whatever THE HELL WE WANT Things were finally starting to settle in what was now named Arkadia. Bellamy had known that the psychological and emotional wounds inflicted on the others, would take a lot longer to heal than the physical ones. Bellamy was no exception to this. Clarke's departure had left him . . . lost. Having relied on her, believing that they would get through this together, only to have this single moment of needing her, met with rejection. Bellamy knew that nothing could ease the pain of what he had done.
Committing genocide. Murdering innocent men, women . . . children. People who had helped them. Images that he saw every time he closed his eyes. A body count of nearly a thousand lives, as he drowned in their blood that burdened his conscience. All he could do, was move forward. Put his feelings aside for the betterment of the camp. For the others. He lived for them and that hadn't changed. It never would.
Kane had given him an official position in the guard and with that, came the responsibilities of training, patrols, mapping the area, and of course the general assurance of safety within Arkadia and the land directly surrounding it. Despite the ceasefire, tensions with the Grounders were still strong. He didn't believe that this would be an ever lasting peace. But this time it had granted them, allowed everyone to catch their breath . . . to start building a sustainable lifestyle.
It was time that they needed, and the longest time they had where they weren't in constant battle with the Grounders. Right now, Bellamy was planning a patrol on the surrounding borders of Arkadia. He paired himself with one of the younger members of the guard, Katarina Roux. It would be a good opportunity to extend any training that he was giving the younger recruits, and patrolling was of course part of the job description.
She was one of the original 100 down, and therefore, one of the people that Bellamy felt particularly protective towards. She showed great promise in what he saw of her and was looking forward to seeing more of her capabilities. He was equipped with a large rifle, a blade, and clad in his uniform and holding a pack filled with an emergency medical kit, and a couple packs of water, as he waited by the gates for her to join him. Seeing her approach, he put the strap of his weapon around his shoulder, close enough to him so that he could easily access it if necessary. "All set to go?" He questioned, wanting to make sure she had everything she needed.

Everything that occurred in the last few days had left Kat feeling rather weary and beaten down to say the least. Despite winning the war against the Grounders, for now at least, there wasn't a shred of good news to greet them. With the arrival of the Arkers in Arkadia, the auburn haired girl couldn't help but feel uneasy here. Between the unknown location of her parents and the recent toll from their latest battle, she was constantly on the brink of worry. Down here.. it seemed like there was something constantly going on-- a big evil that they needed to take care. Getting an opportunity to be a part of the guardsman had been more than a bit relieving for the stressed female. The constant worry of her parents safety, and her own actions, had left her feeling terrible. Things were never meant to go this far, and yet they had. Everyone had gotten blood on their hands one way or another. A nagging sense of worry kept stirring inside of her, almost making her wonder when the next attack would come. Any peacefulness they had now wouldn't last. Not with so many things still being undiscovered by the people in their camp. Despite the rush she was in, Kat had managed to dress in her uniform beforehand, saving her the extra time of actually being late.Releasing a breath, the auburn haired girl hurried and packed the last remains of her pack before slinging the strap over her shoulder. She peered at the contents on her makeshift bed for a moment, reaching a hand out to tuck away her small blade in her pocket and grabbing her rifle. The latter of her items being something she struggled to get. There had been some arguments, but the rifle had been given to her in the end. At least some of her worries, along with everyone else's, were temporarily diminished. There was a moment of peace between their camp and the Grounders for once-- but who knew how long this would last. Before her thoughts could delay her, Kat had been quick to tuck the strap of the rifle around her shoulder before rushing out of her room. Today would prove to be an interesting day to say the least. From what another guard had told her, she was on patrol duty with Bellamy Blake today. It would be a rare opportunity to prove what she could do, after all. With nothing else to keep her, she wasted little time in hurrying over to the gates where Bellamy was waiting.
"All set." Kat answered, already going through a mental checklist. There wasn't anything missing. Her weapons were on her persona along with her supplies. Everything was in order. "We're all set to go, right?" She questioned, glancing back at the other guards training nearby. It wasn't until the auburn haired girl heard Bellamy's reply that she followed him as they ventured past the gates to start the patrol.

whatever THE HELL WE WANT Bellamy gave a nod when she confirmed that she was all set, and giving additional confirmation when she made sure they were ready. With that, they were off, making their way through the gates that were opened for them, and closed behind them. "Let's get this over with," Bellamy stated. While he could appreciate being out of Arkadia at times, he was constantly fearful of when the Grounders would attack. Not if, but when. Because it was only a matter of time. And it set him on edge, knowing that there were others, his own people who were also endangered by stepping outside the safety of the gates.
In this case, Kat. While he knew full well that she could handle herself, he couldn't help the fear. The constant fear . . . of losing someone else. After they had lost so many of their people. People he had sworn to protect. But such fears were to remain in his mind. For vocalizing them wouldn't do anything but insight worry and he didn't want to do that.
"How are things going with you??" Bellamy asked. He wanted to also take this opportunity to see how she was doing, as they hadn't had much time for a conversation before. With everything happening, everyone trying to get settled, and everyone recovering . . . there was a great deal going on. With his question, he turned his head to look at her, curious to an answer and while he didn't expect anyone to be healed from everything . . . he hoped that things were stabilizing.

While Kat did enjoy being in Arkadia, the auburn haired girl wanted to keep her schedule heavily occupied. The thought of sitting around and doing nothing didn't sit right with her, especially when it gave her free time. Time to wander where her parents where and if they were safe out here in the ground. The thought was a constant one in her mind, something she couldn't deal with at the moment. When given the chance to be a part of the guard.. Kat didn't think twice about accepting the role. The position was one she had been interested in the Ark before she had been arrested for her crime. Maybe this was her luck being to change for the better, at least she hoped so. With a quick nod of her head, she fell into agreement with Bellamy. There was no reason to waste any more time in Arkadia, not when there were so many things to lure her attention elsewhere.
Getting the opportunity to patrol the surrounding border or Arkadia would be a good change of pace for Kat. Ever since the battle with the Grounders, it felt as if she was stuck in the same place-- never being granted the chance to move forward. Things needed to change now that she was Arkadia.. whether or not her parents were still alive out there somewhere. Patrolling was her best bet to getting the change she wanted.
Surprise was the first emotion that revealed itself on Kat's facial features before giving way to reluctance. How were things going with her..? It was a loaded question if every past event since their arrival was taken into consideration. Swallowing dryly, the auburn haired girl's gaze flickered elsewhere, faking interest in their surroundings for a moment. How was she handling things? "I.. could be better... We all could." Kat answered weakly, uncertain of how to answer Bellamy's question. Considering her answer, it would only stir up more questions in the long run. It seemed like a good idea to just fess up and be finished of this dilemma. "Honestly, I'm just trying to adjust with the other.. " She paused, mulling over her words. There was no need to bring up her parents in this discussion. "people from the Ark, but I'm fine really." She quickly finished, turning her gaze over to Bellamy briefly. "Are you doing alright? It's a.. change being here, after all." Kat questioned, hoping to shift the attention elsewhere.

whatever THE HELL WE WANT Bellamy's gaze was forward, but he took in her words, listening attentively as she told him that she could be better, just like they all could. That was quite true. They could definitely be better, and Bellamy hoped that with time, they could all truly heal. For however long this ceasefire would last. The war was not over, but he wasn't about to spout this out. The people needed time to believe in peace; to believe that they could actually live, rather than just survive. Belalmy wouldn't convince them of anything else until it became absolutely imperative. And impossible to ignore.
He turned his head to glance at Kat as she spoke of trying to adjust with the other Arkers. "Someone giving you a hard time?" He asked, almost as a tease, but there was genuine curiosity in his words. "It's defintely a change," he agreed, turning his head back forward, once again agreeing with her words. "Going from the dropship, to this." Bellamy had feared the Ark coming down for so long, but he had been pardoned for his crime . . . despite ironically being arrested shortly after by Kane for attacking Murphy.
"Guess it's a good thing as well," he added on, trying to be hopeful. "And hopefully, it'll be more so when we find the others." Bellamy was determined to find Farm station. It was one of the larger stations on the Ark, and had so many people on it. He couldn't believe that it had wound up like Factory . . . with only one survivor. "I'm doing alright," he answered her, giving a slight smile as he looked at her again. "But, guess none of us are really fine or alright." Just as she had said, they could all be better. And just as he knew, none of them were fine. They just . . . had to be.

At the teasing question, Kat's gaze flickered over to Bellamy momentarily as she debated her words. "Ah, I wouldn't call it that." She replied, "More like minor adjusting in my part.". With the way things were going, it was either adjust or be left behind essentially. After all, everything was constantly changing in the ground. "It is, but I'm not complaining about the rooms." She mused with a smile. Considering they were sleeping on makeshift beds when they first landed here, having a comfortable mattress to sleep on was great.
With Bellamy mentioning everyone else, Kat found herself pausing for a moment at the thought. Finding all of their people was the goal here. Unfortunately, there was no telling how many Arkers were still out there searching for each other. Her parents included. "I hope so too." She agreed, releasing a harsh breath at the thought. "It's going to take some getting used to." The leadership issue might be one thing that was troubling, considering they were so used to Bellamy and Clarke leading them that having another leader was.. strange to adjust to again.
Fortunately, the topic had been switched back to Bellamy and his well being. "That's good to hear." Kat spoke, offering a smile back. Considering he was the main one involved in little bit of everything in Arkadia, it only made sense to see how he was dealing with all of this. The change hadn't been the easiest one, after all. "Maybe, but we'll find a way to deal with all of this one way or another." At the thought, Kat's gaze flickered around her surroundings briefly. Nothing but trees and the gates of Arkadia behind them. "We still have each other at least." The delinquents had been through a lot together, Bellamy included.
