Whether Atom attempted it or not, the fact Bellamy had seen him kiss Octavia led to his current situation. Being tied to a tree in the middle of the woods wasn't the greatest experience in the world, after all. He needed to earn back Bellamy's respect now that he tarnished a majority of it. Incidentally, that meant he had to avoid Octavia before things gradually took a turn for the worst. Turning his body slightly, the brunet peered over at his companion, Rylee. Despite the fragile air to her, he was well aware that she was a force to be reckoned with out here in the woods. Nonetheless, you couldn't be too careful with the Grounders lurking in these parts. This territory was still unknown to them, unfortunately. Not to mention, the terrain wasn't something they were used to.
There was still a great deal of light peeking through the trees, casting a brief shadow over them. It was still early in the day. They still had plenty of time to find something to eat for their group, whether it was boar or some other animal. "Are you doing alright back there?" Atom questioned, his gaze lingering on Rylee for a moment as he stopped mid-walk. Considering how early they left, they did a great deal of walking just to get here. Boar were a bit difficult to catch, ironically. Either way, an attempt had to be made to catch them. Everyone was itching for a fulfilling meal lately."It shouldn't be any further than this." Atom explained, hearing the sound of rustling leaves in the distance. The corners of his lips twitched upwards in a brief smile. His attention quickly flickered over to the noisy group of boars just to the right of them. If they played their cards just right, they might be able to take both boar with them in the next few minutes. The only question was how they were planning to catch them up. Being equipped with a knife didn't leave much to the imagination, beyond getting up close and personal. "Stay close." He muttered softly, beckoning Rylee to follow after him with his eyes. With his knife in hand, Atom was cautious on each step, being mindful not to draw the attention of the two boar on them. If they could catch just one, everyone would manage to get a piece at the very least. With that thought in mind, Atom took to the left side with the intention of jumping the boar when he was close enough.

We are the RECKLESS, We are the wild YOUTH |
Rylee sighed as she trekked through the woods, a few steps behind her counterpart for the journey, Atom. He was a close friend of Bellamy’s but seemed to be on the outs as of late. She wasn’t sure what had happened other than the fact that he had done something to greatly upset Bell…and it involved Octavia. Rylee wasn’t stupid…she could put two and two together. She grabbed her hair in her hands and quickly threw the whispy curls into a messy bun before catching up to Atom. She smiled at his words. “I’m fine…you don’t have to worry about me.” She let out a gentle laugh.
Her laughter stopped and her ears perked at the sound of rustling close by. She froze, only her eyes moving as searched for the source of the sound. Both she and Atom found them at the same time, their eyes both on the animals not far from them. Rylee kicked her knife out of her boot and gripped her hand tightly around the blade.
As Atom whispered to her, she looked up at him and nodded. She thought it was sweet how he thought she needed “protecting” but she wouldn’t fight him on it. For his sake and for her “girliness”, she would “stay close” to him and let him lead the way.
Rylee, gripping her knife, followed after Atom, her steps quiet and careful to avoid the noisy leaves or sticks. She wasn’t watching ahead of her for a moment and before she knew it, she had walked right into Atom. She gasped softly and pressed her hands against his back gently, staying quiet, her eyes still on the animals. They were oblivious to the two young adults watching them…and that was perfect.

With his punishment in mind, Atom was more than a bit hesitant to even consider the thought of explaining why he wasn't accompanying Bellamy in their group elsewhere. Besides, it wasn't something that needed to be explained to anyone else back at camp, anyways. The topic was a personal one, after all, especially with the people involved. The Blakes were no one to mess with. Something anyone could inform you of in their camp. With his gaze lingering on Rylee, he caught himself admiring her smile for a moment. It was with the sound of her gentle laugh that he was pulled back into reality. "Really? I'll keep that in mind." Atom mused, a faint trace of playfulness in his voice. His lips were pursued in a brief smile at the thought. With the rustling nearby, there was hardly anytime for them to do anything else at the given moment. Atom could only focus on the sight before them. The knife in his pocket was pulled out and residing in his hand as he focused on the animals. How should they go about this? Maybe it would be better to just go along with their instincts and work from there. Who knows, they might get lucky. At that thought, he whispered for her to stay close, despite hearing tidbits of information on Rylee's abilities. Nonetheless, that wasn't a topic that needed to be questioned right now.His whisper had been the last exchanged between them before he had stepped forward, mindful of where he stepped. The last thing they needed was the animals being alerted of their presence. Catching them off guard was their best bet right now. Atom's knife was carefully held as he took several cautious steps forward only to stop abruptly. He was tempted to speak up-- to figure out what happened. However, he kept quiet instead only turning his head slightly to peer over at Rylee curiously, an eyebrow raising slightly. The small, gentle pressure of a hand against his back had already told him everything he needed to know. With his free hand extend behind him slightly, he offered her some help before making his next move.
It wasn't until they drew closer to the animals that Atom beckoning for Rylee to approach the second boar. The two boar were more than a bit busy scourging about in search of food, giving them the perfect window to attack. There was only a brief moment where he turned to Rylee, silently mouthing the words 'let's do it'. It was better to do it now before their window was shut permanently. Without any further adieu, Atom sprang forward as the knife sunk in to the animal.

We are the RECKLESS, We are the wild YOUTH |
Rylee laughed again very softly at his words and how playful his voice was. Despite the fact that they were on a mission, it was nice to know they could still be playful and a bit carefree. That was one of the most difficult things about being on the ground. She wanted to have fun and forget that they were sent here to die. But everyone was focused on other things. She wanted to watch the stars, play in the rain, do things they could never do on the Ark. But everyone was scared.
She watched Atom methodically fiddle with his knife and had a feeling he too was confident in his skills. Feeling his hand on hers when she had bumped into him, his eyes connected with hers and she smirked softly. She accepted his help before continuing on behind him.
They were suddenly close enough to attack and adrenaline ran through Rylee’s blood. She was eying the second boar, biting her bottom lip as she thought of a way to bring down the giant animal. Well, giant compared to her. She saw Atom give the go ahead and sighed softly. “Well now or never.” She whispered to herself.
Rylee, careful of her steps still as to not alert the animal before she could make her move, made her way to only steps from the boar. Rylee stood behind the boar and quickly attempted to stab the boar, not sure if anywhere she hit was going to affect the animal. Her knife pierced the animal, spurting blood onto her hands. The animal wasn't even close to dead, but it was certainly slowed in its' movements. "I have never exactly killed an animal before...." She said looking over at him laughing gently. "Might need your help actually killing him the rest of the way..." She kept her eyes on the animal.
This was an adventure....and she was excited for it.

“ YOU'RE GONNA CARRY THAT WEIGHT. Considering the two were off on brief hunting trip, Atom didn’t see any reason to be serious throughout all of it. A hunting trip, even a brief one, didn’t need to be a non talkative. Besides, he was hardly the type to remain quiet during moments such as these. He preferred talking as much as the next person. Perhaps that's the reason why he found himself smiling lightly when he heard the soft laugh from Rylee. It was good to let loose a little, especially with the new environment they were in.
Atom had been mindful of holding her hand lightly as they approached the boars. While his gaze may have flickered back to the animals, he didn't the smirk on the brunette's lips. It was hard to miss, after all. A sight he only offered a brief chuckle to, before he concentrated on the boars once again.
The hand that once held Rylee's was slowly let go the moment they were drawer closer to the boars, enough so to see them up close. It was only when he had given her the signal that he moved forward, using that brief moment to take a few quiet steps forward. With that brief moment of quietness, Atom had been quick to rush forward and stab the animal.
What should have been a relatively easy kill had taken a bit of time as his knife pierced the struggling animal's body. It wasn't a kill that he wanted to make but it was a necessary one if everyone wanted to be feed for tonight. One less meal to worry about if they brought these two in. Atom forced the blade down more, ignoring the blood spurting out of the animal. It could be washed for later, no need to be bothered by it now. The boar's struggles continued before slowly beginning to diminish until a faint twitch. Atom had crouched down briefly to pull the blade out of the animal when he heard Rylee's voice nearby, soon hearing her gentle laugh. "You'll get the hang of it sooner or later. I'm still learning myself." Atom admitted, not bothering to hide it. He only started hunting a few days ago.
With the way the animal was twitching, it didn't seem like it would last long struggling, but there was no guarantee of that. He witnessed a few animals still surviving after being stabbed. "Alright, you just--" He paused, his gaze flickering over to Rylee curiously. "Do you want me to tell you or show you?" He questioned, raising an eyebrow slightly. Showing her would be more helpful, especially if she had plans on joining the next hunt.

Rylee smiled at his words. She was glad she wasn’t the only inexperienced hunter out today. Her eyes darted to his animal. It was still twitching but definitely wasn’t going to be going anywhere anytime soon. Her boar on the other hand? He was suffering. He waddled around like a lost puppy and was in pain. Rylee just wanted his suffering to end. She wasn’t sure she would be able to do that.
Kids on the Ark got sent to the Sky Box for devious deeds. Murder, stealing, drugs, abuse. Rylee? She flirted with the wrong person and was in the wrong place at the wrong time. She did nothing wrong except try to get herself out of a bad situation using her assets. Killing an animal wasn’t something she was exactly gifted at. Nor something she liked to think about. An animal in pain was a sad thing to witness.
At his voice, Rylee brought her eyes back to his. She felt his eyes on her and she was suddenly biting her bottom lip as her nerves bundled up. She took a step back from the boar and looked over at him. “Show me…” She said softly. “Please…” She added on with a small smirk playing on her lips.
Something about the idea of Atom showing her how to kill a live animal, it was sending adrenaline through her veins. Pulling a piece of cloth from her pack, she wiped the blood off her knife and started to take off what she could from her hands. Turning her gaze back to Atom, she tilted her head watching to see what his next step would be.

“ YOU'RE GONNA CARRY THAT WEIGHT.
Atom figured it was wise to ask Rylee for her input first, especially when he wasn't certain if she was a more hands-on learner. However, their priority here was the boar that was still swaying about as it walked. It was clear that the boar was suffering and the only option for them now was to take it out of it's misery. The only question was deciding who would be the one to make that decision. Despite hunting down the boar for their next meal, there was a twinge of regret lurking inside of him whenever his gaze lingered on the swaying animal.
As the question left his lips, Atom turned his gaze over to Rylee as he waited to hear her answer. He didn't want to move forward and kill the animal off if she wanted to give it a try. Fortunately, he was provided with an answer only moments later. At the glance she gave him, the brunet could only offer a brief nod in response. It would be relatively simple to end the creature's life in numerous ways, but there was no need to torture the poor thing either. What was the easiest method to relieving his pain the quickest way?
"It's easier to do it like this- for the creature and yourself." Atom spoke lightly, not fond of dragging out the process longer than necessary. With that thought in mind, he took a few steps forward- towards the creature. Despite the sways in its' movements, it was strange how lost it appeared. Drawing a single breath, he bent down slightly aiming his knife at the creature's neck. It would be a painless process for the both of them. All he heard was the creature's squeals before the knife had been pushed into the skin on his neck, quickly killing the small creature.
For a moment, the man hardly spoke as his gaze lingered on the dying animal before he removed the knife. "I'll show you more next time." Atom's gaze flickered over to Rylee momentarily as he tried to consider their next course of action. There were two boars that they had to carry. "We should carry them back- do you want me to carry them?" He questioned, raising a single brow. He didn't mind the extra weight.

Rylee kept her eyes on Atom watching as he kept his gaze on the slowly suffering animal. She didn’t want the animal to suffer anymore. She just wished he would kill it already. She did like anyone to suffer. People and animals didn’t deserve to wait out their deaths in pain. That wasn’t fair to anyone. Rylee jumped a little hearing Atom’s knife connect with the animal’s flesh. She let out a breath she hadn’t realized she was holding, once the animal was dead.
She felt his eyes on her and she let her own meet his. A small smile finding her lips at his words. Next time? She was glad there was going to be a next time. At the mention of carrying the animals back to camp, she laughed softly. “Well…I can certainly try…but you are definitely stronger than I am..” She felt a blush rise to her cheeks. She was quick and intuitive with her skills, but she was tiny. Rylee did not have as much muscle as some of the girls that came down with the 100. Some of them were scary….but not Rylee. She was dangerous, but not because of her muscle.
A wind suddenly blew through the trees and Rylee looked up, smiling as the leaves fell down around them. They didn’t have anything remotely close to nature up on the Ark. It was moments like this that she craved. It was moments like this that made her want to leave the gated camp that the 100 were forced to live in. She wanted to close her eyes and twirl in the wind, dance in the rain, and run through the woods. But she knew how unsafe it could be out here. Despite the secret beauty it all held, there were dangers too…dangers even she couldn’t fathom.
And that scared her more than anything…
