This is my Fight Song--TAKE BACK MY LIFE SONG, PROVE I'M ALRIGHT SONGLaughter wasn't the most encouraging reaction Harper could have received to her suggestion. The reaction had Harper wondering if it had been a stupid thing to suggest, if she should have brought something else up. She might not have so quickly felt that way if she were already feeling on edge about where they were going. Distraction didn't work 100%. Maybe it would but it definitely wasn't quite yet. Then, Nina had a good point when she asked where they would go. There wasn't much potential for dates inside Arkadia. It was a place made for survival and protection, not romance. Still Harper liked the idea of a date and taking that time out and putting the effort into doing something with Nina that was at least a little bit romantic.
Maybe they couldn't inside Arkadia but outside the gates was a whole different story. With the ceasefire going strong, it wasn't completely unsafe to be outside, proven by the fact that her and Nina alone had been asked to walk all the way to Mount Weather. "We could...find somewhere clear outside and look at the stars one night," she suggested, her tone a little less confident than it had been before. The idea sounded a bit silly even to herself and maybe Nina would see it that way. It was out though and if Nina thought it was silly then she thought it was silly. "Maybe we could bring some food," she added, shrugging. "Something other than those nutrition bars, hopefully." It would be relaxing and fun, and it would be something out of the ordinary. After having to go through the trip to Mount Weather, Harper knew she would appreciate the idea more than she might otherwise. |

Nina frowned when she heard Harper's tone of voice. It was then that she realized that she had openly laughed at her idea. She hadn't meant to dismiss the idea of a date so quickly. It was just that people didn't go on dates down here so the idea of doing something so normal seemed out of place. But she could tell that going on a date was somewhat important to Harper so she wanted to give her that. The idea of hanging out under the stars was a nice one so Nina nodded and smiled at Harper. "That seems like a good idea," she said. Even the idea of bringing food was a nice notion. Maybe they could even get their hands on something decent.
Sighing, Nina stopped walking and turned to stand in front of Harper. She placed her hands on either side of her neck and looked at her. "I'm sorry. I didn't mean to laugh. It's a great idea - I'm just not used to the whole dating thing," Nina confessed. She had always been about hooking up and that was it. There was no need for dates when that's all she wanted. But she already knew Harper was different so she had to start thinking differently when it came to her.

This is my Fight Song--TAKE BACK MY LIFE SONG, PROVE I'M ALRIGHT SONGNina's reaction was more encouraging than her last had been. The smile and nod, followed by a confirmation that she thought the idea Harper had given was a good one. It allowed Harper to more confidently think that the date might actually happen, that it wasn't a completely silly idea. "Great," she simply replied. It also seemed like quite a back flip from the laughter that she had gotten at her first mention of the possibility and idea. Well, she guessed that didn't matter too much. Whether Nina really liked the idea or not would become clear later, when it either happened or it didn't. Harper couldn't find much motivation in herself to push the idea past what she had already said. As much as she was completely overjoyed about her and Nina, and the fact that they had come to learn they held similar feelings...as well as acted very enthusiastically on those feelings, this was new between them and she didn't want to push Nina.
She also was finding her general mood drooping because of Mount Weather growing closer. That was a given, though. Harper would be surprised if she had been feeling perfectly fine about going there. There was definitely a want for it to not affect her like it did but her mind and the memories, the pain that had come from the Mountain, a positive outlook on the place wasn't going to be particularly possible. Harper was a little surprised as Nina stopped, her hands moving to Harper's neck softly. "It's fine," Harper quickly said in reply to her apology. "There's no time on Earth to date." She forced a smile onto her lips, the comment meant to come with humor, even if it was completely truthful. "I'm sure we could make some and do something fun, followed by something else fun. Take advantage of the time we have." |

Harper claimed that it was all fine, but Nina didn't necessarily believe her. But she wasn't going to push her, as she had never been one to push people to talk about things they didn't want to. Sometimes it bit her in the ass, but most of the time it was why people enjoyed being around Nina. She wasn't constantly annoying them to talk about things they didn't want to. Nina nodded her head. No, there wasn't any time to date on Earth. Hell, there had hardly been time to date on the Ark. But that had been because of Nina's hectic schedule with training and work. She had always been so busy so it was no surprise that she never had any time for real dating. Hooking up? Absolutely. But never dating. Her schedule had always been so busy that her only friends were those that were in the guard, and even then she wasn't too fond of her options.
"We'll do something, I promise," Nina said. She dropped her hands from Harper's neck and grabbed her hand. The two continued to walk and Nina realized that they were actually much closer than she thought. Nina laughed at Harper's insinuation of doing some other fun things. Nina was always down for that, especially with Harper. "Why do I get the feeling that we won't be leaving my room when we get back to camp?" Nina teased, grinning at Harper.

This is my Fight Song--TAKE BACK MY LIFE SONG, PROVE I'M ALRIGHT SONGHarper liked hearing the promise from Nina, that they would try and go on a date, that they would do something. It was encouraging to hear coming from that initial reaction that Nina had given to the idea but Harper wouldn't hold Nina to that promise. If the date never happened, if Nina was uninterested in the idea when they got back to camp, Harper wouldn't push for it to happen. As much as it was a hopeful idea and one that she held to some importance at this moment, she wasn't so attached to it that she couldn't see the fact that even Harper might not care about it as much once they were back in camp, away from -- hopefully -- even the mention of Mount Weather. Harper had done dates in the past, in her teenage years on the Ark, but even she would admit that hookups were a lot more common experience.
That was especially true since arriving on Earth. Harper had hooked up back at the Dropship and never had her mind ever strayed to the idea of dating, things had just been too busy and on edge for that sort of thought. And when it came to time in the bedroom, Harper was looking forward to more of it with Nina. The words from Nina's mouth brought a much more genuine smile to Harper's face as they started walking again, now closing in on Mount Weather. "Because we won't," Harper said, a tease to her words. There was a lot more comfort in herself than there had been on the subject of the date. More confidence as well. "It sounds like the most interesting place to be, with the most beautiful views--" Harper's eyes glanced over at Nina, running up and down her body with intent. "--and the best entertainment." As cheesy as her words were, and she knew they were, they were filled with nothing but truth.
They didn't get much further after that before a movement caught Harper's eyes. She stopped, squeezing at Nina's hand to grab her attention but she dropped it, leaving both her hands free in case she needed them. There was another flash of movement, this time on Harper's other side and she realised it was coming from high up. From the trees. Harper knew who used the trees and while there was ceasefire going, she still felt the need to get her gun out. Something felt off. Before Harper was able to take out her weapon, something sliced past her, just barely missing her head as it did. Once it was past her, Harper's eyes followed it, able to recognise it as a knife and one that was made by a Grounder. Harper moved to go for the knife by its owner was quicker, a man jumping down from the trees and landing just in front of blade. He picked it up from the ground. She laughed at Harper's confirmation of her suspicion. Not that she minded not leaving the bedroom, especially if Harper was involved. But she knew it would be frowned upon when it came to any daily duties, but Nina knew she would be too enthralled with Harper to really give a damn. Her words only made her grin and she could feel Harper's eyes on her. Glancing over at the blonde, she shot her a wink. She could already picture it. Being in bed with the beautiful blonde for hours, with the sheets wrapped around their bodies. It was erotic and seductive and Nina simply couldn't wait. But for now, they had to get through this. They had to get their asses to Mount Weather so they could do whatever stupid task they had been set with. Nina had half a mind to turn around. They would be of no help to those already there. But Nina knew that disobeying any orders wouldn't bode well.
Nina could feel the tension course through Harper and she froze. She hadn't even needed the girl to grab her hand to let her know something was wrong. The two were aware of their surroundings and right now their surroundings were telling them something wasn't right. Something was there. Or someone. The Grounder made its presence known by throwing a knife, attempting to get Harper. Nina quickly turned, eyes wide at the sight. Her hands quickly repositioned themselves on her gun and she aimed it at the Grounder, ready to pull the trigger when she could get the shot. To hell with the cease fire. This Grounder obviously wasn't playing by the rules and if that was the case, Nina wouldn't either.
But before she could pull the trigger, the Grounder launched at her, knocking her gun from her hand and making her fall against the forest floor. Nina landed with a thud and groaned, looking up to see that the Grounder had returned his attention to Harper. Moving quickly, she got up from the floor and lunged at the Grounder, jumping on his back and wrapped her arms around his neck in an effort to cut off his oxygen supply. But her grip didn't last long when he stuck his knife in her arm, causing Nina to release him and cry out in pain.

This is my Fight Song--TAKE BACK MY LIFE SONG, PROVE I'M ALRIGHT SONGWhen the grounder picked up the knife, Harper's hands again went to take out her gun, this time managing to get the weapon out before she was attacked. There was a reason for that, however. Harper turned to Nina and saw the grounder now in her direction, knocking her gun out of her hands and pushing her off her feet. An anger stronger than Harper would have expected to feel shot through her, accompanied by the thought that only she was allowed to push Nina to the ground, not some stupid ass grounder. Emotion was something that Harper often tried to turn off during a battle but she hadn't really had the chance or the thought, going from the conversation that her and Nina had been having before they had been attacked. She put the effort into it now, closing the door in her mind, trying to shut off the distractions that she knew from experience would only get her into trouble.
Like they had now. That momentary distraction was enough for the grounder to be heading back in Harper's direction, quick steps lessening the time Harper had to shoot. Her gun was gripped in both hands, pointed up towards the man... but her finger never pushed done on the trigger. Nina got in the way. Harper watched with wide eyes the situation in front of her as it unfolded, the grounder walking towards her and Nina jumping onto his back. It honestly wouldn't have been a move that Harper would have even thought of doing but as she saw Nina's arms wrap around the neck of the man, she realised what a good plan it was. If they could knock him out rather than killing him, they wouldn't have the break the ceasefire to get out of this alive. That mattered to Harper, she liked having that freedom to leave camp and she sure as heck didn't want that destroyed because of her own finger pulling the trigger of her gun.
That plan didn't last long. Harper was moving towards the two, ready to help, to at least get the weapon off the grounder but she wasn't quick enough. Lunging as she saw the knife begin to move through the air, Harper hit her gun against the wrist of the grounder. Too late. Nina's cry of pain cut through the air as sharply as the blade that had stabbed her. But Harper had at least been successful in getting the weapon out of the grounder's hand again. Ducking down to avoid a blow from the man, her boot slid across the ground, kicking the knife far away from all of them. The grounder attempted another blow at Harper and this time she wasn't ready to avoid it. Her body hit the ground with a thump and Harper groaned, eyes frantically looking at the scene around her. Nina's arm was bleeding and the grounder had already begun the direction in which Harper had kicked his knife. And, of course, Harper had managed to drop her gun when she fell. The stab wound wasn't terribly deep but it was deep enough where the blood continued to pour out of her. It didn't take long until her hands became stained red. She had to put pressure on it to try to stop the bleeding, but she knew that her first course of action had to be getting rid of this grounder. Her thoughts were momentarily interrupted at the sound of Harper being tossed to the ground. Fear rushed through her body and she knew it was because she didn't want anything to happen to Harper. Especially since they had just confessed their feelings to one another. No. Nina wouldn't lose her before she even got her.
The grounder quickly moved towards the knife that Harper had been able to take from his grasp. Nina quickly rolled over and grabbed her gun. She had to let go of her arm and the blood kept coming, but she was too focused on getting rid of this grounder and protecting Harper to really notice. This time, with no hesitation, Nina aimed her gun and shot at the grounder. Her bullets hit him several times in the back, and if she was lucky, one had gone straight through to his heart. The grounder stopped moving and then sunk down to his knees, a hand over his chest where the bullet had left his flesh. A moment later he collapsed to the ground, dead, or at least close to it. "Harper!" Nina said with concern in her voice. Her hand reached for her wound and she quickly pressed down on it. "Are you okay?" She asked. Nina had to find something to wrap around it. Reaching for her bag, Nina opened it and quickly pulled out a spare tank top. She ripped a few shreds of fabric, using her teeth while holding down the shirt between her elbow and thigh. To be honest, she hadn't even thought about asking Harper for help. Nina simply wasn't used to asking for help.
Nina already had an idea on how to get rid of the grounder. But first, she had to stop herself from bleeding. She already felt a little light headed from the loss of blood, even though she knew it couldn't have been much. "Help me wrap this?" She asked, motioning towards the cloth strips on her lap. After this, she would tell Harper her plan and the two would get moving. Nina didn't want to risk having anyone see them. The ceasefire could be ruined because of one stupid grounder, and she wasn't going to let that happen.

This is my Fight Song--TAKE BACK MY LIFE SONG, PROVE I'M ALRIGHT SONGGunshots rang in the air, making Harper jump, her attention being fully focused on getting back to her own gun. Her back ached as she moved and while she was sure the fall to the ground hadn't done too much damage, it had caused her enough pain that she could notice it. That was saying something, knowing the amount of pain Harper had been through in the past, and the way that she liked to believe her tolerance had probably been improved because of that. It looked like she didn't need to worry as much about getting her own gun, however. That was good and put her under less pressure to move so much given how her back felt. The grounder was now laying on the ground, hopefully dead. That meant that they had technically broken the ceasefire but Harper could only feel relief at seeing the grounder like that. He couldn't hurt Nina anymore than he already had.
The next sound that followed was that of Nina's voice, asking if Harper was okay. A smile came to Harper's face despite the pain she felt, at the fact that Nina was asking if she was okay when Harper had no visible injuries. It was Nina who was bleeding, still, and needed the most urgent attention. Harper knew that something would need to be tied around the wound to stop the bleeding and that they should probably go straight back to camp so that it could be treated. The last thing needed was Nina getting an infection, Harper couldn't face the idea of losing Nina, especially to something like that. "I think I should be asking you that," Harper said as she grabbed the end of her shirt, reading to rip a strip of fabric off of it. Nina was quicker though and Harper instead focused on getting to her feet so she could moved over to where Nina was.
It wasn't easy but Harper ignored the pain in her back, getting to her feet relatively quickly and walking in Nina's direction. She grabbed her gun on the way, gritting her teeth as she leaned down to pick it up. The last thing they needed was someone else passing by and picking up the gun, although the sight of the dead grounder might be more of a worry in that situation. For now, however, Harper wanted to focus on Nina and getting the bleeding of her wound to stop. Harper nodded at Nina's request for help, tying the strips of fabric around the wound, making sure to put enough pressure onto it. Once that was done, Harper looked up at Nina's face, concern in her expression. "You're going to be okay?" she asked. She pressed a soft kiss to Nina's lips before she let herself take a step back and bring her attention to the grounder. It was the next thing they needed to worry about. "What are we going to do about him?" |

Harper had a point. She supposed she should have been the one answering that question. But it wasn't something Nina could really help. Thinking about Harper's well-being at a time like this was just automatic. "I can't help it," Nina mumbled. She always thought about other people first, especially when it came to people she cared about. Her eyes watched as Harper took the cloth and started to help cover her wound. She was thankful that she put the right amount of pressure on it, even though she held back a wince as she did so. She didn't need someone that would hold back, afraid that they would hurt her. She needed this wrapped nice and tight, especially if she was supposed to carry out her plan for getting rid of the grounder. Once Harper had finished helping her, she smiled into the soft kiss Harper pressed against her lips. "I'll be fine," she said.
Sighing, she stood up from her spot on the ground and looked down at the Grounder. She was hoping that all of the bullets had left on the other side, but she knew she couldn't be that lucky. Three bullets had got into the grounder from what Nina had counted. She kicked the grounder over so he was on his back and she looked for any exit wounds. Only one. Fuck, she was screwed. Sighing she turned him back over and went to work on the two bullet holes that still held the chunk of metal. "Take the bullets out," Nina began to explain. "And make it look like he was stabbed to death. Harder to trace back to us if there aren't any bullets." She pulled out her knife and set to work on the wounds. She stuck her finger in one bullet hole, trying her best not to gag at putting her finger inside of dead flesh. The tip of her finger touched the bullet but she couldn't pull it out. She would have to make the wound bigger. Reaching into her bag she pulled out her knife and stuck it into the grounder, widening the wound. She worked until she was finally able to pull the bullet out. Looking at the bloody silver, she glanced up at Harper. "One down, one to go," she winced. "Do you think you can find the one that exited his chest?" Nina asked, going to work on the second one.

This is my Fight Song--TAKE BACK MY LIFE SONG, PROVE I'M ALRIGHT SONGIt was definitely sweet to hear that Nina couldn't help wanting to ask about Harper's well-being, even when she was the one in an obviously worse condition. It made Harper's heart swell a bit, still in a discovery about these feelings that they finally knew each other held. Although Harper still felt like their attentions needed to be focused more on Nina than Harper, on the one with a bleeding wound. Which they did, and Harper was happy that she managed to bandage the wounds in a good enough way, happy for the basic first aid training that came with the other guard training they did. Although this was something that seemed pretty obvious, stopping the bleeding of a wound. Well, Harper hoped that Nina was right in saying she would be fine. Harper was still set in thinking that they would have to turn around and go back to Arkadia after this incident, once they had cleaned up the mess that was created.
Harper let her eyes move back over to Nina as she stood, watching her just to be sure she wasn't going to fall or anything like that. Honestly, Nina couldn't have lost that much blood but Harper was being safe rather than sorry. That couldn't be helped, she cared too much about Nina to not want to make sure she was going to be fine. She followed Nina in walking over to where the dead grounder was, cringing as Nina kicked him over onto his back, noticing the one exit wound. At the mention that they would have to take the bullets out, Harper wondered just how many bullets had entered the grounder. She looked down at the man's back, eyes taking in the three entry wounds and finding herself taking a small step back. She wasn't one to get queasy at blood and stuff, but digging around in a dead grounder to get out bullets didn't sound like something she could do without likely puking.
Even watching Nina stick her finger into the bullet hole had her feeling a bit unwell. The idea was a good one, getting rid of any evidence that could directly point the death back to the Arkers but that didn't mean it was any less gross. Knowing it would probably make things a lot easier for Nina is Harper worked on one bullet while she did the other, Harper still didn't make any move to do that. She instead found herself watching their surroundings for any signs of people, whether grounder or Arker. This whole thing would look bad no matter who saw them. There was definitely relief when Nina eventually tasked Harper to find the third bullet. She hadn't thought about that, that grounders would even bother looking for a bullet if they found someone who looked to be stabbed to death but she guessed they could always come across it. The less chance of this to break the ceasefire, the better.
"Yeah, I can do that," Harper said, not even bothering to hide the relief in her voice at not having to take a bullet out of the grounder man. She began her search, through grass and leaves and dirt. The search only had Harper noticing just how many leaves there were on the grounder, creating a blanket over the actually dirt and any greenery that grew from it. It didn't take too long, however, until she saw a flash of silver and picked up the bullet with a smile and then a cringe in pain from her back. She was sort of hoping that the pain would go away on its own, and it had at least dulled down from when she had first hit the ground. "I've got it," Harper said as she turned back towards Nina. "How's that other bullet going?" Hopefully it was out already. |

This was probably one of the grosser things Nina had ever done in her life, and she was certainly not a fan. But she was thankful that Harper had agreed to go elsewhere to find the stray bullet. She didn't want the blonde to see her face of disgust, or to see that she was having a hard time doing this in the first place. Nina had spent her whole life making people believe that she was much stronger than she actually was, and this time was no different. She supposed it shouldn't have been a big deal. If her and Harper ever wanted to even try a relationship, she was sure that she should trust the girl to see the real her. But Nina had a hard time putting that guard down, especially in this moment with so much at stake. She would show Harper her weaker side at some point, just not now.
Mirroring her earlier actions, Nina dug out the second bullet using her knife and fingers. Her hands were covered in crimson liquid and she couldn't wait to wash her hands. Nina had no problem killing the grounder. It had been second nature to her, especially when it came to protecting Harper. But she didn't like the sticky feeling of blood on her skin and she didn't like the idea of mutilating this body even further. "Yeah," she said, answering Harper's question. She stuck her knife in the third wound, the one where the bullet had left the body. She flipped him over and did the same on the front, hiding the exit wound from the bullet. Standing up, Nina looked down at the grounder then over at Harper. The two bullets were in her hand and she held onto them tightly, not wanting them to slip through her fingers due to the blood. "We should move," Nina suggested. She had no intention of someone finding them now. Not after all the dirty work she had just done.
Nina led the two of them down the hill and towards a small stream. It wasn't big enough to take a bath in, but she would at least be able to wash her hands and the bullets. She would hold onto them until she got back to camp. "We should head back. I'm not going to Mount Weather after that." Nina was still undecided on whether or not she would tell Kane about the incident with the grounder. Well, maybe she would tell him but just wouldn't tell him that he had died by her own hands. Perhaps she would say that they had outnumbered him and he had run off with an injury. Once her hands were clean and she had cleaned the bullets enough to put them in her pocket, she turned to look at Harper. "Did you hurt your back?" She asked. She could have sworn she heard the blonde wince when she had bent over earlier.

This is my Fight Song--TAKE BACK MY LIFE SONG, PROVE I'M ALRIGHT SONGHarper was glad that Nina had gotten the second bullet out. Stopping a small distance away from Nina and the grounder's body, she watched as Nina hid the bullet wounds on both sides of the body and tried to ignore the blood that was thick on her hands. It was difficult to work out that the blood would be a mix of Nina's own and the dead grounder's and that honestly wasn't the most pleasant of thoughts. Harper couldn't imagine it would be pleasant for Nina either. Once the bullet wounds were covered and between Harper and Nina, they had collected the three bullets, Harper nodded with enthusiasm at Nina's suggestion that they should move. "Definitely," Harper said, no complaints on that thought. She held the one bullet she had tight in her hand and followed Nina as she began to walk.
Arriving at the stream, Harper quickly got to work washing the bullet, getting rid of any bits of blood and dirt that had managed to stick to it. "We can go back and get your shoulder checked in medical." That was the main reason Harper was using for them turning back now, a real worry with her that the injury could grow into something worse if it wasn't looked after properly. Honestly, though, she was also glad that she had some sort of excuse to turn back now. She still felt panicked at the thought of going back to Mount Weather and it was a good thing to her that she could avoid it. So close yet she didn't have to take that last bit of distance. She didn't have to actual see the facility or go inside of it again. Putting the bullet in her pocket, she glanced at Nina to see that she was doing the same with her bullets. There would be no chance of the grounders thinking that man was killed by a gun and that was good.
When Nina asked about her back, Harper was a bit surprised. Her eyes widened slightly for a moment, not having thought that Nina would have actually noticed, since she had been focused on the grounder and on her own worse injury. While it had still hurt to lean down to wash the bullet in the stream, Harper didn't think it was something that she really needed to worry about. The initial pain had faded a bit and as long as it continued in that same direction, there was no need for her to be worried. "Just the impact from hitting the grounder," Harper said with a shrug, wanting to make sure that Nina didn't get overly worried about her when it wasn't necessary. "I'll be fine." She gave Nina an encouraging smile. "Should we start back to camp?" |

She couldn't help but to smile at the evident surprise on Harper's face. Had she been under the impression that Nina hadn't picked up on the fact that Harper's back seemed to be bothering her? Nina always picked up on things like that, which contributed to her fighting skills. But now she would have to make sure Harper didn't push herself and that if they needed to rest, that they rested. Nina's arm would be fine, but she didn't want Harper to push it. With their luck, that would only leave her more immobile and it would taken them longer to return to camp. "Well you'll have to stop being on your back so much then," Nina teased, sending a wink Harper's way.
The two of them began their journey back to camp. Nina didn't even care that they hadn't completed their mission, which she found pointless anyway. But if for some reason, Kane got all pissy about it then she would take the blame. She had asked Harper to come with her because she had wanted to spend time with her. So Nina sure as hell wasn't going to let the blonde get into trouble. But she would deal with that when the time came. For now, Nina focused on what she was going to say when they got back. They could still stick to the story of a grounder attacking them. She would tell the truth in that the grounder stabbed her. But she would leave out the part about shooting the grounder and eventually killing him. As far as the others knew, the grounder had run off after one of them had wounded him with one of their knives. As they walked, Nina explained the plan to Harper so that the two were on the same page. The last thing she needed was the two of them telling different stories. Then not only would they get into trouble for killing the grounder during the ceasefire, but they would also be yelled at for lying about it.
Camp Jaha came within view and Nina sighed in relief. "Finally," she said with a huff. The trip back had felt shorter but Nina was thankful for that. She wasn't sure how they would have fared if they had been forced to make camp again. But she supposed that was due to them getting up at first light and trying to finish their journey. Looking at the sky, Nina guessed that they had a few hours of sunlight left. Realizing that, she understood that their trip had actually taken them the same amount of time as before. "Let's get to medical," Nina said, walking with Harper into the camp. Nina nodded at a few guards and they eyed her wrapped arm but didn't say anything. Entering the med bay, Nina looked around for a doctor. Abby was usually always in here, but she couldn't spot her. Instead, she spotted one of the nurses she knew, named Lauren. Lauren spotted the girls and walked over, frowning at the sight of Nina's arm. "What happened?" She asked. "A grounder," Nina explained. "Can you just clean it and wrap it back up? Then maybe check out Harper's back. She landed on it wrong." Nina looked over at the blonde and offered her a soft smile.

This is my Fight Song--TAKE BACK MY LIFE SONG, PROVE I'M ALRIGHT SONGRolling her eyes at Nina's tease, Harper couldn't help the smile on her face as she replied. "I guess you'll be spending more time on your back, then?" she said, teasing Nina back and honestly meaning the words at the same time. There was an excitement at the idea of spending time with Nina on her back and Harper on top of her. Hopefully they would get to spend a lot of time like that, even with their busy schedules of training and working. Harper guessed she could likely count it as exercise at least and it wouldn't be a bad thing for her to be doing. The future was really looking bright, at the lack of need to go to Mount Weather now -- or the excuse to need to turn back towards him -- and the new change in the relationship between her and Nina. Her gaze rested on Nina for longer than need be, taking advantage of the moment and the thought of how many more of those moments they would get to have.
The journey back to camp was mostly uneventful. No grounder attacks. No issues. Also, sadly, no camping in a cave. Honestly, Harper couldn't have asked for a better walk back. They were both injured, enough that they wouldn't be their best for a fight and that could make the difference between life or death against a couple of rogue grounders, and they knew that there were rogue grounders now. Not all of them agreed with the ceasefire. Harper couldn't say she was surprised about that, the majority of the grounders weren't that trustworthy when it came to alliances and deals, as proven by past incidents. The one eventful thing that did happen on the trip back to camp was Nina laying out the story that they were going to stick to, avoiding the fact that they had ended up killing the grounder and likely saving themselves from a lot of trouble in that regard. Harper knew that killing a grounder wasn't looked greatly upon, she was sure the context still wouldn't put them in that great of a light.
When the camp finally came into view, Harper's smile grew and her bones seemed to relax. They were safe again. "Finally," Harper agreed, her own breath leaving her in relief. As much as the trip had seemed shorter, thanks to them not having to camp out again, Harper's legs were definitely aching and she was ready to sit down. Hell, she was ready to sleep. With a nod at Nina's words, they both headed over to medical. It was a place that Harper had become way to familiar with after the events of Mount Weather and being there after a trip to the place, even if they didn't actually make it there, was the slightest bit unnerving. Harper's eyes scanned the room, a frown settling onto her face. The nurse came over, asking what had happened, and before Harper could say anything, Nina explained the situation. She was the one with the worst injury so that was probably best.
The nurse did as Nina asked, cleaning the stab wound on Nina's arm and rebandaging it. Harper watched the process. eyes more on Nina's face than on what was actually happening. She sat at the edge of a cot. "Looks a lot less worse when cleaned," she said, a smile beginning to settle more onto her face as the initial discomfort of the room faded. The nurse nodded, not looking up from what she was doing. "If she keeps it clean, she'll be fine," the nurse said, and Harper believed her, letting the worry go. She had recovered from a lot worse under the watch of the doctors and nurses in medical, the one thing she had for them was trust in their knowledge. Once Nina was fixed up, the nurse's attention turned to Harper. "The pain's fading, I'll be fine." Harper didn't want to make a big deal of her back but she also wasn't lying, the pain was fading. The nurse still insisted on checking out Harper's back, and ended with telling her to get some rest. Nina Eaton || Feel free to take them wherever like to get food or to one of their rooms |
