Great, she would have to be one of the first to be trained. She was so not looking forward to it, then again it would help her to stay alive. It meant she could go out and help others while being in just a little less danger. Who else would need to be outside frequently? That person would need to be trained as well. For now the idea was good, though. They could figure details out later.
“I don’t know.” It was honest. Clarke looked at the flowers again. Maybe she should continue her work. She didn’t know whom to appoint as her second. Her most obvious choice was dead. Finn, maybe? Monty? Jasper? They were all good. “Monty or Finn?” It was a question, because she wanted to hear what he thought. He seemed to have more knowledge about stuff like that than she had. She wanted to hear what he thought.

whatever THE HELL WE WANT She admitted that she didn't know, and suggested a couple of names. Bellamy didn't know either Monty or Finn incredibly well. Though he did butt heads a bit more with one compared to the other. That didn't play into who he thought was a better choice though. He had to be logical here. Monty wasn't useless, but his skills were better placed elsewhere -- from what Bellamy had seen anyway.
"Finn came with you to protect Charlotte," he pointed out, speaking the girl's name causing him to pause for a brief moment as he pushed aside his emotions that arose when thinking of her. "I think he's got potential. And you clearly trust him." That was what it came down to . . . trust. Which was something that Bellamy didn't exactly have for the man. But he supposed it was the same with Miller, because Clarke didn't know him as Bellamy did. "But you gotta talk to him first. He needs to learn who's in charge, and accept it." Finn wasn't exactly warming up to Bellamy's charge, but perhaps that would change if he knew that Clarke was in charge with him.

Finn it was then. His point was a good point. He had already assumed the position a bit before it all started, he was kind of the person supporting her, so he was a logical idea. Finn it was then. And he would be good at it, she had no doubt about that. She could trust him, right? But what if she was wrong? Blinded and wrong? What if he was… secretly an ass? Did it even matter?
“You’ll talk with your mouth, right? Not with your hands, please. I have no desire to clean either of you up because you didn’t see eye to eye.” Those were injuries that were and should remain avoidable. The Grounders would probably do enough damage as it was. Finally she really turned to pick up the next plant and dig a hole. “Everyone needs to learn that. In the beginning we have to expect hiccups and problems. We won’t be able to just make a good society appear out of thing air.”

whatever THE HELL WE WANT She asked if him he would talk with his hands rather than his mouth and he refrained from rolling his eyes. Not at her words, but at Finn and the way he tended to provoke him. He also knew that he would have to agree to it if this partnership with Clarke was going to work. "As long as he checks himself, then I won't have to use my fists." His way of agreeing to her words. She added on that everyone would need to learn, that problems were expected and that it would take time to build a society.
"We got rid of one big problem at least." Murphy. Who was a wild card and this proved it . . . though Bellamy had thought he would have made a good second. Idiot proved him wrong for the brief time Bellamy had backed him up. "Don't know what the hell the Ark thought when sending us down here." Bellamy wasn't meant to be down here, but at the same time, what did they think was going to happen? "It'll work." He was confident in that. He had to be. Showing otherwise would appear weak and no one would follow a leader who was not confident. His eyes went to her again, realizing that he should correct his statement, or at least elaborate a little. "We'll make it work." Another word that revealed his willingness and acknowledgment that they were now a team. And he hoped to hell he didn't regret it.

“That is right.” Murphy would have tried a mutiny sooner or later. They were safer this way, it was safer for all of them if their leadership was intact and dealing with the real problems, namely the Grounders, food, winter. Those were problems they should focus on, not one little greasy piece of shit fucking everything up for them. Clarke was glad, though, that they were free of it now and working together. Glad until he spoke of what the Ark thought. Clarke knew it. She knew about the problems and the rest just fell right into place.
“They were desperate. Still are.” She kept busy with her plants. “We would have been those they floated once come off age. We would have died either way. With the Ark dying, we were the perfect choice to send here. We’d have been killed either way, so to send us down here as guinea pigs was the better choice. The survival after being guinea pigs, well that has not properly been thought through, but, as you said, we will make it work.”

whatever THE HELL WE WANT He listened attentively as she spoke of how they were desperate; of how they all would have been floated. She was right. They were just waiting until they all turned 18 so they continued to follow the laws. It was why Bellamy was so desperate to come down here, for Octavia. He had tried so many times to convince the authorities to float him and free his sister but it hadn't worked. The second born wre the ones who suffered. Little did Clarke know just how much chaos there most probably was on the Ark with Jaha dead.
"Yeah. They can come down when all the work is done." When they tested the terrain, built defenses . . . assured it was survivable. At the expense of their own people. Bellamy felt far more protective over those that were here, compared to those on the Ark. So naturally, he didn't give a shit what happened to the people still orbiting in space. He was more focused on those down here. But he also supposed that it was because he didn't have parents or family up on the Ark. Unlike many of the others, including the woman he was currently sitting with.
"Is it worth trying to get to Mount Weather again?" He asked. It was going to have to be done by going through Grounder territory but they could prepare themselves. He wanted to know if it was worth it. The first time she had tried to explain herself, he had shut her down and sent her off to get food for them. This time, he was willing to hear her out about what she thought of the place that was said to have resources and supplies that they could use . . . or perhaps even proper shelter.

He was right. They had them do the work, but they were criminals, at least according to the Ark up there. That was something else they needed to address sooner or later: What would happen now? About the crimes they committed? Were they automatically pardoned for their own society? Clarke felt like it should be the case. Octavia for example, well her crime was living, she should be treated as someone who was not a criminal. She didn’t deserve it. “They don’t have much time.” By the time they ran out of life support their society down here would not be finished, far from it.
“I think it might be worth a shot. If it really holds supplies, they might be very valuable to us. We can’t be sure what is left, though.” Maybe they should stabilize what they had first. Maybe they should give themselves a base to work off on first. But what if that was the best way of getting to supplies to last bad weather and circumstances. “Is it worth the risk? There could be food, medicinal supplies, weapons, blankets. I think it could be worth it. What do you think?”

whatever THE HELL WE WANT Bellamy had almost said 'good' when she spoke of how the Arkers didn't have much time, but he managed to stop himself. She clearly cared about the people up there, her mother. As far as Bellamy was concerned, they had sent them down here to die and he owed them no loyalty. The second they came, it would be game over and he wouldn't be able to stick around to find out how things went under their rule. Despite the Ark's assurance that they were pardoned, Bellamy's crime would not be. At least the topic of Mount Weather caused them to focus on something else, and he listened attentively as she said that it could be worth the shot.
He supposed it was all fairly hypothetical . . . if they had the supplies. If there was anything left. At the same time, perhaps it would be worth it. They were here to stay, and they had to make the best of it. Her repsonse finished by asking him what he thought, finding it already a show of faith that she seemed to continue to be putting value in his opinion and thoughts. But it was also yet another thing he was not going to so readily admit to her. "I think so too," he agreed pensively. "But not right away. It'll be something to work towards. We need to know the terrain better. And we gotta find out more about these damn Grounders. If getting to Mount Weather means entering their territory, we have to make sure we're prepared." Equipped with weapons. Whatever stupid daggers and axes they had. Guns would be far more efficient. But that was wishful thinking. "God knows what else is out there," he added on as an afterthought, thinking aloud. He wasn't naive enough to believe that it was only Grounders that lurked in these woods.

So they agreed on it. It would be, could be worth the risk, if they were prepared for it. Preparation was everything. Last time they really just winged it. It almost god one of them killed. They could not go back unprepared, he was absolutely right. They needed a strategy, maybe places they knew to run to in order to escape, ways of anticipating the grounders moves, but maybe, maybe they did not need to fight them. Maybe with looking around they could make the grounders understand that they had no intention of harming them. They just wanted to live, like them, in peace, right?
“We need weapons. They have some form of long distance weapons however primitive. We need weapons, too.” And an idea of how to properly handle them. As he mentioned it, Clarke remembered something. “Two faced deers. We saw some on our way to Mount Weather the first time. And then… I found a skull, no human skull, more primate. A bit like an overgrown orangutan or something. Maybe that might be another threat.”

whatever THE HELL WE WANT She was right indeed. They did need weapons. They would have to deal with what they had. She further explained that they had long distance ones, and considering the only gun they had -- one that he had only managed to get for the assassination of Jaha -- was out of bullets, they too would have to resort to primitive weapons. "We can make some spears," he suggested. "We gotta learn how to fight long distance too. We're not going to always have the opportunity to get close enough to grounders to kill them." They needed to practice their aim, and throwing weapons with adequate force to strike their opponent down. Damn it he wished they had guns. Clarke then offered valuable, and intriguing, information. One regarding a two faced deer -- which was good to know.
At least it meant there were still animals to hunt in these woods and that the Grounders haven't gotten to everything. But she also mentioned a skull which was a tad bit more alarming. "Son of a bitch," he cursed. "That's all we need. A giant monkey swinging around." It sounded ridiculous, but no less so than a Grounder or two headed deer. "We gotta organize a hunting party soon. That meat we caught isn't going to last much longer." And a two headed deer sounded like pretty good game right about now. "What else did you see?" He wondered, trying to figure out what other sort of things they could knowingly prepare for.

“Bow and arrow.” It was the first way of long distance fighting that really came to her mind. They had heard about that in their lessons on the ark. Maybe they could make a few basic ones. The stronger ones could certainly learn how to throw a spear properly. And then there could be blowtubes, but they had no ammo for that, no idea yet how to even fill blowtubes. The Grounders had the advantage and would have it for a while, logically looked at.
“We should look into plants as well.” She said. Not everything could be poisoned, but some plants almost suggested it. They had to find out how to find out what was edible and what not. “Some plants, some parts of the woods are bioluminescent. They glow in the dark. I don’t know why. I remember some plants and animals produced light to attract prey, so it could be dangerous or not. We can’t know for sure until we test it.” Which was a long shot. She needed to find a way to determine the potential of poison in a plant without endangering someone. Actually.

whatever THE HELL WE WANT Clarke suggested bow and arrows, and he gave a small nod. They would need to get durable supplies for that. It was so damn frustrating. The Ark sent them down defenseless, assuming that there was no threat which just further proved how idiotic the people in charge were. Who the hell was on that research team anyway? "We'll start collecting supplies to make this stuff tomorrow." Whatever they could find. They would need to start making weapons as soon as possible, since they would need it to also train. She then suggested plants, and that they glow in the dark. Of course they did.
They were in a place with giant monkeys and crazy killers . . . why wouldn't there be glow in the dark plants? She asked for his knife and he hesitated in giving it to her, as he just looked at her. After a few moments he reached into his pocket and held it out to her, the handle of it faced toward her. He supposed he would have to start somewhat trusting her if this was going to work. Besides, he had another blade on him. "Monty and Jasper know plants." They had been in a less legal business of it, but still. They could use that knowledge. "Get them to collect samples and do some research on it." Monty may not be a good choice for a second, but the kid had a brain in him. Everyone had their own skills to contribute here, and Bellamy needed to start recognizing that if they were all going to work as a cohesive unit.

For a split second Clarke was convinced he would not give her the knife, but he surprised her. She just hoped that he would not flip out when she did what she had in mind. He might. He seemed to be the kind of person to do so. At least to potentially make his protest heard. Clarke got up. She cut a mushroom, making sure to only touch it with her gloved hand and carried it over. Time to test something. Jasper and Monty in all honor, but people might need to get out and get stuck outside. They might need to know about what plant could potentially be without poison.
“Yes, good plan, but for now…” Clarke cleaned the knife on the outside of her shirt, running a bit of water over it as well, to just make sure it was clean enough. Then she pulled out the little improvised plate she used to dig out the ivies. Clarke broke off a bit of Ivy as well. She squeezes juice of both plants separately onto the plate, then she used Bellamys knife to cut her finger. She dripped blood onto both juices. Just seconds later the juice of the mushroom and her blood reacted, creating clumps. “Ha!”

whatever THE HELL WE WANT Bellamy had no idea what Clarke was going to do with the knife. He figured it was related to her planting and what not, but then she went and cut a mushroom, before cleaning off the knife. He watched her curiously. Was she going to eat that thing? Or that plant? "You're not gonna eat that, are you?" He said, his voice making it obvious as to why that was a dumb thing to do. But she then suddenly cut her finger and put it in the mixed liquids, seeming rather satisfied with the reaction.
Bellamy's strong suit wasn't medicine, or . . . whatever the hell it was she was doing. He assumed it was medical related. With her mother being the doctor on the Ark, everyone expected her to have some sort of training in that. All the more reason she was useful. "Alright, what the hell are you doing?" He finally conceded, unable to refrain from asking as his curiosity now got the better of him. She was cutting plants, mixing the juices, and slicing her finger . . . yeah. Bellamy wanted to know what was going on in her head.

“Eat? God no!” Why should she eat something she didn’t know was edible? She was testing it. She… oh, he didn’t know what she was doing. She guessed he would have to trust her now. She wasn’t hurting him either way, nor any of their people. They should be fine. She just went on about her selfappointed task. She turned to him with the plate, handing it to him carefully, quite satisfied that it worked.
“There are different kinds of poison, with different effect on the body. Now I don’t know about all types of poison, but some can be easily tested, even when you’re stuck outside with no food. This one for example.” She pointed to the mushroom juice. “In contact with my blood it’s creating those clumps. Eating the mushroom or getting quantities of the juice into a wound will most likely kill you. While Ivy at least has no poison of that type. Even if it doesn’t cover all, in doubt it could save lives out there.”
