whatever THE HELL WE WANT Bellamy had sworn to keep a secret for the entirety of his life. He had learned at a fairly young age that Marcus Kane was his father. His and Octavia's father. It had not affected him though. He had thought of how it could have helped Octavia to have someone with such a high ranking position in her life; someone who could help them. But it had been a risk. One that would have endangered them all, including Marcus. Still, he always wondered about it. It wasn't until Octavia was discovered and his mother floated that Bellamy could stay silent no more. He needed Marcus' help. He had never seen him as a father, because aprt from Marcus conceiving Bellamy, the man had not played an active role in either of their lives.
Bellamy couldn't entirely blame him; he had no idea that he had two children. But the Vice Chancellor was about to find out about that.Bellamy made his way through the security and higher security areas for this was where the high ranking officials were. He needed to speak to Marcus Kane; he needed him to know that he would do something about this and prevent Octavia from getting floated. Bellamy made his way through with enough ease, knowing that his time was very limited before he could get spotted. He had stolen a guard's uniform to help him blend in. It had taken a bit of research, but he had found out the exact apartment number. Once outside his door, Bellamy knocked frantically, purposely, making it sound like it was an emergency. Which, technically it was, and Kane was about to discover the true extent of it.

The knocking on his door had interrupted the moment between him and Callie but in his life this was expected. Marcus was barefoot as he pulled on a shirt while moving toward the door with all speed. Pulling it open it saw the guard and opened this mouth to speak--before shutting it. Not a guard. A Blake. Normally he would have said 'the Blake' but in this case there was more then one. Recently they had floated Aurora Blake--and that had been hard on Marcus, for he had once loved her, perhaps apart of him would always love her. Now her son was standing before him.
That was unexpected. Marcus took note of his clothes and stepped forward to the hall, looking up and down it for signs of men coming to arrest him. There was only silence. Looking back at the boy, Marcus was pissed. He had come here. Why? Looking over him, he saw no weapons. Which meant he was NOT here to kill him. That was both comforting and disturbing. Stepping back, Marcus allowed him to enter--deciding that he rather not have to float her son as well (unless her said son was here to cause trouble).
Shutting the door, he spoke. "It seems that your commanding officer was right about you, Blake. You were quite the man of determination and resourcefulness. You'd have made Barnes proud had you joined the guard." It wasn't a compliment, but one spoken in an annoyed tone. Callie was still in the bedroom, and if this was going to turn into a fight, Marcus wanted her there and safe. "Are you aware that impersonating the guard is a capital crime?"

whatever THE HELL WE WANT Bellamy wasn't sure what sort of reaction he expected from Marcus. The man just stepped back and Bellamy entered -- though had intended to do that regardless of being granted entrance. Furthermore, Kane provided him with words that Bellamy wasn't sure whether they were meant to insult or flatter. Maybe neither. And the male Blake sibling didn't care. He wasn't here about that. He was here for his father. The first time he would ever ask him for anything. Upon his last question, Bellamy knew the easy answer.
"I wouldn't have come here if it wasn't important." He knew the risk. He knew that Marcus could just as easily arrest him and have him flotaed. "So if you're going to arrest me for this, wait until after I say what I have to." Which he was about to do, when he heard a sound coming from one of the rooms. His gaze went to it, though he didn't move his position. "Whoever it is, they aren't going to want to hear this." Whether it was a lover or a friend. This wasn't information Bellamy intended on telling anyone else. It wasn't even something he was intending on telling Marcus. But these were desperate times.

Marcus just stood there and watched him for a long moment, deciding what he would do. There was a button by the door that he could push and there would be guards here in moments, but instead when he did finally move it was toward the bedroom. There he pulled on his boots, and coat, while explaining to Callie that he had to do something for work and she needed to go home--but he manage to do it politely.
Once they were both dressed, he walked with her out of the room, and did his best to distract her from looking too closely at Bellamy--and without making is actions known. He was going to make sure the kid knew this was the last mistake he would make--then send him off to scrub someone's floor and be done with this. It was his mother's memory that he was breaking this rules for---and Marcus hated breaking rules. Once the door was shut behind Callie, an unashamed at his lifestyle Marcus Kane looked at the once former cadet. "I will give you 2 minutes before I have you arrested. I hope that whatever you have to say is worth the rick you took to get here."

whatever THE HELL WE WANT Two minutes to explain why this was worth the risk. Yeah. He could do that. Bellamy hardly looked at the woman as she left. He wasn't bitter, but he also didn't understand what happened in his and his mother's relationship that had caused them to part ways. Why he knew his mother didn't need him . . . having him in her life could have saved her. Could helped Octavia -- which was why he was here now. "I haven't asked you for anything my entire life," he began to say. He was well aware of the absurdity this statement could pose, considering Marcus did not know of their relation.
"But I'm asking for it now. Not for me, for Octavia Blake." He paused, knowing that Kane was well aware of his situation with Octavia. The fact that they had hid a sister for so long . . . a record, as he'd heard. They would have gotten away with it longer too had Bellamy not been so reckless. He took a deep breath, knowing it was pointless to waste time. And he was never one to beat around the bush. "Because she is your daughter." It didn't matter who he was to Kane, though he imagined that would come out too. He wasn't asking for Kane's help for himself . . . he was aking for his help for Octavia's sake. This wasn't about him, it was about her.

"I haven't asked you for anything my entire life," Was he now going to play off of his mother's former place in his life? What did that even mean? There was no reason to ask him for anything, he owed the boy nothing. "But I'm asking for it now. Not for me, for Octavia Blake." Nor did he owe the girl anything. He had done what he could for them in the name of their mother but this was getting old. "Because she is your daughter." This was . . . . a lie. It had to be.
Marcus could only stare at him for moment. How desperate he had to be to try this one. Mentally he counted backwards to the last night he had with Aurora. One where they'd crossed paths at a unity day thing, and had gotten caught up int he moment. How long ago was that? 16 years? 17? "I have no children, and making up such lies will only get you in more trouble. I have been lenient with you, and your family; when normally I would have made an example of you. Do not push me." 17 years. It had been 17 years? How old was the girl? 16? Marcus knew there was a chance. It made he waver, but he couldn't show it. Because Blake could have read his mother's journal or something, and make the connection. Aurora would not do that to him! She would not have lied to him for 16 years! She would have come to him and been honest. Hell! He had expected Bellamy to be his more then the girl! There was more chance of that! It made him look at the boy before him a bit closer. NO! He had no children--not a daughter, not a son!

whatever THE HELL WE WANT Marcus was in denial. Which, Bellamy knew he should expect. He had sworn not to say anything about who their father was, but he needed his pull and authority now. They were undoubtedly going to float Octavia, and Bellamy needed Marcus to do something about it. He didn't even care if the man knew he was Bellamy's father or not. All that mattered was that he convince him that he was Octavia's. Because that would hopefully give him that immediate responsibility. It was his last hope, and Bellamy wouldn't have done this if there was any other choice. There was no alternative.
"So you're telling me that seventeen years ago, you didn't have relations with Aurora Blake?" He had to bite down the emotion he felt when he spoke his mother's name, especially now when speaking in terms of a romantic relationship -- or whatever the hell they had. "It isn't a coincidence, and this isn't something you can just deny." What he did when -- or if -- he accepted it . . . well, that was an entirely different story. "My mother is already dead," he said out, once again, having to fight back the emotions. He lost his mother. She had been floated because of Bellamy's recklessness, and the words came out like stone as he was overcompensating by suppressing every ounce of emotion in them. "Don't let the same happen to your daughter." Because that was exactly what Octavia was to him, and surely a part of him realized that there could indeed be truth in this matter.

"So you're telling me that seventeen years ago, you didn't have relations with Aurora Blake?" He was not about to tell the son of Aurora Blake that 17 years ago he met up with his mother at an Unity Day event, lost control and took her against the very wall the kid was now standing near. Instead Marcus only stared him down and opted not to kiss and tell.
"It isn't a coincidence, and this isn't something you can just deny." No! It had to bed, because . . . because of reasons that he damn well didn't know but they had to be there! He wasn't a father! He wasn't a father to an illegal child! He wasn't! He knew it wasn't sound agreeing, but he damn well wasn't! A DNA test could be done by him without even needing to leave this room! Which was he was going to damn well do. "My mother is already dead," Marcus was all too aware of that. He had made sure the boy was floated but Blake was pushing his luck. "Don't let the same happen to your daughter." He didn't have one, and if he did then he would have damn well protected her better then hiding her in a room for 16 years!
Marcus took a deep breath, one that spoke at how annoyed he was, before walking away from Bellamy and reaching for his tablet. "Your accusations are easy enough to disprove." There he brought up Octavia Blake's files. One of the standard practices when finding an legal child was to always put them through s series of medical exams and see what no vacationists or little supplies had done to their bodies. Marcus was about to prove that Blake was lying and then find some suitable punishment for this how thing! However, the second he looked at her blood type he knew. It was a rare type.
Marcus' body language sifted--it was subtle but not so minimal that it wasn't noticeable. Before he had been stiff, formal and confidant. The moment he noticed the blood type he knew that Blake was telling him the truth, and he shock caused him to feel like he was floundering a bit. He had a daughter. He was a father. His hand moved to zoom in on the photo of her girl and he really looked at her. Not just at her file, but looked at her face. Good gosh she was beautiful. She was his daughter. He knew he needed to say something, or do something to regain control over this moment but he couldn't. "Why didn't she tell me?" He asked in a low voice, that held both regreat, and confussion, and loss, and anger; and somehow all at once.

whatever THE HELL WE WANT Easy to disprove Marcus said. Though Bellamy wasn't worried. Because he had the truth on his side. "Or prove," he countered. He silently watched Kane, allowing him to look up whatever he needed to. Mere words were not going to convince him. Bellamy could plant the seed but he couldn't make the tree grow. Not without the solid proof that Kane needed. Had Bellamy not been watching the man so intently, he wouldn't have noticed the ever so slight shift in demeanor.
Whatever he had looked up, whatever he had discovered and or realized . . . added that validity to his words. The ones that Marcus needed to hear. Bellamy continued to remain silent. Even though time was of the essence and not something they had the luxury of . . . he waited for things to process in Marcus' mind. The vice chancellor would be no good to him if he was going to remain in denial.
No. He needed to properly absorb these words. He then asked a question. Did he mean she Octavia or she Aurora? It didn't matter. "I'm telling you now," he stated. His mother had her reasons for not telling Marcus. Ones that Bellamy had promised not to get involved in. "The real question it . . . " Bellamy moved to take a couple steps toward Kane, but not standing too close to him. "What are you going to do about it?" Because whatever Kane did with this knowledge, it damn well better be something to help Octavia.

Marcus couldn't stop looking at her. She looked like her mother. He had a daughter. "I'm telling you now," One that was locked up until she was 18, but he could change what happened afterwards. The council would vote to float her, he knew that, but if he could sway the vote--speak in her favor, he could change things. It wouldn't hard, there was many who wanted favors owed by him and he could give them that. He wasn't sure about what might happen if this failed, but he wouldn't let it. Worst case he'd go to Jaha himself and ask for a pardon.
He would need to think about this before he acted on it. "The real question it . . . " Black walked closer to him, and Marcus finally looked up at him. "What are you going to do about it?" He didn't know. He needed to think, and Marcus wasn't a man of impulse. Right now he could only think about how Aurora had lied to him. "I'm not going to abandon her, if that is what your asking. I don't know anything more then that right now." He looked back down at the photo. "How long have you known she was my daughter?" Did Octavia know who her father was? He would find out soon enough because he would be going to see her shortly. What did one say to a teenage daughter?

whatever THE HELL WE WANT Bellamy felt a strong wave of relief wash over him when Marcus spoke of how he was not going to abandon her. There was no solution offered to the predicament, however there was some assurance that rested in Bellamy, a confidence, that made him believe Marcus' words. Everyone knew how strong and influential the vice Chancellor was. And it made Bellamy's chances to save his sister a lot better right now, knowing that he had the support of Marcus Kane. He then asked how long Bellamy had known. He knew this would not help his own situation with the man who helped create him . . . but this was about Octavia. And that was who Bellamy was asking Kane not to give up on; not to abandon.
"Since I was a child," he revealed, remaining stoic, trying not to let his emotions show. It had been damn hard, to keep it to himself. But not as hard as carrying the responsibility of a sibling. A secret, that cost so much. The responsibility thrust upon a young boy who had held the newborn in his arms for the first time. Terrified more than ever. And still that terror remained, that he would actually fail her this time. "You want someone to blame for this, blame me," he began to say, offering a potential solution that could help Octavia out of this.
"I'm a hell of a lot more guilty than she is. Keep to the laws of no siblings, but execute the one who is actually guilty. The one who hid her, and stole , and broke more than a dozen laws to protect her." He had no issue confessing this now, as all of this was already implied. "Don't blame the one who never had a choice. Octavia is innocent in all of this. She just lived, and that shouldn't be a crime." Some life. But all she did was breathe, and endure a world that had been forced upon her in the confines of their apartment. Bellamy was guilty, and if there could only be one Blake that came out of this alive, it made the most sense for it to be her.

Bellamy was giving a emotional speech for his sister's life but Marcus' logical brain was slowly coming back online. He was thinking of all the lies that he had been told by Aurora--every day being a new lie that she told by not telling him. When she died and still didn't tell him. When she took an officer to her bed rather then come to him for help. He was thinking of all these lies and wondered . . . when was the first one told?
He was going to have Bellamy floated, he was going to do his dampest to keep them both alive, so he didn't react to Bellamy's words. There was going to be no trading of lives here. There was only going to be Marcus trying to call ever favor he was owed, and even making a few in order to get the girl pardoned. Jaha might do it. They were friends, and with everything happening he could try. Though Jaha had floated Griffin and Jake had been his friend too. If he was to help his--his daughter then he was going to need to break a few rules.
But this wasn't where his mind was right now, as he stared at Bellamy who was talking. Marcus' expression was still in shock as he finally asked his own. "So you get to know about her, but I am deemed too unworthy to be a father until there is nothing else for you?" He asked, while thinking of the lies. Where did they begin? 17 years ago--or longer. Did he too have a son? Did he had one child, or two? "Did she hate me this much? Did you?" Had she raised Bellamy to think him an ass so he wouldn't rise coming to Marcus for help?
Octavia wasn't going anywhere, she was under 18 and they had time to get her pardoned. Bellamy however--this wasn't a conversation that could wait. Marcus pushed to a stand, and looked down at the young man who raised so much for a sister--and regretted never knowing that level of love from a child. One he would never get because the Blakes--Aurora and in a smaller part Bellamy--had denied him that joy. "You have known since she was a child that she was mine . . . how long have you know that you were too?" Marcus was calling a bluff to make Bellamy tell him, because he needed to know when the lies started. He needed to know if he had a son who hated him enough to never come to him. "And why I wasn't allowed to know? Why only now do I get to known when I am of use? Would I have not been able to better help years before it had gotten to this point?"
