.:Name:. Abigail Griffin
.:Nickname:. Abby, Dr. Griffin, Mom
.:Affiliation:. The Ark
.:Age:. 46
| ~ • ~ | Appearance | ~ • ~ |
.:Physical Appearance:. Abby is small, but her fiery personality more than compensates for her misleadingly meek size. Contrasting her tiny figure are her large brown eyes, highlighted by sharp cheekbones and framed by her thick brown hair, which is usually pulled back in a braid or ponytail for practicality's sake. Function has always held priority over fashion in her book, so her wardrobe consists mainly of older clothes in neutral colors, worn thin and faded from years of wear.
.:Height:. 5'4"
.:Portrayed by:. Paige Turco
| ~ • ~ | Personality | ~ • ~ |
.:Personality:. A firm believer in the importance of hope and the fortitude of humanity, Abby strives to cling to her morals no matter the cost to her own well-being. She'll stop at nothing to do what she believes is right, but she struggles to accept hard facts and tends to rely too heavily on her volatile emotions. The doctor's feisty personality, combined with her persistence and willfulness, drives her to speak out against authority, and she has no problem defying the law to protect the innocent. Abby is optimistic, idealistic, and extremely protective of her loved ones, especially her daughter Clarke. Perhaps her greatest flaw is that she cares too much and relies too heavily on her emotions.
.:Special Skills:. She's a competent doctor and excels at tending to wounds, nursing the sick, and generally caring for injured and ill patients. She's smart and quick with her tongue. Abby is capable of researching medicine, acting as a councilor or even chancellor, and acting reasonably during chaos.

.:Birthplace:. The Ark
.:Family:. Clarke Griffin - daughter | Jake Griffin - late husband
.:Occupation:. Council member on the Ark (Chief of Medical) | Senior medical officer
.:History:. Abby was born on the Ark in Alpha Station and grew up under the strict rules and regulations put in place to limit the population. However, she was raised to believe in humanity, and adhere to her own moral code rather than the cold laws of the Ark. She was trained as a doctor in the Go-Sci Station in the Ring and eventually became the Ark's senior medical officer, then went on to marry senior environmental engineer Jake Griffin and have a daughter, Clarke.
Both Abby and Jake served on the Council until Jake discovered a flaw in the Ark's life support systems. He wanted to reveal critical information to the public, but the Council wanted to keep the issue quiet, and Abby knew that he'd be executed if he went through with the plan. She tried to convince him to stay silent, and even asked Chancellor Thelonious Jaha to talk him out of it, but her plan backfired and Jake was arrested and floated, while their daughter was also arrested.
Abby worked through her grief by becoming more active in the Council. She struggled to atone for Jake's death by becoming more active in politics and her career, taking on Eric Jackson as an intern and butting heads with Marcus Kane's insensitive policies more and more. When her daughter's life was spared when she was sent to Earth as part of the 100 mission, Abby went out of her way to ensure her safety, going against Ark policy once more to send mechanic Raven Reyes to the ground.
On the ground, Abby was forced into the role of a leader, acting as Chancellor and helping to lead Skaikru alongside Kane. She stood by her daughter even when it was inconvenient for her people, and remained completely loyal to her morals despite the very real threat of war with the Grounders.
