| FIGHTING FOR FREEDOM FIGHT OFF THE DEMONS THAT MADE US |
Aurora Blake had been a close friend of Leo's since they were children. He even cared for her son time to time. Bellamy and Elena, his daughter, got along well considering their ages. It was strange going so long without seeing Aurora happening around the ark. Leo spent most of his daylight hours in the factories, overseeing work orders and keeping things moving. Still, after work he was used to running into the woman. It had been two weeks though... Two weeks with no contact, no run ins. He saw Bellamy and would ask how she was, but his answers were vague. It worried Leo. What could possibly be wrong with Aurora? He was worried she had done something-- but surely if she had, they would have heard about it before now.
Leo left Elena with her grandmother today after work to make the trip to Aurora's apartment. He just wanted to make sure she was alright. If she wasn't, she would find a way to help her. If he could. Slowly he knocked on her door after a moment of hesitation. "Aurora?" He called lightly. "It's me. You in there?" If she was hiding from the world she didn't need to answer... but he couldn't imagine what she could be hiding. Or what could be keeping her locked up and out of the public eye. Her work didn't require her to be anywhere specific, but that didn't mean she chose to be alone always... he was worried.

It had shocked Aurora to no end, that she was once more pregnant, but what was she supposed to do? What was she supposed to tell people? She couldn’t get rid of an unborn child. But as the time passed it got more and more dangerous. There was no way. Aurora changed everything about her routine. While Bell still went to school, she had time to work on a solution. She could work from home full time. Usually she went around to collect her projects, but that was out of the question now. She could not do that when she grew big. She had to have fabric cover her growing stomach. And it was growing. Every day without fail. Usually she would give Bellamy parts of her rations, so hed grow strong. But with a baby, she needed it, so his sibling would grow.
Aurora was getting her cover ready, making sure she had plenty of fabric to cover her, when she heard the knock. She quickly threw a robe on – she had to endure the smell, otherwise she would not have gotten it. It was her friend. For a moment she froze. He’d know something is wrong. He’d see it in her face immediately. But not opening would be worse. She could trust him, right? She usually could. Well she had to now. Aurora opened the door, but made sure it still didn’t show her. Looking to him from behind the door, she smiled. “Hey Leo. How are you?”

Immediately Leo was suspicious as Aurora opened the door just enough to peek out from behind it. Needless to say, it made him worry all the more. He kept his eyes on her and tried to figure it out. Why would she hide something from him if she was in trouble? One by one he ruled out possibilities based solely on the fact that she didn’t open the door and welcome him inside. Nothing had gone missing that he was aware of. Aurora had nothing to do with the black market. She was a seamstress, not a dealer of any kind. If she was sick then she would have gone to medical as long as it wasn’t bad enough. She was beautiful of course, but besides the usual pale skin from lack of decent nutrition and the thin frame nothing gave off any indication of illness. She could have been hiding somebody...
“I haven’t seen you in weeks...” he said gently as he leaned against the wall. Subtly, he was looking behind her in what little of the apartment he could see. Still no indication of anything wrong. Instead he looked back at her while also wondering if Bellamy would know what was wrong. Though a brilliant child, it’d probably be easier getting information from him. That was a malicious thought though, considering that the intentions behind it weren’t malicious at all. He just wanted to help a friend, even if that meant risking getting floated. Bell needed his mother. Leo needed his friend. “Something’s wrong... right? Tell me what’s going on. I want to help Aurora... I’m worried about you.” He stood up straight when he decided he wasn’t going to learn anything from that angle. “If you’re in trouble I won’t say anything.”
