending on how the six years had changed them. Well in Clarkes experience the grounders were rather resistant to change to begin with. Chances were Skaikru had adapted to them, not the other way around.
"We will cross that bridge when we get to that, Madi." She said. "They will probably be disoriented. They will most likely stick to the place they land, because they need to find out whats edible ad what not and where to find water. Then they will branch out slowly. Our place is rather well hidden. We can stay hidden for a while and if they find it, we have the rover. We can go back to Beccas lab and stay there for a while."
