Atom had wrapped his arm around her when she pressed against him and hurried with her back to her quarters. He smiled at the fact that he was getting so attached to her in such a short time. But then she started removing clothes and putting fresh ones one. He swallowed hard as he got a good look at her shapely hips and her soft back. The close quarters suddenly made him feel really hot. What was he thinking? He wanted to take advantage of the situation, but she was still under his care. When she offered to have him join her under the blanket, he hesitated, only because he was afraid of what he might do. But he nodded and crawled onto the bed beside her and under the blanket to keep her warm. 

He wrapped his arm around her and held her close. He could feel her still shivering slightly from the storm and he knew that he would not be able to leave her alone. As he snuggled with her he thought about the events of the day. The reaper and it hurting her and it made him sick. If he had been smart he would have taken her hand and run like the wind. But instead, he had to try and play hero and show off. The backfire was a lesson he would never forget. 

"I am so glad you are going to be alright. I don't know what I would have done if I lost you."

He leaned over and kissed her cheek. The only gesture that he trusted himself to do. Anymore and he wouldn't be sure he could control himself. He was a young man with raging hormones. Something that he could not help. But he would try and be as much of a gentleman as he could. To think of anything else was ludicrous in his book. Though his thoughts were far from gentlemanly he tried to keep them just thoughts. He listened as the sound of the thunder still seemed to rack the camp and he hoped that there would be no fires or loss of food stores that would not be a good thing. Though he wouldn't mind another chance to get Rylee alone again. Not like they weren't alone now.

When Atom got under the blanket with her and wrapped an arm around her, she smiled and leaned against him gently. She was freezing, but his body heat and the blanket would be more than enough. Though she was sure he himself could have kept her warm enough. At his voice, she looked up at him. “You don’t even know me Atom…and you risked your life for me….” She touched his cheek gently. “Thank you…I don’t know how I’ll ever repay you…” She smiled softly. Suddenly he kissed her cheek and she felt her face flush. She touched her own cheek where his lips just were and looked down at her lap, biting her lip gently. Another rumble of thunder and crack of lightning hit the camp and she buried her face in his chest, trying to escape the storm no matter how impossible it might be. His words caused her breath to hitch in her throat. She lifted her head and looked up at him, biting her lip again and knowing that her cheeks were probably red once more. ‘Umm. Thank you…” She said quietly and buried her face in his chest again mainly to hide her blushing, but she could blame it on the storm. She wasn’t sure what was happening but something was. She had only known this man for half a day and something was stirring inside of her…and clearly him as well. He saved her from a certain death and hasn’t left her side. Something was happening and she was okay with it…whatever it was.

A smile crossed Atom's face as he snuggled closer to her when the next thunderclap made it's presence known. If it kept up he was sure that she would be in his lap. But then he didn't mind that at all. He was now hoping it might happen. He put his other hand up to gently hold hr head as she buried it in his chest. Then smiled at her her when she spoke. He would have saved her life anyway. But there was something more to it than that and he knew it. He was feeling different than he had this morning and he loved the feeling. He kissed the top of her head and cuddles her closer to him. He closed his eyes for a moment as he held her close to his heart. It seemed that she was his in a way now. He felt like he needed to protect her and keep her safe. He didn't want to fail her again and let her get hurt. But she didn't seem to blame him. 

He smoothed her hair out of her face and gently lifted her chin to look into her eyes. A smile appeared on his face as he spoke softly, almost in a whisper. "You don't need to repay me. I on't let anything happen to you again, if I can help it." He leaned in softly and brushed his lips across hers. Then he hugged her gently. He hated the thought of her getting hurt again and he was planning on being there to protect her at all costs. Yes she was a warrior like the rest of them, but that didn't mean she wasn't a woman and that she didn't want someone to be there for her. 

The storm seemed to get worse and the small bunker lit up from the lightening. He sighed and lifted her onto his lap and went back to cuddling her. He knew that this was going to be a long night of cuddling and hugging. He was not going to let her go.

Rylee closed her eyes as Atom’s hand drew her head closer to his chest. She gladly welcomed not only the comfort, but the warmth it provided. She hadn’t felt this cared for in who knows how long…and being in Atom’s arms certainly made it that much more enjoyable. At the touch of his lips to her head, she smiled and relaxed in his arms, despite the fact that her heart was racing at the storm outside. But he made it better… As he lifted her face to look at him, her eyes searched his. His words made her heart flutter…but his next action sent her on a roller coaster of emotions. Feeling his lips against hers, she barely had time to react before they were gone. She touched her lips gently and then smiled to herself. So something was happening…but nothing needed to be said on the topic. His kiss just solidified that. Whatever this something was…it was happening. The storm suddenly got worse and when the bunker lit up, she squeaked softly and got as close to Atom as she could. She felt him lift her up, effortlessly, into his lap and she appreciated the closeness. She was still a bit shorter than him despite being on his lap, but at least she was closer to his face this time. Rylee looked into his eyes and placed her hand on his cheek gently thinking back to the words he had just spoken, prior to him causing her heart to go into shock with his lips. “I just don't understand how you felt you could throw it all on the line for me...no one down here would have ever done that for me...You…you could have died..” She nervously studdered out in a whisper. “But I’m so glad you didn’t.” She took that chance and pressed her lips against his this time…what did she have to lose?

Atom close his eyes when she kissed him and his lips moved with hers. He thought he was in heaven as he felt her soft lips again his. He couldn't help holding her closer as he kiss her gently. She had him wrapped around her pinkie already and he would not be able to deny it. He rocked her gently because the storm was still going crazy outside. He hoped that they would be able to sit like this for awhile. "How are you feeling? I would do anything to protect you. I would have done it no matter what." He had reluctantly pulled back from the kiss to speak to her, but then went right back to kissing her softly. He hoped that he would be able to control himself and go no further than that. He would hate for her to think he was anything but a gentleman at this point. 

He could feel that he was warming her up slowly and that made him happy as he cuddled her. He loved the feeling of her warmth in his arms. She was so gorgeous and he was feeling so protective of her. It didn't matter now that they hardly knew each other. He wanted her to be his girl. Did he dare ask her? Would she be okay with that. He decided to wait a bit longer before he asked her, but for right now he held her gently and tried to keep her protected from the storm outside and make sure that she was okay. He was hoping that she didn't have a concussion. Smoothing her hair, he continue to kiss her gently.

Rylee was glad that her kissing was received well. It could have gone either way. But she was glad that she wouldn’t be left alone now during the storm. When he pulled her closer, she smiled into the kiss and pressed her hands against his chest gently and leaned herself more into his body. Suddenly he pulled away and she hadn’t realized how much she wanted him to kiss her until she no longer had his lips on hers. At his words she shrugged gently and smiled. “I mean I’m feeling as good as a girl can feel after getting thrown into a tree by a crazy raged grounder.” She laughed softly and his next words brought chills to her spine. She touched his cheek again gently. She felt her heart flutter when he said he would protect her. No one had ever risked her life for her except her mother. And her mother was now dead because of it. She didn’t want that for Atom. "Are you okay?" She asked but she couldn't even get an answer before she was distracted again.  He was back to kissing her before she knew it and she gratefully welcomed it. She slipped her arms around his neck slowly and let her lips match his with passion. Her body was slowly warming up but she wanted nothing more than to stay in his arms the whole night. She was distracted but happy. Everything was okay just as it was. She let the kiss go on and then she pulled back resting her forehead against his. “I wish we were at the bunker and not here…” She laughed softly closing her eyes. If they were completely alone at least they could…well…at least they would alone.

Atom could hear the storm dying down and he suddenly had an idea. His quarters were larger than hers, had an actual door and a bed big enough for two. It was one of the perks of being second to Bellamy and working for Pike, though he wasn't really in agreement with Pike's ideas. He knew that she would be warmer there and no one would bother them. He had already given Abby that look and she felt that they both needed rest, so she would make sure that they wouldn't be bothered. He placed her hand back on his cheek and held it there. "Would you like to go to my quarters? I have a door and it is a bit warmer than here. More space." He didn't even mind if she moved in. But right now he was just offering her a warmer and more private place to be. 

He kissed her nose as he waited patiently for her answer. He had not ever invited a girl to his quarters before and yet he had no problem with inviting Rylee. He felt that he could do more for her there and he had food. Something that he also had privileges for. Food and water. It wasn't a ton of food. Rolls, dried meat, some nuts and berries. But he was a teenage boy and always hungry. It would feed them both for the night. He thought he might still have some wine, but he didn't say anything to her, just in case he didn't. Jasper frequently visited and well, he might have found the stash. "What do you say, beautiful?"

Rylee let him take her hand and put it back on his cheek. She smiled as he held it there. His words made her blush. And then he kissed her nose. She laughed softly. He was so playful and she loved that about him. She wasn’t pressured to do anything or be anything. She could just be herself…gosh she nearly died in front of him and he still treated her like a normal human. He called her beautiful again and then her blush returned. She looked into his eyes and smiled nodding her head gently. “Yeah…I think that sounds perfect…” She kissed his lips. She didn’t want to stop, but she knew if she didn’t stop now, they’d never make it to his quarters. And she wanted nothing more than to be alone with him.It wasn’t that she was heart set on anything happening, but being alone with him sounded better than ever right about now. Rylee gently stood up off of Atom’s lap, reluctant to be out of his arms, and ran her hands up and down her arms to get herself warm again. She stood in front of him. “We better hurry to your quarters…because I’m getting cold again.” She smirked gently and stuck her hand out to him waiting to be taken away. She bit her lip in anticipation.

He took her hand and wrapped the blanket around her shoulders before he led her out of the quarters. He hated that he would have to take her out into the cold one more, but he wanted to make sure she was safe. Guiding her thought the muddy compound he kept hold of her hand and watched to make sure that she would not slip. Once they read his quarters, he led her into the room and closed the door, locking it behind him. He then turned around to face her. "Home sweet home." He like his room even though it was meagerly decorated. A bed, a soft arm chair and a small end table. But is was warmer and cozier than the cold place that Rylee had been living. It broke his heart that she had to live in such small quarters. He would speak with Pike the next day to see if she could be moved into something bigger, with a door. 

He smiled at her and motioned to the room. "Make yourself at home." Leading her to the bed, he waited to let he lifted the covers and pulled them down for her. It was a queen sized bed that had been given to him. Not that all the beds were this size, he just lucked out. He wasn't sure why. But he was glad at this moment because she could get some sleep and they would not feel like there was no room to roll over. He gazed into her eyes and then kissed her cheek once more. "I hope you like it. It isn't much, but I call it home."

Rylee smiled when Atom took her hand and the smile remained as he wrapped her up in the blanket again. He was so protective of her and she hadn’t expected anyone to be like that for her down on the ground…nevermind a man like Atom. She followed him through the mud and tried to focus on walking but found her thoughts traveling to him over and over. The way he smiled at her when he called her beautiful, the gleam his eyes got when he was worried about her, the soft yet deep sound of his voice when he spoke….they had only known each other for less than a day and yet she felt like they had known each other forever. Something special about Atom was bringing out the best in her. Somehow distracted by thoughts of him, she missed the entire trip to his room but was pleasantly surprised by the site. Hearing him lock the door, she turned to face him, an innocent smile on her lips. As he told her to make herself at home, she watched as he led her to the bed. She slipped her boots off and looked up at him as he pulled the covers down. She swallowed and bit her lip gently, her eyes closing as he kissed her cheek again, opening to look into his eyes once more. “You are so gentle with me…” She said softly, only above a whisper. Rylee crawled into the bed and sat up on her knees on the edge of the mattress, facing Atom as he stood before her. “I feel like I’ve known you forever…and yet I don’t know a thing about you.” She said while tracing designs on his chest with her finger before resting her hands gently against his chest. “Except that you’re extremely protective of me…and” She felt a blush rise to her cheeks before her next words, “a really good kisser…” She bit her bottom lip again, smiling softly.

Atom leaned in to kiss her once more than pulled her close to just cuddle with her. He couldn't help the thoughts that were going through his head, but he was more concerned about her and making sure that she was okay after what had happened earlier that day. He relaxed and spoke to her quietly. "You will always have my protection. At least while I am alive and able to give it to you." He wanted to keep her as his, but he knew that she had a say in the matter as well and that he would not cross a line without permission. He smoother he soft hair out of her eyes and smiled down at her softly. It was difficult to keep his control. she was right in his bed and so close. So warm. He had to get his thought on something else. 

"Are you hungry? Do you need anything?" He tried another tactic to get his mind off the thoughts that he was having. It was nearly driving him out of his mind. He kissed the top of her forehead and waited for a reply now, not wanting to do anything to ruin what they had at this moment. There was still time for everything and he wanted her well. That came first and foremost in his mind. he checked the covers to make sure that she was fully covered. He wanted to give a sense of security that was all but gone in this world for the kids. The delinquents had been through so much.

Rylee was glad her mention of his kissing caused another kiss to come her way. She was slowly becoming addicted to his lips and saw no problem with that. When he pulled her close, she closed her eyes and sighed happily at his words about protecting her. As he pushed her hair from her eyes, she smiled at his own smile and then looked away biting her lip. She was falling harder and faster than she had expected. At his question she turned her eyes back to him, shaking her head. “No…I’m fine..” She smiled again as he kissed her forehead. Wrapping the blanket tighter around her shoulders she looked up at him. “I’m just cold is all…” She smiled innocently. “I think you’re the only one who can fix that…” She spoke softly and bit her bottom lip again, a nervous tactic but it always came out especially when she was flirting with boys. But this time…it was genuine. She sat back on her bottom on his bed and looked up at him waiting to see what he would do next. Would he kiss her? Would he hold back? What would happen? She knew that nothing crazy was going to happen between them after having just met…but she was into whatever was happening. Her heart was beating out of her chest in anticipation..

Atom took her gently in his arms and cuddled her gently. A smiled cross his lips as he felt her warm body in his arms. He knew that she needed rest. The day had been long and trying for both of them. But more for her than him. He wasn't the one thrown against a tree with the sound of cracking bones that brought chills to his spine. He held her gently as he whispered in her ear. "You should rest, gorgeous. I will watch over you while you sleep." He smoothed the hair out of her eyes and kissed the top of her forehead. He was more than worried about her still as he felt her forehead. She at least felt cool to the touch so he was sure that she did not have a fever. He had promised that he would watch over her and that if anything happened he would take her back to medical. 

He gazed into her eyes now as he spoke gently to her. "I will see if we can go out again tomorrow if you feel up to it. Would you like that?" He knew how hard it was to stay inside the gate. Before the rest of the Arkers came down they were free to do what they wanted. Now they were having to ask to go out side of the gate. He hated that. He missed the 'Do whatever the Hell we want' motto. Now it was Do whatever the hell the adults wanted. He began to rub his hand up and down her arm gently, trying to soothe her. Though he knew that she was calm already.

Rylee closed her eyes and smiled when he pulled her into his arms. She was comfortable there and it felt okay to want to be there. After everything she had been through, in life, not just today, it felt okay to be in another man’s arms and actually enjoy it. As he whispered in her ear, a welcomed chill ran up her spine at the sound. At his words, she opened her eyes and looked into his as he moved the hair out of her eyes. “You need to sleep too…I think I’d sleep better knowing you were sleeping too…I promise I’ll make it through the night…” She smiled softly and placed her hand on his cheek gently. “I haven’t had a good night sleep since we got down here…since I was put in the SkyBox..” She shook her head gently. “But I think tonight could be different…” She just had a feeling that falling asleep in Atom’s arms would be nothing but comforting to her. She’d be in a real bed. She’d be warm. And she’d be happy. That could make all the difference. When he gazed into her eyes and spoke again, she smiled at what he said. “I would love that…” She said softly and leaned in and kissed him gently. She pulled back and rested against him gently. As he ran his hands up and down her arms, she smiled and knew that she was going to be more than happy tonight. Rylee reluctantly got out of his arms and laid down in his bed, under the blankets and smiled at the warmth. She looked up at him. “Please…you need sleep too…” She lifted the blanket up for him to join her. “I promise I’ll be okay…” She assured him again. She gave him her innocent smile again and waited for him to join her…..

"Okay. I promise I will rest. But I want you to rest as well." His voice was firm, but he wanted her to know that he cared about her. So there was a tinge of softness in it as well. He snuggled down into the covers with her and then kissed her forehead before his lips softly pressed against her in a gentle goodnight kiss. He closed his eyes and let it sink into the pillow they were sharing and he carefully pulled her over and onto his chest, so that she was laying on top of him like a blanket. He puffed up his chest to make it easier for her to rest her head on it and sleep. Wrapping his arms around her lightly he chuckled as he kept his hands loose giving her a chance to wriggle around and get comfy on top of him. "You hardly weight a thing. Now I have a Rylee blanket." 

He didn't want her to feel uncomfortable while she slept. When he finally got settled himself, he closed his eyes. A smile on his lip as he began to drift off to sleep. "Goodnight love." He was actually tired, though he did want to stay away and watch her. In this position he could feel her heart beat and feel her breathing.
