Rylee made her way to the tree that was trapped inside their gates as the sun rose that morning. She was either up at dawn or up at midnight. There was no in between for her. This morning, since she couldn't get back to sleep, she pulled on her boots and made sure her knife was in place. Pulling her jacket over her arms, she found herself at the tree....
She ran her hand over the bark seeing where she had made marks previous mornings. She had made some kind of target on the trunk and had used it to practice. So far, it had been working. She walked away from the tree, about ten feet back and pulled her knife out of her boot. Looking around, she saw that no one was around. She had no mercy for anyone who got between her and her blade. She couldn't control it once it left her hand....so she had to be sure there was no one around.
Lining the blade up with the target, she pulled her arm back and threw it hard against the wind. The blade circled through the air, blade up and landed smack dab in the middle of the target. Looking up at the tree's markings, Rylee smirked....She walked back up to the tough bark and pulled the knife out, wiping away any shreds of the tree from the blade. Walking back to her spot, she went to throw again and heard another set of footsteps..she waited to see if they were coming near the tree before throwing again, smirking at the satisfying sound of the blade digging into the bark.

If there was one thing that Atom had grown the most fond of while being on the ground, it was the way the colors painted the morning sky during sunrise. He had been on early morning patrol and he caught the end of the morning sun creating colors that he had only seen in books. The way the sky seemed to burn with bright shades of red, orange, and yellow. The sight was enough to get him to volunteer for as many patrols as he could... even offered to patrol alone. Maybe not the smartest move, yet it allowed him time to reflect. Time to just be alone. Being alone on the ground wasn't the safest or smartest idea, but it Atom did it anyway.
After he fastened the laces to his boots, Atom retrieved a long pike-esque weapon. It was a crude attempt at a weapon with a fairly jagged edge of drop-ship metal that had been sharpened down. It was meant to keep attacks a far enough distance, so that a defender could call out for help without gets his guts or throat ripped out. Those fears didn't exist to Atom in the mornings. His eyes barely left the sky.
So, it was completely understandable that he hadn't noticed the female practicing her throwing. He should have been more aware of his surroundings, but the sky was alive.
Thwak. The noise caused the male delinquent to jump back. His feet betraying him as he stumbled and crashed to the dew-soaked jungle floor. His fingers griped the shaft of the pike tightly as he remained firmly planted on the jungle ground. His eye darting around for some visual source of the noise. The female had been blocked by a pack of trees with much thick brush preventing him from making visual contact with her.
"Who's there?"
He called out to the wild, as he eased to his feet. His voice stronger than he expected it would be, which might have been a major plus... depending on what or who the culprit behind scaring him.

Rylee heard a thud as she assumed the boy who was walking towards her fell. She laughed quietly as she walked to the tree and pulled her knife out again. Walking into the brush, she followed the sounds of her fellow delinquent and found him standing as if he had just fallen...which she knew he had. She smirked. "You know...you're not supposed to be out here alone..." She felt her smirk grow because she too was out here alone. "You never know when someone might try to attack you.." She twirled her knife between her fingers eying him.
She laughed again as she made her way back towards her tree. "What brings you out here so early? Usually it's just me...." She said eying the target and throwing her knife again, hearing it woosh through the air and hit it's target. She turned to face the boy awaiting his response as she went and grabbed her knife again. She could not be more in love with the nature around her. There was nothing like this on the Ark....and as scary as beyond the gate is, she enjoyed nothing more than being out and free from rules and punishment.
Walking back to her mark, she kicked a rock out of the way and looked at the boy again. She had seen him around. He intrigued her...dark eyes, tall....brooding.....Similar to her, just she was a girl..and much shorter. She smiled to herself as she threw the knife again, waiting so see if he would talk to her.

His entire body eased at the sight of the female delinquents. The increased thumping of his heart gradually decreased as the potential threat was no more than a friendly face. Atom could dropped the pike weapon before taking a few steps closer to her. The light from the morning sun casting disorienting shadows through the canopy. Her voice had been laced with trace amounts of teasing as she informed him of not being alone. Clearly, she hadn’t heeded her own warnings, so Atom was sure she wouldn’t run back to anyone. Another relief for the male.
"Guess we both missed the memo about the threat of being alone…”
His eyes watched her toy with the knife as though it was some casual accessory. He had spent time training, yet something about the female before him caused the hairs along the back of his neck to raise. She seemed too at ease with the blade and the only people he knew to hold such careless precision were the serious offender-type of delinquents. The ones that had tried killing another Arker for sneezing the wrong way or laughing just an octave too loud. He nervously laughed with her.
"The sky.”
He pointed up towards the blazing glory of the early morning sky, yet his eyes remained trained on the female. She took her place before rearing back and letting the blade somersault through the air before another aggressive thud came from the blade making contact. Throwing knives? The hell was up with her?
He bent and retrieved the pike before circling around her. His knuckles white from the pressure of gripping the handle of his own weapon tightly.
"I’ve never thought about actually doing training outside of the practice grounds.”
He added cooly as he finally made his way out of her immediate throwing range.

Rylee smiled when he said he came out for the sky. She knew what it was like to want to see the morning sky. It was beautiful down here. Much more beautiful than she could have ever imagined. She turned her gaze to the boy who was clearly watching her. She read his expression and smirked. "Are you scared of me?" She asked giggling softly. She walked right up to the boy and looked up at him. He was far taller than her...much like most of the boys she had encountered. But her size was as much an advantage to her as theirs was to them.
She reached down and put her knife back into her boot. "I promise I am no threat to you.....I'm just well trained." She winked and wiped the dirt from her legs. "Though I could be a threat....if you ever became a problem." She smirked and then laughed again. She couldn't keep a straight face if she tried. She noticed he had his weapon in his hand. "You can put your weapon down...I'll warn you before I bite." She smirked again and walked towards the tree she had been targeting and ran her fingers over the marks. She had hit the middle target almost every time. Her father would have been proud.
Rylee turned her body and leaned against the tree watching the boy. "I'm Rylee....I've seen you around. Never took you as one to be scared of a little girl like me." She smiled softly and crossed her arms over her chest as the cool morning breeze blew through the trees. She had seen this boy with the others...Bellamy...and his crew. He should be well trained..not scared of Rylee. But if he was nervous around her, she could have some fun with him for sure.

Atom kept his gaze on her movements. She was fluid with her motions, yet there was some heaviness to her stride… Maybe not so much heavy, but determined. He concluded that she was sure-footed, so she didn’t need to pay much mind where her footfalls landed. A trait that Atom hadn’t learned yet. He lumbered through the underbrush in a graceless procession. He hated to admit, but it was something he both admired and envied about the female before him. His hesitation around her was a direct reflection of his unease at being on the ground. His mind immediately judged the girl before him because that’s how he felt he could survive on Earth.
She invaded his space in a matter of moments. The distance between them closed and her eyes were staring up at him. Did she scare him… He couldn’t really say if she did scare him, so he shrugged. It was a tense and awkward shrug.
"Can’t be to sure nowadays."
His eyes held their focus on the girl before him. Even as she spoke as casually about being a real threat to him. The conversation made him feel a chill of unease. His face held fast though as to not give away the hint of his discomfort. The girl probably got off on the idea of making people squirm and that was enough to keep Atom’s lips pursued in a unflinching line.
"Thanks for the… warning."
He let the last word linger on his tongue before letting it out. He wasn’t sure if she’d take that as some back and forth light banter. He legitimately was glad she warned him because now he knew to watch what he said around her.
"Little girls shouldn’t be taken lightly. Especially those with a skill like your’s.."
He returned the smile. It was forced, but felt as close to natural as his normal smile.
"I’m Atom."
He added before twirling the shaft around his hand before driving the bladed end deep into the ground.
"Now, Rylee. Where’d you learn to throw like that?."
His voice turned from casual to matter of fact as he questioned her. She hadn’t learned that from anyone from the Dropship.

We are the RECKLESS, We are the wild YOUTH tag: @atom // notes: | Rylee laughed kind heartedly when he thanked her for the warning. "I promise, I won't hurt you" She turned to look at him, keeping her eyes on his to prove her point. "There are far worse enemies on the Ground." She felt a shiver go up her spine at the thought. There were so many things that they could have never prepared for when the Ark sent the delinquents to their deaths. It was far worse than anyone could have imagined.
When he complimented her size, she smiled. "You're one of the first to actually speak positively of my size..most of the guys just shrug it off..." As he said his name, she smiled. "Atom....I like you already" She smirked as he put down his weapon, digging it into the ground. He was strong...she could tell. Seeing him give her a smile, she smiled again. Maybe he would actually relax around her now that he knew she wouldn't actually hurt him. Rylee could never imagine hurting someone. She was too kind hearted deep down...she just liked to scare people initially...just so she wouldn't be taken advantage of. It almost always worked...
As Atom asked where she learned to throw like that, she looked up at him. Looking up was something she often had to do down here, what with all the boys being huge. "My dad always had a feeling something like this could happen to the Ark. He would never say it directly, but he knew that if I was going to survive, I would need to learn how. He started training me from a young age with anything he could find in the house. I would throw a sharpened pencil if it would help with my accuracy, anything worth using that wasn't wasteful was used. And he trained me for strength and agility the moment I got home from school. It became fun for me and as the years went on, I got better. So when I got caught and locked up in the SkyBox, I just continued my training on my own in my cell. There was nothing better to do. I couldn't throw anything like knives, but I could get stronger...so" She she smirked. "I did..." She bit her lip and raised her eye brows "And look where we are now...on the Ground...." She shrugged. "At this rate we all have a better chance of surviving down here than we do up there."
