Leo never planned on being a part of Mount Weather’s security detail. No, he had his own dreams he wanted to accomplish. Unfortunately for him, his father had been quick to enlist him in the cadet school. From there, the young brunet couldn’t do much besides going through with it. There was that and the simple fact his adventurous personality clashed badly with his father’s need for control and stability. Either way it was far too late to even consider backing out of the guard now. Besides, it wouldn’t hurt him to actually give this a shot for once. Who knows the experience could be a good one for him. It would give him a good chance to figure out how things worked here. Despite his entire life being spent in Mount Weather, he still needed to learn more about the place. This was his home. What better way to learn about than on the job? He was bound to explore more locations now that he gained a decent position in the guard.
Fixing the sleeves of his uniform, Leo had only given the reflection in the mirror one last glance before slipping out of his room. Whistling a small tune in midst of his walked, he couldn’t help but wondered what today would be like. It was his first official day on the job, after all. From what his superior told him, he was reporting directly to Lieutenant Emerson for the start of his on the job training. He had seen the older man around before, of course, but there was never much words exchanged between the two previously. Well, until today anyways. Despite the desire to make an attempt to settle into this new environment, Leo couldn't promise he would be the most pleasant person to work with. Yes, he was capable of following orders and using his mind to get to the bottom of things-- but his need for entertainment wasn't an easy thing to satisfy. Not when everything in Mount Weather had become relatively normal to say the least. Fortunately, this was a change of scenario for him.
Wordlessly, Leo had stepped inside the appointed room for the guards, his gaze flickering around the room briefly. It wasn’t until he spotted sandy brown haired lieutenant that the brunet had approached him. “I was informed I had to report to you for my responsibilities here.” Leo stated, the temptation to say more lingering on his lips. “Right, I’m Leon Cosmo, or Leo if we’re allowed to be casual. Anyways, it’s my first official day on the job.” He quickly piped up, lips pursued to a polite smile. Pleasantries needed to be exchanged. He wouldn't hear the end of it if he offended Lieutenant Emerson on the first day. Maybe.. he could still have his fun if he played his cards carefully. That would be a fun scenario to imagine. "So, do you have any tasks for me to take care of right now?" Leo questioned, deciding to tackle the job aspect of things first. He would have his fun sooner or later.

It was always encouraging to Emerson when young people decided to join the security detail. It was one of those lines of work where people needed to have a certain personality and motivation to really excel at it and when those people joined, it did nothing but make the guard stronger and make Mount Weather a safer place. That was why Emerson, being in the high position he was, still allowed himself to watch over and even mentor young cadets as they began their on-the-job training. He even found that he came to care for those young cadets and had watched a couple so far start climbing the ranks and doing a great job for their community. Because of this, he held high hopes for the cadet whom he would meet today.
Standing straight, Emerson waited for the boy to arrive, but his eyes were on the tablet in his hand. He read over any new announcements, looking for anything that might need his attention, as well as anything small he might be able to put Leon to do. He had also taken the time to read over Leon's file, learning as much as he could to prepare himself for how he could best help the cadet. When the corner of his vision caught sight of a new arrival in the room, Emerson immediately turned the screen off his tablet, placing it down on the desk behind him so he could give his full attention to Leon.
The boy spoke once he had walked over to Emerson and while respect might call for him to wait until he was spoken to, Emerson was willing to let that go. He started off well, anyway, respectful in his words, informing Emerson that he had been told to report to him. "That's correct," Emerson said. Then the boy continued to speak, introducing himself, adding a nickname which was unnecessary, and questioning whether there were any tasks for him to complete. Emerson did actually have something for them to do, planning on showing Leon the sort of day-to-day stuff he would do often. "Private Cosmo," Emerson said, his tone more formal than it had previously been, meaning to answer the boy's query on whether they could be "casual." "I'm Lieutenant Emerson. You can call me Sir."
Although Emerson already knew what they would do with their morning, having made sure he was free to work with Leon for then, he was half tempted to order him to make coffee. It would be interesting to watch his reaction and a good way to see how the boy reacted to orders that might not be what he wanted to do. Emerson was sure that Leon would be wanting to do something interesting, as most new recruits were once they began on-the-job training. Instead of asking him to make coffee, Emerson picked up his tablet again, bringing up the notification of the domestic disturbance. "I have a job here that we'll do together." A family worried about their neighbours, and a report that someone had to look into. Usually it was those lower-ranked members of the guard. CARL EMERSON ------------ These two will be fun XD |

The formal tone he heard from Lieutenant Emerson had been enough to convince Leon that any casual tone would be quick to be dismissed. What a shame that was going to be. After all, he was fond of having a little bit of fun on the job, though that would prove to be difficult if Emerson was so against the idea. Being a major pain in the ass wasn't on his agenda, especially on the first day, yet the temptation had already creeped into his head. Maybe not completely, but it was still possible to sneak some mischief without exposing himself into the dangers of scolding and heavy lectures. "Yes, Sir." Leon pipped up, his lips settling in a polite smile at the higher up.Despite the dedication he placed in the guard, Leon wasn't the most compliant being in the world. The correct term would be passive. He didn't want to deal with his father's ongoing complaints on why he didn't join the guard and make something of himself. This wasn't his life long goal that he wanted to accomplish. No, he wanted to save people alongside doctors. However, his mother's sickly nature kept him compliant with his father's wishes, which might have been obvious. No one spent that much time in the guard if they weren't remotely interested in it. "What's on the agenda for today?" Considering Leon was coming in blind to the guard, he did go around earlier to chat with a few of the newest privates. He learned there was a good chunk of them that did the grunt work for the others. Actually, that wasn't precise either. They mainly fetched coffee for any higher ups among other things. That didn't seem too interesting, but any complaints needed to be silenced now. He couldn't ruin his position all in one day, after all. He needed to keep his image up. Turning his attention over to Emerson, Leon could only offer a nod of his head as he silently listened to the older man's words. No coffee run apparently, which was nice, but it didn't explain what task they would be handling. "When do we start, Sir?" Leon questioned, shaking off the temptation to fall back in his casual ways. Formality needed to be maintained-- for now at least.Note: it'll be fun seeing how they deal with each othertagged: iah2

Emerson wasn't sure how he felt about the way that Leon said Sir, getting the sense that the kid was emphasising it too much, making it into a joke. But that wasn't something that Emerson was going to worry about, sure that this kid would make a lot more mistakes and do a lot worse things before the day was out. His introduction with a nickname had already given Emerson the impression that Leon wasn't going to take his job as seriously as he should have been. Being a part of the guard wasn't something to be taken lightly, it was one of the most important and most difficult jobs in Mount Weather and Emerson would be sure that Leon knew that sooner rather than later. Along with the fact that things likely wouldn't be as interesting as he might have hoped they'd be.
With Leon's mutliple questions on what they would be doing for the day, he at least showed and interest in the job. "A domestic disturbance," Emerson said, his tone as ordered as it always was. "A report from a neighbour that we are going to look into." Trusting that the kid could do as much as hold a tablet and read, he handed it to him, giving him a chance to read the details that were on it. It gave them a residence number, information on the people that lived there and the report that the neighbour had given. It was a typical case. Report of shouting being heard, banging that could have been things being knocked over. Mount Weather tended to be a close community and so it wasn't uncommon for neighbours to report if they thought someone might be in danger.
Once Leon had been given enough time to read the report, Emerson held his hand out to take back the tablet. It would need to be taken with them but Emerson felt a lot better holding it himself, sense he hadn't been given the best first impression from Leon. "Think you can handle this?" Emerson asked, being as unformal as he would ever be on the job with a cadet or a private. "We'll go to the residence, question the two residents separetely and then what we do next depends on what we hear and what we see." Emerson was sure that Leon would have some idea what to do, but he would take the lead today, allowing Leon to only participate when Emerson thought it was right for him to do.
