Indra had met death before, back on that field when Skaikru gunned down her army and left her bleeding on the ground and around a dozen times before then too. But being put on that cross had been different, there was a difference between dying with a sword in your hand and being strung up to die unarmed, bleeding... As some sort of warning to others to stay in their place. There was no honour in that death and yet it was the first time that Indra had felt certain of her death. She'd even hoped for it at some point, yet she'd been cut down before she'd had the chance to succumb to her injuries.
Her wounds had been treated, cleaned and bandaged to reduce the risk of infection and she supposed she was grateful that she would live to fight another day... If she was even capable of returning to that life. It was likely that with the injuries that she'd received from a Skaikru bullet and now from those under ALIE's control, that she'd never be the warrior that she once was. No longer in her prime, if she was a horse she'd be sent to slaughter. She felt weaker than she had in her whole life lying there among the sounds of the dying, wondering if surviving this ordeal had been some sort of punishment and not the miracle many viewed it as.
It was while she was lying there amongst the dead and dying that a familiar voice, a voice that she hadn't heard in what felt like a lifetime. The voice came from a man she'd once cared for, she'd been his mentor once... But that had been a long time ago, he'd severed whatever bond they'd had when he decided to betray their Heda, rebelling against Lexa after what had transpired at Mount Weather. By betraying Lexa, he'd betrayed her- whether he meant to or not and Indra had vowed to kill him if he ever showed his face to her again.
It took every ounce of strength that she had to sit up and face him, even in her current condition she wouldn't give him the satisfaction of seeing her like that. She wouldn't allow him to see how weak and broken she felt. "How dare you show your face here" she hissed through gritted teeth, the words left a bitter taste in her mouth and she yearned to get to her feet, her strength restored to her. She was simply too weak for such a feat.
"You should leave before I recover the ability to hold a sword" she warned, an obvious threat and one she intended to follow through with if the man didn't have the sense to leave within the time it took for her to recover. Though she'd never admit it, his betrayal had hurt her- it had cut deeper than any blade ever could and she'd make sure he paid for making her look like a fool in front of their people- making her place her trust in him only to throw it back in her face.

Time had been hard to keep track of since moving to the bunker, without the sun and moon to act as a guide, it was nearly impossible to be sure. Indra had lost track after a day, one single day and it had been a month- or, she thought it must've been a month. At least. Every hour of every day, everything looked the same beneath ground. There had been an adjustment period to living beneath the ground, she and the rest of her people were used to living amongst the trees, with a bountiful supply of fresh air and fresh food, above ground they had relative freedom. In the bunker it was different, her people had to share the already limited space with their oldest, greatest enemy.
Trikru and Azgeda had been at war for many years, years longer than any conflict that she could remember and now they were expected to live together as Wonkru and forget about those conflicts. Wonkru or not, Indra's priority would always be towards her people and Azgeda were not her people. She didn't believe they'd ever be truly loyal to Octavia or Wonkru, after all- Nia had never been interested in joining the coalition when Lexa was Heda. Queen Nia only aimed to serve herself, she always had a motive and the fact that Indra had noticed her sniffing around their new commander had only set alarm bells off in her head.
Indra knew that she couldn't allow Octavia to fall into the trap of trusting Nia, those that trusted the ice queen often grew to regret it- if she allowed them to live long enough to do so. Indra knew she'd be a fool to underestimate Nia, or the threat she posed to Octavia and the rest of Wonkru- if it had been up to her, none of Azgeda would've been permitted to enter the bunker, as it happened... It wasn't up to her.
Walking down the hall, her gaze flickered to movement up ahead- locking onto the figure that had just rounded the corner ahead. Speak of the devil and they shall appear in front of you. Hand subconsciously drifting to rest upon the hilt of her sword. As the pair approached each other, Indra slowed to a complete stop, unable to keep her dislike for the other woman off of her face "Nia" she spoke as if in greeting but her tone was cold, hostile and unwelcoming.

.:Birthplace:. Earth, Tondc .:Family:. Father (deceased), Mother (deceased), Gaia (daughter, alive) .:Occupation:. Chief of Tondc .:History:. Indra was born in the village of Tondc on Earth, her father died an honourable death in battle before she'd even learned to walk and her mother was harsh in her ways and more of a mentor than a mother most days. From the moment she could walk, she was being taught how to use a sword- it was always apparent that she would one day be a formidable warrior, she never had another option. Indra embraced the lifestyle that she'd been born into and as a child, she craved the approval and praise of her mother, working for validation that would never come.
Then one day, when she was still a child, the chief of her village took an interest in her. They said that she displayed great promise and had the makings of a true warrior- they wanted to take her as their second. That was the first time Indra had seen her mother look at her with even a hint of pride upon her face. Denying such an honour wasn't even an option. With such a skilled, high ranking mentor to teach her, Indra continued to excel in her training. She was trained to be the best, nothing less was expected of her as the chief's second. It took many years for her to hone her skills to a level that her mentor was satisfied with and by that time she was already on the verge of adulthood. She fought in many battles in her time as a second, taking many lives in the process and she was proud of each mark she acquired on her body, each symbolising a life she took in battle. She began to gain a reputation, people began to know her as the fierce warrior her mother had always wanted her to become.
One day when Indra was still just a young warrior, she was expected to go into battle and she went gladly- because it was what was expected of her and because she had a duty to protect and fight with her people. It was in this battle that her mentor was mortally wounded, they were outnumbered and she failed to reach her in time to prevent her injury, it was also in this battle that Indra acquired her most prominent facial scar. After the death of their chief, Indra was appointed chief in place of her lost mentor- a position that she'd earned and no doubt deserved but the achievement felt somewhat hollow in the shadow of their loss.
Sometime after becoming chief of Tondc, a young man around her age caught Indra's eye. He was a warrior too, not as respected nor as high ranking as she was but he was handsome and he showed her kindness whilst still being respectful of the fact that she outranked him. She didn't expect to fall for him, especially not so soon after becoming the chief of her village, but things rarely went according to how you planned them. She took him as her husband and allowed herself to be happy with him, her happiness only growing when she found out that she would be having his child. A baby girl grew their family, they named her Gaia and they adored her. Happiness is not a thing meant to last though and in a world ravaged by war, it was inevitable that they'd be called away to battle eventually. So both of them went into battle for the first time since the birth of their daughter, they were confident of victory, neither thought that they'd return home without the other. Little did they know that that's exactly what would happen...
Indra went into battle and something happened that had never happened to her before, she was locked in battle with an opponent who was just as skilled as she was and for once her mind was elsewhere as she fought, it kept wandering back to her daughter. Then before she knew what was happening, she was on the ground having been tripped and disarmed of her weapon, she was staring up at the warrior who'd surely end her life and she froze. She thought of Gaia and about how she was going to grow up without a mother and she froze. Just when she thought her life would be brought to a swift and brutal end, the man she loved dived in front of her and became locked in a battle to the death with her former opponent. That was all Indra needed to jolt her back into the present and she scrambled to retrieve her sword- by the time she'd regained her feet, she was too late. She watched as her lover was ran through with a sword and his dead body crumpled to the ground. She avenged his death, but the damage had been done- she was to blame for his death, that's how she saw it. Because she was more than capable of fighting that warrior, but her mind was not on the surrounding battle, but on her infant.
She'd known that motherhood would change the way that she looked at things, but she'd never imagined that it would affect her ability to serve as a warrior. Returning to Tondc, she vowed to never let motherhood weaken her again, she wouldn't grow soft just because she had a child. As the years passed, she raised her daughter in much the same way that she was raised, determined to make her into a warrior that Trikru could be proud of, to give her the skills that she needed to defend herself. However, Gaia was never invested in becoming a warrior like her mother, she rejected Indra's teachings and instead decided to dedicate her life to religion and scouting for nightbloods instead of being the leader of their people Indra wanted her to be. This angered Indra, she felt ashamed that her daughter would choose a different path than the one she'd set out for her, she felt like Gaia had somehow betrayed her and all that she'd built for her. The two lost contact with each other when Gaia left to dedicate her life to serving the flame.
