Ontari felt tired. Which wasn't odd, knowing she had just woken up. It was often times that she felt this way after sleeping. The thing was, as she opened her eyes and tried to work out where she was, she realised she had no idea. The floor underneath her was both cold an hard, not like the soft grass she remembered waking up on the past few mornings or rough like the caves Ontari had gotten used to sleeping in. It was smooth and sort of bumpy but in a way that was even. What was even weirder was the sounds that Ontari could hear, a swooshing sound like waves of the ocean hitting against rocks on the shore. It made no sense to Ontari, not in the state she was in, not with the bright light that surrounded her. It was blinding and her eyes needed time to adjust. As her tiredness slowly faded from her mind, clarity came with one important thought: Lexa.
Quickly, in a panic, Ontari called out. "Lexa!" she said, her voice echoing like she was in a closed in space. It seemed to echo multiple times, like it were bouncing off walls on either side of her. She was starting to get the impression that she was trapped somewhere and everything about how she felt backed that up. "Star, are you here?" There was an obvious tone of panic to Ontari's voice, worry that the one she loved wasn't there. Ever since they had ran from the conclave, the two hadn't been separated and Ontari feared the worst in that moment. But as her eyes adjusted to the light surrounding her, beginning to see the place she was in and the holes in the walls around her, a figure came into view on the ground near her. Relief flooding through her body, Ontari crawled over to Lexa, cradling her in her arms once she realised Lexa had yet to wake up.
Other things had come back into her mind now. The memories she needed to begin to make sense of where she was. They had found the peaceful clan. They thought they had. At least, they had found someone who said they knew of it, who had told them how to get to it and they had lit the green fire and seen the boats come. It was more difficult for Ontari to remember what had happened after that but there was a rage beginning to build in her. At the fact that she was trapped. That Lexa had yet to wake. That they thought they had finally found the peaceful clan that Ontari had had rumors of. Those rumors were what fueled her in leaving Polis with Lexa. Now it looked like they had found nothing peaceful. Being trapped didn't feel peaceful in any way. And Ontari couldn't even feel a sword on her back to fight when the time came. Luna iahLexa wasn't too keen on drinking suspicious liquids though they were unable to get off the little island without it. They'd reached the peak, set off the signal with green flames and soon they had been greeted by stern looking warriors. They had to look strong, stern and intimidating - less likely for others to try and cajole them into a fight and if this really was the way to the peaceful clan, Lexa understood completely. Words and looks mattered when it came to potential fights. Sometimes a word could diffuse what would be a sword fight or a look to quell the fist fight. Brought up to be a warrior, to kill, to lead, Lexa's body had tensed in anticipation of battle. It was habit, it was instinct and she stayed her hand and her blade because she didn't want to spill blood.
She'd taken the liquid with Ontari, if this would kill them then she didn't want to see her die. All it did was make her sleepy, and she couldn't even feel the sand hit her when she collapsed unconscious. Nothing mattered in her mind. They were taken to the rig, placed rather gently into the container before they would go tell Luna of their presence. Lexa could have stayed asleep. They'd been on the run and hiding for so long with Lexa being unable to sleep well because of all the dangers. But the moment Ontari spoke, the tremble in her voice, pulled Lexa from the murky depths to open up her eyes, the groggy feeling persisted. Unlike the rest of the times she woke up, going from sleep mode to alert in the blink of literally an eye. This was horrible.
Her lower half was on the cold hard ground, her upper half cradled by her Sun and she looked up with that self same groggy expression. "I'm here, I'm okay. Are you?" Lexa asked, trying to think through the fog in her brain. Last thing she remembered was taking the liquid and then waking up. Before that was the anxious wait for the grounders to arrive to shore. Her memory intact, nothing seemed missing or out of place. Just something to knock out guests so they didn't see the way to where they were now. That was how they stayed secret and protected, but where were they? Lexa looked around, the metal rusted in some places, clean in the others. Holes littered the sides and even above, the sunlight peeking through.
"Sun, did we make it?" Her voice low, in wonder. Constantly thinking, her mind never stopping, she saw what Ontari may not have. And that was okay, they balanced out each other. Lexa would not have gotten this far, or survived this long, without her. Giving Ontari a half armed squeeze hug(hugging in her position was rather difficult), Lexa pulled herself to her feet to look around. She noticed her swords were not on her back, their constant weight now absent. The knives on her person were also removed. Any weapons were taken, leaving them with the clothes on their back and their lives intact. Lexa supposed she should thank them for that much. "Is anyone out there? We're awake." Lexa called. And full of questions.
