After a long day of riding through the woods, they had finally set up their tents for the night. During this day, Klara had noticed several things. First, their "scout", Jaga didn't seemed very experimented, Klara wasn't even sure that she was a scout and she felt that her experience as a scout will probably be useful during their journey and she was quite happy about that. However, another thing she had noticed worried her... It was Clarke... After all the time they had spent together months ago, Klara knew her well enough to know that she wasn't okay and she couldn't let her like that so she decided to go talk to her. That's why, as everyone was going in their tent for the night, Klara caught Clarke up and putting her hand on her friend's shoulder, she said " Wait. We need to talk.", hoping that she will accept and no go isolated herself in her tent. As she accepted Klara was glad to see that she was ready to talk to her. " Okay. First, I wanted to say that it's very good to see you again. I'm very happy that you are the leader of this group." she said smiling at Clarke, a smile that faded giving way to concern before she added " And secondly, I wanted to make sure that you're okay...". Klara knew that she wasn't but she wanted to see if Clarke was going to open up to her or if she will just pretend that everything was fine. Tag: Clarke Griffin

Leading a group wasn't easy, had never been easy. To do so in a state that was not exactly a good one, made it even harder. But it was something she had to deal with every day. She had kept to business all day, not wanting to loose focus on the task ahead. They had plenty of time to talk - if there was any reason to do so. The task was simply too important to slack on. Clarke had decided to watch out for the group that night, assigned rotations or not. She just had to be sure it was working, so she would be able to maybe sleep the next night.
She had just set up her tent the moment Klaras hand was on her shoulder. She jumped, prepared to defend herself, if necessary. But as she saw Klara, she relaxed. The friend was not the kind of person to take a life, she preserved life. Once Clarke thought the same about herself, but she's been proven differently - by herself. "It's very good to see you, too. It feels like it has been ages." But it wasn't. It wasn't that long. It was just how it felt to Clarke due to what all happened. She couldn't even imagine how long it actually was. "I am okay." She whispered. Of course she was - or was she? No. She wasn't. "Lexa died... because of me. i'm not really okay. But I have to function. This might be our only shot at survival."

" Easy, it's just me." Klara said smiling at Clarke as she saw her jumping when she put her hand on her shoulder " Sorry, I didn't mean to scare you.". Then as Clarke told her that it felt like it had been ages since they last saw each other, Klara was happy to hear that she wasn't the only one who felt like that. Shortly after Clarke departure, Klara had been obliged to leave TonDC with the orphans to keep them safe. She had hidden them in caves and had managed to find enough food. But Klara guessed that it had been harder for Clarke, she had probably been through more terrible things. As Clarke whispered that she was okay, Klara looked at her, her gaze was apparently so expressive that she didn't have to say that she knew that her friend wasn't okay before the latter one corrected herself. Klara listened carefully to Clarke before telling " Don't say she died because of you. I forbid you to think that it's your fault. Feeling guilty will kill you from the inside and I can't let that happen to you, you don't deserve that.". Klara knew what feeling guilty was, she had felt so guilty years ago after her mother's death and maybe it would have been easier to get through it if she had had someone to talk to, someone who would have supported her. And she wanted to be this person for Clarke so she was ready to bring her all the support she could. Tag: Clarke Griffin

“Maybe I’m already dead.” Clarke pointed out. With that she could do without thinking twice, maybe she was already dead. Maybe her soul was ripped from her body. But why was there still pain? Why did the thought of losing more of her people pain her? If she was dead, what did she care for her friends and family? If she was dead, shouldn’t she not care? Shouldn’t she stand there and watch them die, not feeling anything? But she felt. She felt so much.
“She died because someone killed her.” Not because of her. It was due to Clarke being there. But her logic prevented her from fully taking the blame. Yes, she was the one they wanted to kill. But she had neither asked to be that, nor had she pushed Lexa in the way. Someone else made the decisions for her. Like another time, Clarke had no choice. She had tried to run for her life and Lexa got in the way. “And still it was my involvement that started what killed her. I might have been able to save her, under different circumstances. The ground is a cruel place. Breaks all of us.”

" Don't say that. You still have loads of things to do down here... And I'm sure she would want you to continue what she started..." Klara told Clarke as she said she was maybe already dead " You're a warrior Clarke, you can't give up that easily..." she added. The young grounder knew how much it hurt, how hard it was but she also knew that even if it was hard, you couldn't give up, you had to go through your loss and go ahead. Clarke's first words reassured Klara a little, it was good to know that she didn't feel totally guilty but as she added that it was her involvement that had started what killed Lexa, Klara wasn't that reassured anymore. " You know what I think? I think that your presence and your involvement were what made her stronger... And people who saw it as a weakness were just blind..." Klara told Clarke. She took a breath before adding " You had already saved her several times... And unfortunately we can't win every time...". It was sad to say but unfortunately it was the truth, life was unfair. "One can see it like you do or another way." Clarke sighed. She knew by now how this all worked. It worked in appearances. It worked with peoples intention of liking and believing someone. If they weren't interested it was all too easy to see something else in the intention of another person. It was all too easy to misunderstand someone. It was all too easy to make assumptions about people they did not know. Clarke was one of them. She might have loved Lexa, but so did she love Finn. Both of them had shown sides she had not expected to see in them. And it acted with her, too. She was no longer the person she was before.
"I'm not sure saving her was wining." Clarke admitted. Partially maybe. But in the end at some points she should have killed her. "I think it's more complicated than that. There were times where I should have just killed her. Other times. It's not that easy here in politics. But whats easy is that we're all gonna die if we don't find a proper place to stay when the reactors burn down. I for one Don't want everyone I know to die."

" Well I guess it depends on what you know... And that's what I think based on what I know about you and what I knew about her but I totally understand that other people don't see it this way.". Klara didn't like the way people judged on others' appearences, she was the kind of person who thought it was important to give people a chance and to know about them before judging them. But unfortunately not everyone was like this especially now with everything that had happened. And if Klara hadn't been this kind of person, she may have met Clarke but they won't be friends like they were because if she had just judge her and based herself on what she had been told, she wouldn't have been that nice with the Skaikru girl. As Clarke said that saving Lexa may not have been winning, Klara frowned not really sure of understanding what Clarke meant but keeping listening to her. The Skaikru girl's next words made Klara understand what was going on " Yeah, that's what's on your mind about all that happened but I think you will need to tell someone what's on your heart some day if you want to feel better about it... And when this day will come, I'll be there for you if you want me to..." Klara stoped letting Clarke some time before adding" But you're right, for now we need to focus on finding a safe place to save everybody. But to do that our team need a strong leader who's concentrated on our mission and only on our mission all the time, so are you sure you can be this leader right now?" Klara didn't doubt of Clarke's abilities as a leader, she was glad to have her as their team leader but she both wanted and needed her to be okay so she could be focused on their goal and be able to make choices as hard as they might be. “Klara… thank you.” She was a great friend, even though they barely managed to spend time, but she figured that Klara was open minded. She was the kind of grounder who gave others a chance to explain themselves. She was the person who would let others speak before judging, she was the person to take history into account while trying to understand. If only more people were like her, then this world could be a better place. Then diplomacy would be so easy, because others tried to understand and compromises would be made for the benefit of all.
“I can be that leader.” Clarke finally confirmed. She could be that leader for her and Monty. They would let her lead. She wasn’t so sure about the others. “You know I can. I brought down the mountain being that leader. We did.” She looked at Monty. His presence was what also gave her confidence. She could be that leader, because she had at least two people on the team, who trusted her to make the hard decision and bear the consequences of it, even if it brought down her own sanity. IT was what she had to do. “But not tonight, Klara. We’re resting, tonight I can be just Clarke. I’m being the leader again in the morning. Toniiight I would very much like to be the firl that met you in the wilderness and became your friend. If you let me.”

Klara smiled and nodded at Clarke as a "you're welcome" before saying " Always.". Klara didn't want Clarke to thank her, it was normal for her, she had always been like that with her friends. If you were close to her, she was there for you no matter what happened. So when she had seen how bad Clarke seemed to be, Klara thought she needed to cheer her up or at least she needed to try to. That was how she was and she didn't need to be thanked for that but she was happy to see that she was helpful. When Clarke confirmed that she could be the leader they needed, Klara felt a little relieved, in her heart she knew her friend was able to be a great leader but she needed to hear her say it. " Of course I know. I just wanted to know if you believe it too.". But even if she knew Clarke was able to lead them well, Klara could see that her friend will need to rely on the Skaikru boy and her. " Of course not tonight... You need to rest like all of us..." she paused before speaking again " I will always let you... Come here..." she opened her arms to her friend to hug her. Clarke Griffin

Clarke stepped into the hug with a grin on her face. She was glad she could hug Klara again. With her it was easy. Their relationship wasn’t tainted by anything in the past. They had been open with one another and it made it something very valuable. With everyone else it seemed so much more complicated these days. There were so many decisions that she made, that made it hard to let herself fall around the other completely. But with Klara it was always straight forward. She never lied to her and Klara always accepted her, gave her a second opinion about her. It meant the world to Clarke.
“Come on.” She said, with a grin. “I think you and I should share the makeshift tent.” Really it was just a piece of fabric propped up on sticks, but it was more than enough for her and Klara to stay dry under should there be rain of any kind. Maybe Monty could come with them, too. But the other two… well she didn’t know them, nor did she trust them. Monty and Klara she trusted.

Klara was glad that Clarke stepped into the hug but she felt like her grin was hiding something. " Hey, can you at least tell me what's hiding behind that grin on your beautiful face?" Klara asked a smile full of concern on her face. Clarke was a very good friend which made her family for Klara so she was worried about her like any member of a family could be for his relatives. Klara was like that with all her friends and people she considered as family. She was worried and could be overprotective. That was how she was, in need to know that everyone she cared about was okay. But with Clarke it was different, loads of people saw her as Wanheda because of what she had to do in Mount Weather but Klara was one of the few who didn't and she kept seeing what was best in her friend. " Well... I was going to stay out here and be on guard for a moment... And before you say anything I know it's not my job but I also know I'm not the only one not trusting the two others... But if you want me to share the tent with you, I'm coming." Klara said with a smile for the last part. If she was in the tent with Clarke it meant that she could still protect her so she was totally okay with this idea. Plus, it would probably be more comfortable than being sit on some tree stump alone or with people she didn't trust not far from her. Clarke Griffin

“Just relief.” She replied, gently. “That I have you as a friend. After so much time where I felt like there was no way I could regain people’s trust, you do. And with several people, there is no way they will forgive me, despite their own war crimes. But they are hypocrites and they are the ones who think they decide which war crime is morally better. You? You are just a genuinely good friend. And I adore that. That’s why I grin.” And that was the main reason. The other one was much simpler, yet so much more important sometimes. “Besides: I haven’t really been hugged in a while. Feels good, you know?”
Clarke knew her motivation was sound. But it was a stretch. They needed them to be well rested. If the other two wanted to do the watch, that would be fine. Otherwise the three of them would share every night between them because they had no reason to trust the others. “We should rest, Klara. I know it’ll be hard, but we need our strength.” They needed it rather desperately, too. If they wanted to find a way to survive. “We should sleep. They will somehow manage to keep watch, I would guess.”

Listening to Clarke, Klara found herself smiling at the girl as she was saying how glad she was to have a friend like her. " You should stop saying that or I will end up believing it." She said giving her a wink to let her know she was joking. Then she took a more serious tone and added " More seriously, that's not that I want to defend people... But I don't think they're all hypocrites. I think a part of them don't know how to deal with their war crimes so they don't even trust themselves which makes trusting someone else very difficult... But the others are just stupid people who don't see how a wonderful person you are." And when Clarke told her she hadn't been hugged in a while, Klara told her " I haven't been hugged a lot when I was a child so I got a lot of hugs in stock if you need." Klara knew that Clarke was right, the fact that they had no reasons to trust the others shouldn't prevent them from resting and sleeping otherwise their mission was doomed to failure and it couldn't happen. But if she had to go in the tent to try to get some sleep, Klara would keep her dagger with her during the night to be able to protect the others if something happened. " Okay, I'm coming. Let's just hope you're right about them." Klara told her friend, she trusted her so if she thought that the two others could manage to keep watch them she was ready to let them a chance. “You can believe it.” Clarke said. Out of all the people she knew, Clara was a person who got to know her. She didn’t know her as how innocent she used to be. She knew her as this person. And she liked this person it seemed. They were friends. Friends were hard to come by these days.
“It is hard to overcome war crimes. I can’t believe the hypocrisy sometimes. We allowed someone to be sacrificed for a war crime, but others live for more murders committed. Sometimes I don’t get it." The motivation was different, but at the same time that was something that should be judged. And then again nothing should be judged. “Hugs should be infinite.” Clarke grinned at the woman.
But now it was time to rest. They would have to rest if they wanted to stay on top. She honestly didn’t care about the other two grounders and never would by the looks of it. Neither seemed invested, interested or trustworth. Just pawns in someone elses game.

" Stop, you're going to make me blush." Klara said smiling at her friend before adding " Seriously, you know I will probably never believe it. Not that I don't believe what you say but I just can't..." Klara answered. Klara wasn't the best person in the world, she had done some bad things too. And knowing that nobody was perfect didn't make her any better. But she was also aware that the things you had to do to survive didn't have to define you, that was why she got to know Clarke and was now her friend. " Yeah, some wounds don't heal easily even after a long time... But with some more time and some speaking, they always end up healed. But by the time they do, other wounds have appeared because people don't know diplomacy, they only understand violence..." That was a sad thing to say but unfortunately it was true. Loads of people were all about violence and didn't seem to be able to give some love to others. Clarke and Klara weren't like these people, they were able to hug each other and to feel how good it felt to hug someone. " I definitely like this idea" Klara said smiling. As Clarke told her before, they should rest so after glancing at the two other grounders for a moment and even if she didn't trust them at all, Klara went in the tent wanting to get in it before she changed her mind.
