Raven couldn’t help the arrogant grin plastered on her face. Each step she took had purpose as she walked…okay fine…strutted through the corridors of the ark. Because guess who just aced their Zero G mechanic exam. That’s right…this girl right here. She was so close to achieving her dream. She’d wanted this for so long, as long as she could remember and now that it was actually happening, Raven could hardly contain her joy. All she had left now was to get her psych eval done and she’d be one step closer to being the youngest Zero G mechanic in almost 52 years. Who else could say that?
All this medical evaluation crap was just that, complete crap. She knew she was mentally sound and Raven had no doubt that this Dr. Killian Crane, would definitely agree. She was going to be out of this prison and floating in space in no time. Just the thought of that weightlessness and freedom she’d dreamt of her whole life, had her walking just a little faster.
Without knocking, Raven entered the room that she assumed belonged to the guy who stood between her and her dream. “Hey doc.” Walking over to the desk without really looking up, she placed the form in her hand on top of whatever he was working on. It wasn’t important right now. “Sign here and I’ll be outta your hair,” she finally said, pointing at a dotted line at the bottom of the page that would ultimately mean she could get on with her life and leave the doctor alone to get on with his. “Thanks in advance,” she added, with a slight tone of impatience as she waited for him to sign his name….wasn’t exactly a difficult task.

Raven Reyes Female Age: 18 Marital Status: Single Children: None Mechanic
Killian looked up at his latest client. Raven Reyes. Immediately, he could see her. Start to understand her. His analysis of her commenced the moment she walked through that door. Confident gait. Strong smile. And . . . expectancy. As she extended the form for him to sign. He looked at her, not moving. Quickly assessing her before a small smile started to form on his lips. His work now covered by a form that she put there. But he made no move to sign it. "Do you believe you are a burden to me?" He questioned her, as she spoke of being out of his hair once he signed the form. "Because, I am inclined to disagree." Did she feel she was a burden to anyone? Was the smile just on the surface? Confidence to compensate for something else?
"Please, Ms. Reyes, have a seat," he told her, extending his hand to the chair that was across from him. "I will certainly sign this form after we've had a little chat." He didn't know if she would sit or not. She seemed . . . impatient. She had put the form directly in front of him, dismissing any other work he may have had to do, as well as telling him to sign it, apart from asking. This, was clearly outside her comfort zone. But Killian had a job to do, and in order for her to enter her field under the title she desired . . . he needed to carry out his own responsibilities. So he waited, his eyes still on her, the small smile still on his lips. She may be defiant, and Killian was almost already braced for that.

She watched him just sit there, a smile on his face and his hand unmoving. As in…he wasn’t signing the damn form. Great. His penetrating gaze made her uncomfortable, like he could see straight through her down to her very core. As he spoke, Raven’s expression changed almost immediately. Who did this guy think he was? She’d practically sailed through her physical, passed her exam with flying colours. This was supposed to be the easy part. She had plans to visit Finn after this though it was beginning to look like she might have to postpone that. Pfft…not likely. “I see what you’re doing there doc,” she began, with a sly smile of her own. “Twisting my words, analysing everything I say and do.” It wasn’t going to work. She didn’t need therapy. She needed him to sign the goddamn form.
As soon as he asked her to sit down, Raven folded her arms over her chest in blatant defiance. She wasn’t sure why exactly she was being difficult. She needed him. The ark wasn’t exactly crawling with psychiatrists and she didn’t want any hiccups on her way to becoming a Zero G mechanic. Perhaps it was something to do with his calm demeanour and that expression on his face like he knew her better than she did. It infuriated her. “Ooor we could skip the niceties and I can be on my way…if you just y’know sign the form.” The smile on her face now was far from genuine as she pointed at the line again. “Just there…in case you forgot.” The good doctor probably had some actual patients to take care of, so really Raven was just doing him a favour. It was a win win, she didn’t understand why he couldn’t grasp that.

Raven Reyes Female Age: 18 Marital Status: Single Children: None Mechanic
Killian continued to watch her. She folded her arms across her chest. Defiance. But also, a stance of . . . protectiveness. As if to shield herself. Did she not wish to do this, out of fear of being read? Of being learned by another? Of being seen? Not in a way that highlighted her skill, but a more personal way. Interesting. Killian was not about to change his stance on the matter though. Signing on this form without the proper evaluation would be reckless. Corrupt even. And if something happened to her in the field, the responsibility would be on him. He, would be accountable. "Oh, I think you skipped over the niceties the moment you walked through those doors." With her demeanour, words and actions. His statement would have been teasing . . . if he felt there wasn't truth to them. And still, it was said with that unwavering smile. Still calm. Still composed.
"Do you have somewhere else to be, Ms. Reyes?"Killian asked, his hands relaxing over his file that she had conveniently placed the form on. "Because from my understanding, your job is incredibly important to you. And right now, the completion of this session is the only thing standing in your way of you being deemed fit to enter the field." A reminder not of the power he held, but of the relevance of this session. "So we can continue to stand here while you hold the hope that I will sign off on this form. An unlikely scenario might I add. Or, we can put that time to better use, by getting started. The sooner we do, the sooner you can leave and carry on with the rest of your day." He leaned back in his chair comfortable, his posture still impeccably straight. "The choice is yours." The decision her own. He would not rob of her of. But merely, remind her of her options while reinforcing the fact that he would not sign the forms like this.

Oh he was good…she’d give him that. Every word he said, calm and collected despite the harshness behind some of them. Must be a hell of a psychiatrist. Either that or the doctor was a complete sociopath…The latter outcome wouldn’t surprise her too much, she thought wryly. Raven visibly paused for a few moments after he finished speaking, really weighing the options he was giving her. Now she could be stubborn as hell, but she wasn’t stupid. Everything he said was true, she did need him to do this so she could leave…he just didn’t have to look so damn happy about it. “Fine…” she finally relented, doing this his way before sitting down in the seat opposite him. She fidgeted slightly, uncomfortable under his piercing gaze.
Raven hoped the “session” would be as short as possible. That he’d just ask the obligatory questions, and she’d answer them impeccably as he checked them off a list. Before leaving and forgetting this unnecessary part of her medical evaluation. A psych eval…really? Anyone could tell you Raven was mentally sound. “I’m an open book,” she said sarcastically with a small forced smile. Inviting him to do his worst. She wasn’t sure exactly to expect though, which unnerved her slightly. The doctor had already surprised her by convincing her to even sit down, something she’d specifically intended not to do. Because this feeling she got, sitting across from him on the other side of his desk that had her on the defensive, was exactly what she’d wanted to avoid. He was proving himself to be a force to be reckoned with. But then…he’d never met Raven Reyes.
