This is my Fight Song--TAKE BACK MY LIFE SONG, PROVE I'M ALRIGHT SONGHarper herself stretched as Nina spoke, having almost forgotten about it in her distraction. Sometimes she wasn't sure how she managed to train well with Nina, if she hadn't been such a good person to train with, she was sure that the distraction of Nina would have made it pointless to try. As she listened to Nina's suggestion, she automatically found herself not liking it. Sitting out on a training session didn't sound like a good idea to her, she felt as if she needed every opportunity to train and practice. As it was, she often felt as if she were behind everyone else, the weakest of the group. And having to watch someone else spar with Nina, that wouldn't have been easy for her either. She was sure she would have quickly found herself jealous. But then Nina added on to her suggestion, offering to sit out with Harper and the idea did sound better. Not perfect but if Nina was willing to sit out with her, she would give it a go. "Okay, I'll give that a go," she said with a nod. Anyways, she could always have extra training sessions with Nina to make up for it.
Nina walked over to her and Harper's breath caught in her throat for a second as the other girl's hands sat on either side of her torso. She kept her eyes on Nina's face as she spoke, forcing herself to keep a straight face. This was definitely one of the reasons that she had suggested training. Harper nodded her head at Nina's raised eyebrows, showing that she was listening. And she was. Nina had told Harper this before but she would still listen in hope that the words might suddenly unlock a secret about how Nina managed to do what she did. Harper's eyes glanced down when Nina mentioned feet but with how close the other girl was standing, the main view wasn't either of their feet. Harper definitely felt a tinge of disappointment when Nina stepped away, her hands falling away from Harper's sides. If Nina had been watching, she might have even caught the way Harper's lips turned down at the corners for a second.
"The only downside about training here," Harper confirmed. Although she guessed it would give them some more realistic experience and have them working hard to keep themselves upright and safe. Even with that thought, Harper knew that she was going to be extra careful. She wasn't going to allow any chance of hurting Nina. "We'll be careful." She smiled and with that decided that this might be a good chance to catch Nina by surprise, if she had any chance of that. The one thing she had been particularly working on at that stage was a headlock, wanting to be able to quickly disable a threat and knowing that it would allow her to use the pressure point on the neck that she had been taught about. She moved towards Nina, trying to move quickly, her hands up in fists as if she were going to attack. Instead of moving to attack Nina, however, she moved one arm up in an attempt to wrap it around her neck from the side. She was thankful that Harper agreed to sit out on a training session with her. She thought it was important to observe the others, especially if they were to ever be paired up with someone else. Although, Nina doubted that would happen given that she often helped Lincoln and Bellamy run the sessions. But she promised to train with Harper outside of the sessions so they could make up for their missed one. Nina didn't mind spending any free time she had training Harper. Not only did she prefer to spend her time with the blonde, but she would be helping her which was an added bonus.
The only downside with training was that sometimes you couldn't go full force. Nina never really went all out when training with Harper because she didn't want to hurt her. She felt less bad when she was training with someone else. Nina didn't think she was providing Harper with a disadvantage. She still did all the moves she would normally do, but she didn't put as much power into them in fear of hurting her favorite sparring partner. Nina knew that working up a pain tolerance was probably part of training but she didn't like the idea of putting Harper in pain, especially on purpose.
Nina watched as Harper came towards her for the attack, fists raised like they were supposed to be. Her eyes glanced down at her feet and watched Harper move towards her. Flicking her eyes back up she noted the girl had her arm raised in an attempt to lock her in a headlock. Harper had actually managed to take Nina by surprise. She supposed she had picked the wrong moment to look down at Harper's feet and by the time she realized it, it was too late. Normally she would probably twist the person's arm, flipping them over her shoulder so they would land on the ground, but Nina decided not to do that. Not only was she proud of Harper for surprising her, but she didn't want to hurt her. Once Harper's arm was wrapped around Nina's neck, she moved her elbow back to make contact with Harper's abdomen. People with lesser skills often used this tactic and it was the only alternative she could think of to flipping her over her shoulder.

This is my Fight Song--TAKE BACK MY LIFE SONG, PROVE I'M ALRIGHT SONGHarper was pleasantly surprised by the fact that she actually managed to get Nina into a headlock. As much as she had been trying to use the element of surprise, it was not an easy thing to do around Nina and she hadn't in any way actually expected it to work. For a short moment, she let herself smile and be proud of herself but that moment was short lived as Nina's elbow slammed back into Harper's abdomen. She should have been ready for that. By that stage in Harper's training and the fact that Nina always tended to go easy on her, the pain from a move like that was minimum but due to the way she hadn't expected it, her grip on Nina's neck loosened, allowing the other girl a chance to escape the headlock. Harper knew that Nina would use that opportunity. She had sparred with Nina enough to spot to know the other girl was quick.
Trying not to think too much about her next move, Harper used the arm not around Nina's neck to grab her elbow. Not pulling too harshly as to not hurt Nina, she twisted the other girl's arm between the two of them and behind Nina's back. With the fact that they were training in a cave, Harper had decided to focus more and stopping Nina from attacking her, rather than being the one to attack. She felt as if that would be the best way to keep them both from falling or landing against the hard, stone walls. As an added bonus, it allowed Harper the most opportunity to touch Nina. With them training as they were, alone in a secluded cave, she couldn't help the direction where her mind was going. Although it wasn't going to help her in paying attention to the training that was happening. If she let herself get distracted, say by the fact her own hand was brushing against Nina's back as it held Nina's arm, she would end up as the one in the most pain by the time they were done. Nina Eaton || Harper's seeming like she'll end up trying something different to fighting. |

She knew that Harper hadn't been expecting the blow to the stomach and Nina knew she would have to point that out. Had her stomach been tightened, it wouldn't have hurt as badly. But from what Nina could see, she appeared to recover from the blow quickly, grabbing her arm and twisting it behind her back. Nina was proud of Harper for not falling in on herself, even if the blow hadn't been that hard. She knew it still hurt. One of Nina's hands went to Harper's arm that wrapped around her neck, trying to shove it in between her throat and her arm so that she could get some air. Harper wasn't completely cutting off her oxygen supply but she certainly wasn't helping.
Nina tried to think of a way to get out of Harper's headlock without hurting the other girl too much. She couldn't always go easy on Harper, she knew that. It wouldn't benefit her and Nina wanted her to be the best fighter she could be. Nina hooked one of her feet behind Harper's ankle and tugged, sending the two of them onto the ground. She did her best to slow down the fall, also making sure she didn't land on Harper too hard. Using the fall to her advantage, Nina quickly maneuvered her way out from under Harper's headlock, tugging her arm from her grip as well. She quickly rolled around and sat up, sitting on top of Harper. She moved her feet back and locked them over Harper's knees so she couldn't move them easily and she grabbed Harper's wrists, holding them onto the ground on either side of her face.
Grinning down at the girl, Nina attempted to catch her breath. "That was good!" She said with a smile. "I was caught off guard by the headlock, so bonus points for that. But my elbow would have been a lot less painful had you been tightening your stomach." But Nina also knew it was hard to keep every part of your body ready for an attack. It took a lot of stamina and she knew they were both fairly tired from walking several hours.

This is my Fight Song--TAKE BACK MY LIFE SONG, PROVE I'M ALRIGHT SONGHarper did no expect what Nina did to get out of the headlock. Harper's grip obviously hadn't loosened enough from the elbow to her stomach. Nina's hand had tried to pull her arm away but failed to get any grip and Harper started to worry, just a little bit, that she was putting too much strength into the headlock. She didn't want to actually hurt Nina in any major way. Nina apparently didn't have the same idea in mind, however, as the other girl hooked her foot behind Harper's ankle and pulled them both down to the ground. That was going to hurt. Harper was completely caught off guard by the move. It took her a moment to even realise her feet had been pulled off balance and by the time her mouth opened to scream, she had already hit the ground and couldn't find the air to scream. If she hadn't been too preoccupied with the fact that she had been pulled to the ground, she might have been thankful about the fact she didn't scream.
On the ground, Harper knew she needed to move out from under Nina. The impact left her sore and she was a little dazed by it but she still knew she couldn't let that stop her. In a real fight, her being sore or dazed wouldn't be any reason for the other person to stop. She needed to fight past that. Her legs tried kicked out while her torso and hips twisted in an attempt to either wriggle out from under Nina or move her off, she wasn't too sure which she would have managed if she'd had the chance to really try it. She wasn't quick enough in her moves though, Nina was faster and had both her legs and arms pinned down before Harper had much of a chance at all to get away. Once she realised that she didn't have a way of getting away from under Nina without likely hurting them both, she just decided to relax. Her muscles loosened and her breathing deepened.
After letting them close for a couple of moments, Harper opened her eyes again to meet Nina's gaze. Nina's eyes looked bright as she smiled down at Harper and Harper couldn't do anything but smile back. Yes, she was in pain from that fall but to see Nina smiling like that, to see Nina above her like that - well, Harper held no negative emotions towards the older girl. Quite the opposite, really. As Nina spoke, Harper did hear what she was saying. She sort of heard what she was saying. It was becoming difficult. Nina was sitting on her, pinning her to the grounder and Harper was becoming extremely aware of what fact. Of Nina's weight on top of her. Of the way she had Harper's hands pinned next to her head. Of the way Nina's hair hung around her face. Harper's breath sped up slightly, her heart quickening in her chest.
Harper's gaze began to move, from Nina's eyes down to her lips, then her neck, and her chest. Taking their time, her eyes slowly moved back up to look into Nina's again. She forced them to shut again, racking her brain to remember what Nina had said. She hadn't tightened her stomach, that was it, and that was why Nina's elbow had hurt enough for Harper's grip to slightly loosen on Nina's neck. She focused on that as her eyes opened again, attempting to keep herself in control. "I'll remember that for next time," she managed to say, her voice only shaking the smallest bit on time. Although she was sure it sounded lower than normal. There was only one thing she wanted to do in that moment and she wasn't too sure how she was keeping herself as controlled as she was. To be plain, Nina looked hot and she was sitting on Harper. Harper wanted to kiss her, and well, probably do a lot more than just that. |

Due to Nina's eyes being locked on Harper's, she saw the girl look down her face and land on her chest and Nina felt a small blush rise to her cheeks. Luckily, she could blame it on the exercise. Nina knew that sometimes it was hard not to look, even if you weren't interested in someone. She knew that if someone had their boobs in her face, she would be looking regardless of how she felt about the person. But it was a little more difficult given how Nina felt about Harper. As far as she was concerned, she cared about the girl in more than a friendly way. But she had always kept those feelings to herself because she trained Harper and didn't want anything to ruin their friendship. Nina had never really labeled her sexuality but found herself very attracted to the blonde that was currently beneath her. Not only was she gorgeous, but she was also a very kind person. It was the combination of both that had Nina liking Harper as more than just a friend.
She watched as Harper closed her eyes and Nina furrowed her brows, concerned that the girl was hurt. She released her wrists and sat up slightly, resting her hands on her thighs. "You okay?" She asked. She remained sitting on Harper but had given her a little space. Nina had been too distracted by the fact that she was on top of Harper to really think about whether or not she had hurt the girl. She didn't like the idea of Harper being hurt, especially due to her own actions.

This is my Fight Song--TAKE BACK MY LIFE SONG, PROVE I'M ALRIGHT SONGWhen Nina let go of Harper's wrists, Harper felt something between disappointment and relief. Her heart continued to flutter in her chest but she did her best to get her breathing under control as she watched Nina sit up slightly. There was definitely a strong feeling in disappointment as she watched that, feeling as if some of the magic of the moment had been broken, even if it was likely for the best. Nina created more space between them by sitting up, between their faces specifically and for that reason Harper was also relieved. It would take a lot more time and effort for her to kiss Nina now. She wasn't going to be as likely to ruin the friendship they had. As much as she wanted more from their relationship, as much as she found herself craving more and more to be closer to Nina - not just because she was attractive, and she was, but also because she was strong and she was kind and she had stepped up into a position to help Harper when she had really needed it.
Harper found herself searching Nina's face for any sign that she felt anything at all similar to Harper. Any sign to give her some confidence to make a move. It was the fact that Harper cared so much for Nina that made it so difficult to say anything about it. She wasn't someone who was usually shy, she made her wants known and didn't have any trouble getting people into bed if she found them attractive. If it was just Nina's looks that Harper appreciated, she wouldn't be as scared as she was. All Harper found on Nina's face then was worry and that didn't tell her anything. Nina had pulled her to the ground, anyone would be worried after doing that to someone. "I'll be fine," Harper finally said. Her voice was clearer by then and sounded as it normally did. Maybe she would just be able to move past the moment, but then maybe she wouldn't.
Taking in a deep breath, Harper lifted her head and shoulders off the ground. Her back ached at the movement, just a slight pain to remind her that she had landed on a hard surface but nothing she couldn't ignore. She propped herself up, hands flat on the ground next to her and arms straight. Suddenly, she felt vulnerable and scared, and the emotions showed through her face. But she also felt a strange sense of confidence that made her want to say something. "Nina..." she began, the word trailing off as she tried to think of something to say. She didn't want to let this pass, to not make a move. It terrified her, the thought of losing Nina, the chance that the other girl wouldn't like her the same way. But then maybe she didn't need to say anything, maybe she didn't need to put her emotions out on the line in that way.
Her hands pushed off the ground and Harper sat up until she was face-to-face with Nina. From there she could feel Nina's warm breath escape through her lips as she breathed. Harper's hands moved to rest on Nina's sides, as Nina's had rested on Harper's sides earlier in their training. Without pausing to check Nina's face, worried that she would just chicken out, Harper closed the gap between herself and Nina. Her eyes shut before she pressed her lips to Nina's. The kiss was light and uncertain but Nina's lips were soft. Harper had kissed many people before, she was usually confident in it but she was allowing Nina every opportunity to pull away if she wanted to. Harper wasn't going to force her into anything. As much as she hoped that this would work, that Nina would actually hold feelings for her as well, below it all she wanted to also do all she could to be sure she wouldn't lose the girl completely if she didn't feel that way. That was the most important thing. Nina Eaton || Harps made a move. Your move now, Nina |

She knew Harper would be fine but it didn't really answer her question of whether or not she was okay in that moment. But Nina kept her concerns to herself, knowing when to push for answers and when to leave something alone. It had definitely been a good thing for Harper when Nina had tried being there for the girl after Mount Weather. She had never pressured Harper into talking about what had happened to her. Nina was not one of those people that thought talking about it helped. She preferred to put her emotions into something physical such as fighting or even sex. And since she really couldn't offer Harper the distraction of her own body, she had offered to help her with fighting. Nina had to admit that she had been a little nervous about training Harper at first. She had been unaware of what the girl had been through so she didn't know if she would have any form of PTSD and if she would have any triggers. Knowing Nina's luck she would be sparring with the girl and the next moment Harper would be screaming and falling to the ground. Luckily none of that happened and two had continued to train together.
Her eyes followed Harper's movements as she pushed herself up from the ground. She supposed she should get off of her but she found herself not moving. Not only did she not want to move, but for some reason the energy Harper was giving off had her a bit mesmerized. Uncertainty and insecurity showed on Harper's features and Nina frowned. She didn't know what was giving those emotions to the blonde but she didn't like it. Nina kept her gaze on Harper, especially after she spoke her name. Nina wanted to urge her on. What did she have to say? Why was she acting so nervous? Nina hardly wanted to get her hopes up that Harper felt the same way about her, otherwise she would have simply sped up the process and kissed the girl. The feeling of Harper's hands making their way to her sides caused her heartbeat to increase. Nina remained still, afraid that any little movement would scare her and their moment would be over.
Their lips connected and it took Nina a moment to realize what was happening. Harper was actually kissing her. Not wanting Harper to think she wasn't interested, Nina quickly returned the kiss, even going so far as to deepen it. One of her hands went to rest on Harper's arm and the other went to the back of her head, not wanting her to pull away. Nina put all of her emotions into the kiss. She wanted Harper to know that she felt the same way about her.

This is my Fight Song--TAKE BACK MY LIFE SONG, PROVE I'M ALRIGHT SONGAfter what felt like the longest moment of Harper's life, she felt as Nina's lips began to move against her own. Nina was kissing her back. Nina was kissing her back and it felt like a dream. Part of Harper couldn't actually believe that was happening. Of all the times they had trained together, it had always been friendly. Sometimes Harper thought that she saw something, whether it be Nina's eyes wandering or a facial expression that suggested the other girl felt more but she had always brushed those off as nothing. If Harper liked Nina of course her mind was going to try and view everything in that way. But this, the kiss, it couldn't be something that she was just making up in her mind. Her gamble had paid off. All of the nerves that Harper had been holding faded away and her muscles relaxed into their embrace. She allowed herself to get lost in the moment.
Nina's hands moved onto Harper's arm and head, they felt warm on her skin, leaving it tingling even through her hair. Harper took them as encouragement and deepened the kiss even more. One of her hands moved around onto Nina's back, pressing slightly to pull them closer still. She was putting her all into the kiss, all the emotion that had built up from their months of training. All the times she had wanted to kiss Nina and had made sure she didn't, she was making up for it then. The amount of times she had touched Nina before in training, hundreds of times probably and she couldn't remember it feeling this good. She couldn't remember Nina's touch setting her skin alight as it was then. She couldn't remember being so aware of Nina's body under her fingers, like the dip of her spine or the way the side of her stomach felt both soft yet firm. The kiss felt better than any kiss she had experienced before. |

She felt Harper relax beneath her and she was glad. She had been upset at the idea of Harper being tense because she had hurt her. But it appeared that she had been tense because of the situation. Nina was unbelievably glad that she had decided to kiss her, allowing Nina to relay the similar feelings she held for the girl. It was strange how it had all started. Sometimes Nina would notice the way Harper smiled and would note how she had a great smile and how her smile made her smile in return. Harper had an infectious smile in her opinion and she guessed that was what had started her slow burning infatuation with the girl. It had continued when they started training together, the physical contact and close proximity got to Nina's head, appealing more to her physical desires than her emotional ones. After that things appeared to just progress over time until Nina knew she had a full crush on the girl. She had felt like such a silly teenager, having a crush on someone. Nina couldn't remember the last time she had a crush on someone and Harper had certainly been the first girl she had ever really liked in that way.
Jostled by her thoughts, Nina felt Harper's hand press on the small of her back, urging her closer. Nina didn't want to push her limits but she felt like she was unable to stop now that they had started. She gently pushed Harper down so she was lying on her back again, and Nina rested her body on top of hers, putting all of her feelings into the kiss. The hand that had been behind her head now rested beside it, trying to take some of Nina's weight off of Harper. The other hand that had once graced a spot on her arm now rested on Harper's hip, creeping past the fabric of her shirt and feeling the soft skin of her abdomen. Her fingers traveled higher and she touched Harper's ribs, running her thumb back and forth over the bones.

This is my Fight Song--TAKE BACK MY LIFE SONG, PROVE I'M ALRIGHT SONGThis time as Harper was pushed to lay flat on the ground, her breath left her for a different reason. The image of Nina leaning over her earlier filled her mind and added to the feeling of Nina's body pressed against her own. A moan escaped her lips and for a split second she worried the sound would scare Nina off. That thought quickly faded, however, as the kiss continued. In her mind she focused on the memory of Nina's eyes, the way they had been glowing with her smile, alive with the adrenaline that would have been running through her body from the fall. To see that joy and that life, it was probably what made her take the risk and kiss Nina. Harper often felt like she never saw joy anymore, not with everything that had happened since they got to Earth. It felt to her that if she didn't take advantage of the moments she did have, she would do nothing but fight and mourn. She didn't focus on that thought though, it was too difficult to stay thinking about much but what was happening there and then anyways.
Trailing up Nina's back, along the fabric of her shirt, Harper's fingers found there way to Nina's hair. Trying to be careful about not pulling her hair, Harper removed the hair tie that was keeping Nina's hair neatly pulled back. She threw the tie off to the side as Nina's hair fell to surround both their faces. Without a pause, Harper's fingers tangled in Nina's silky hair. Harper couldn't remember the last time she'd had her fingers in hair so long, she had definitely stuck to male population since they had arrived on Earth. Although her teen years on the Ark spoke a different story to that, if only due to teenage curiosity. Her fingers tightened in Nina's hair at the feeling of the other girl's hand slipping under her shirt. Slowly, Harper pulled back from the kiss, lightly pressing her lips once more to Nina's before she opened her eyes to meet her gaze. That might have been a good moment to stop but Harper was too caught up in the moment to even think about that. Harper's lips grazed against Nina's chin, teasing, before she placed a trail of kisses down onto her neck. Nina Eaton || NIIIINAAAARRPEEERRR *continuous fangirling* |

The moan that left Harper's lips only encouraged Nina. It was the only verbal response she had received from the girl since their makeout session had started. Nina took the moan as a positive response, as anyone else would, and continued on her escapade to invade Harper's personal space. She felt goosebumps on her back from the touch of Harper and she felt the girl grip her hair, tugging the hair-tie out and likely tossing it aside. Nina would have to make a mental note to find it later, seeing as hair-ties were sort of hard to come by down here. She felt her hair cascade down her sides and create a curtain of privacy between their faces. The feeling of Harper's fingers running through her hair felt amazing. Had she not been so invested in their kissing, she probably could have fallen asleep from Harper playing with her hair.
She felt Harper pull away and Nina opened her eyes to look into Harper's. She wasn't sure how her eyes actually looked, but Nina knew that she was feeling happy for the first time in a long time. She was happy and absolutely enthralled in the moment with Harper. She didn't want to leave this cave. She didn't want to go to Mount Weather. Hell, she didn't want to bring Harper to Mount Weather. Nina half wanted to just turn around and go back to camp in the morning. But she knew she would only get into trouble and while Nina didn't care so much in term sof herself, she didn't want Harper to get into trouble because Nina had been selfish. She just wanted to spend more time with Harper. More time spent doing exactly what they were doing now.
She grinned as she felt Harper press soft kisses against her chin and down her neck. A small chuckle left her lips and Nina pulled back slightly so she could look at Harper again. A genuine smile formed on Nina's features as she looked down at the blonde. One of her hands reached towards her face and pushed a strand of blonde hair to the side. "I'm glad you kissed me," Nina confessed, a smile still on her face. "How long have you...?" Her voice trailed off, hoping that Harper understood what she was asking.

This is my Fight Song--TAKE BACK MY LIFE SONG, PROVE I'M ALRIGHT SONGNina pulled herself back a bit, forcing Harper's lips to separate from her neck. At that Harper whimpered quietly, the sound hardly audible. The move wasn't a bad one, however, as Harper got to watch Nina as her face lit up with a smile. Yeah, she had just been making out with Nina but in a way she was enjoying watching the smile even more than she had been enjoying the kissing. Not too much more but slightly more. She couldn't imagine a better feeling than seeing someone genuinely happy and knowing that she was the reason for that. It made her chest warm, as well as causing her face to break out into a smile of its own. Harper would have likely been happy to just stay in that moment forever, in the silence and smiles. It would have been a wonderful moment to live in forever, compared to how the majority of time seemed to be on Earth.
Her eyes shut lightly for a second, a long blink, as hair was brushed back from her face. It was a gesture that left her feeling loved. If it were physically possible, Harper would have smiled even more for it. The first thing Nina said was all Harper could have asked to hear. A confirmation that she really had done the right thing in kissing Nina and that Nina was truly happy about it. Harper let her relief show through her face, not bothering to hide it as she might do in other situations. "I'm quite happy you kissed me back," Harper said, a slight teasing tone to the words. Becoming aware of the ground below her head, Harper propped herself up on her elbows. It both got her head off the hard ground for the period of time before Nina decided she would push her down again, and it also made it slightly easier to look at Nina.
"Wanted to do that?" Harper finished Nina's sentence, or what she thought Nina's sentence was supposed to be. She laughed lightly. How long had she wanted to kiss Nina? Well, the easiest answer to give would be that she wanted to do it for a long time. How long had she found herself attracted to the girl? It was almost tricky to go back and find a time when she hadn't been distracted by her touch in training or wishing to spend more and more time with her. It was probably the most difficult question Nina could have asked because it felt like always. "A while," she began, the question now forming in her own mind about whether Nina had wanted to kiss her before then. The kiss had definitely made it seem like that but then maybe Nina was just a great kisser. "Not just today, in case you were thinking that." She paused for a moment. "At least a month, really," she admitted, a blush colouring her cheeks.
With that admitted, she turned the question back in Nina's direction. "And, well, did you - do you...?" Like Nina, she couldn't quite finish her own question. She had to admit that some of her nerves were back then. Kissing Nina had cleared them but now that it was over, that they were talking, with things not clear Harper found herself with some slight nerves again. Harper felt more than just a physical attraction to Nina, she was sure about that but what if Nina didn't feel the same way? What if she just saw the situation as a way to sex and nothing else? Harper guessed she wouldn't have pulled back to talk but still, the questions swarmed around in Harper's mind and she almost wished she was still kissing Nina. |

The smile on Harper's face was infectious and Nina felt herself grinning even more, if that were at all possible. She was glad to hear that Harper was equally pleased that Nina had returned the kiss. Nina watched as Harper propped herself up slightly, bringing their faces closer together, even if by just a few inches. She listened to her talk about how long she had wanted to do that and Nina felt happiness radiate through her body. The blush on Harper's cheeks only made Nina smile even more. For some reason she loved it when Harper blushed, probably because it appeared to be such a rare occurrence. Knowing that Harper had wanted to kiss her for at least a month made Nina feel adored and wanted. She was glad to see that her feelings were not unrequited, as she wasn't sure how she would have handled that now that things appeared to be out in the open.
She wasn't surprised when Harper turned the question onto herself. In a way, she had been trying to figure out her answer for a while now. "I guess a little while after we started training together," Nina confessed. It hadn't been right away, but it had developed over time, like most great things did. "Like the first time you actually beat me in a match?" Nina grinned at the memory. She had been so proud of Harper, not even caring that she had lost. "It might have been then that I really knew," Nina said. But like Harper, she had never wanted to say anything in fear of things not going how she wanted them to go. Nina climbed off of Harper and laid on her side, facing the girl while being incredibly close to her. "I just cared about you too much to let you know, in case things didn't really work out like that."

This is my Fight Song--TAKE BACK MY LIFE SONG, PROVE I'M ALRIGHT SONGHarper was sure that her heart was going to beat so fast it would fly out of her chest. As she listened to Nina speak, her smile didn't falter. Nina gave the answer that Harper had hoped to hear, really, it was an even better answer than she could have expected. They had been training together for what felt like so long now and to know that during most of that time Nina had liked her. Well, it was almost too much for Harper to believe. With all the emotion bubbling inside her, all she wanted to do was pull Nina's face to hers and kiss her again. But she didn't because Nina wasn't finished and Harper wanted to hear everything she had to say. To know every little detail and put the pieces together. It would make things that bit more believable, the more details given. It would help Harper to know that this wasn't just some dream, that she hadn't passed out hitting her head when Nina had originally pulled her to the ground.
There wasn't any difficulty in bringing up the memory Nina mentioned. Harper couldn't forget the first time that she had actually beat Nina. She remembered how she had felt so overjoyed but at the same time, she had wanted to cry. With everything that had happened, to be at a point where she was strong enough and skilled enough to beat someone like Nina, she knew she would be okay from there on. With all the emotion she had been feeling then, some of it had definitely been because of Nina. She wasn't sure if she really knew how much she cared for Nina then, she just knew that Nina had taken Harper under her wing and spent so much time and effort training her when she hardly even knew the younger girl. That may have been an important moment for Harper too in realising what Nina meant to her, when she thought back to it. The clearest thing she remembered was the look of pride on Nina's face, looking at Harper like a proud parent or a proud partner.
With Nina's last comment, Harper laughed, a simple puff of air from her mouth as her eyes twinkled. "That's how I felt as well," Harper admitted as she turned onto her side to face Nina. Their faces were so close that Harper could feel Nina's breath. "I didn't want to lose you completely. I don't know what I would've done if you'd pulled away from the kiss." Harper leaned forward then, closing the small distance between them. This time as she kissed Nina, she was confident and her lips were anything but hesitant. This kiss was slower and more passionate than the fast, feverish kisses that they had fallen into before. Harper let herself soak it in. She payed attention to all the nerves in her lips as they lit up with each movement against Nina's lips and she let herself know it was real. Completely real. A moment of happiness that she wouldn't wake up from. And when she knew that, she pulled out of the kiss again. "I don't know how I got so lucky for this to happen." Nina Eaton || So many feels. This thread will actually kill me. |
