.:Name:. Carl Emerson .:Nick Name:. Emerson .:Affiliation:. Mount Weather .:Age:. 32
| ~ • ~ | Appearance | ~ • ~ |
.:Physical Appearance:. Emerson has sandy brown, almost red hair that is cut short and grey blue eyes. His face is covered with very faint freckles, hardly visible and showing the fact that Emerson couldn't spend time outside for the vast majority of his life. He stands tall at 178cm and has a muscular build due to his work as a guard in Mount Weather's security detail.
.:Height:. 5'10" (178cm) .:Portrayed by:. Toby Levins

.:Personality:. First and foremost, Emerson is loyal. He is loyal to Mount Weather, to his leaders, and he is completely loyal to those he is close to. Everything Emerson does stems from that loyalty, including a strong need to protect the people around him. His loyalty is unwavering, willing to do everything and anything to protect the people of Mount Weather. He follows his orders without much question and will go to extreme lengths in his job as a guard. This loyalty presents Emerson to be quite cold and callus. He cares for those around him, for his people, but holds no compassion towards people other than that. If it is to protect his people, Emerson will kill and torture. He has no worry over innocent people being hurt in what he does, as long as they aren't people he cares for.
This makes Emerson to be almost selfish. Everything he does stems out of who he cares about, what he feels and he puts little thought into the good of what he does and the thoughts and feelings of others. He has quite a strong line drawn between those he cares about and those he couldn't care less about. That line dictates all he does. When it comes to him failing to protect those he does care about, Emerson is not one to move on. While his reactions to loss can cause good actions in himself, like happened through the loss of his wife, Emerson is not someone above the idea of revenge. His emotions are strong and in the right circumstances, like the irradiation of Mount Weather, he will completely dedicate himself to revenge as he dedicated himself to protecting those that he lost. .:Special Skills:. Combat - particularly gun use; Ground Unit - has been trained to go outside MW using a hazmat suit

.:Birthplace:. Mount Weather .:Family:. Wife (died a few years prior to show). 2 sons and brother (died during the irradiation of Mount Weather) .:Occupation:. Lieutenant in Mount Weather Guard/Security Detail
.:History:. Carl Emerson was born in Mount Weather into an average family. He grew up in a generally loving home, never having any large issues with his parents or his younger brother. Although he did often find the need to protect his brother even when that wasn't particularly needed. It was that spirit and want to protect those he loved that helped lead him into the occupation of becoming a guard, as well as the fact that his father had also been one.
During the years of his training and his early years in the guard, Emerson showed a dedication as well as a natural skill set that made him extremely good at his job. This led to him eventually being promoted to Lieutenant and taking up a lot of responsibilities in his job. He even got given the chance to train specifically for the Ground Unit and took up this opportunity with a completely interest in getting the chance to go outside and see what it was really like. At the same time as he was excelling at his job, Emerson married and became father to two beautiful sons, Michael and Vincent. His life looked quite picture perfect, as much as a life could be in Mount Weather. He had family, a job he loved and even got to experience the world outside Mount Weather - as much as anyone could in a hazmat suit.
The first time Emerson experienced real grief was with the passing of his wife from disease. This hit him hard, leaving him with what felt like a hole in his heart that he couldn't fill. There was nothing he could do and he put the emotion he felt from the loss into his family. He stepped up in looking after his sons and strengthened more his relationship with his younger brother, having him step in and become an uncle to the boys. When he managed that, when he managed to moved on to a degree, Emerson felt like he had mastered how to deal with grief. If only.
The appearance of the teenagers from space was a game changer for Mount Weather and Emerson played a big part in it. He was part of the team that brought them all into the Mountain, being in the Ground Unit, and carried multiple children from their camp to Mount Weather in the multiple trips the unit took to collect them all. His work load increased, watching and playing a part in all that happened. Attempting assassination of Clarke, pressing the button to bomb TonDC, being the main communication between Cage and the guard in the attempts to take control back of the situation with the kids when things got bad. In the whole thing, Emerson watched many people die but it never affected him more than when the lever was pulled and level 5 of Mount Weather was filled with radiation. That killed everyone he cared about. His brother, his kids, his parents. Emerson was left a lone survivor of the Mountain.
Emerson survived out in the wilderness and eventually came across Ice Nation territory. He gained rapport with their Queen, Nia, and started in his plans for revenge. Revenge for those who were killed. He gave the self-destruct code away, causing the destruction of Mount Weather, feeling proud over his achievement, wanting to kill as many as he could so that Clarke would know exactly how he felt. This same want came in when he was spared his life by her in Polis, no plans but to let her regret the decision not to kill him. He would take her down and he would take down everyone she cared about while he did so.
