It was just as Tracy had always described it, the warmth on her face, the crackling of dirt and twigs under her feet. She would have never guessed for this to be where she would end up. Aurora Blake had been prepared to die after her secret was discovered, but as it turned out she had a guardian angel in the form of her childrens father. He had saved her. He had hid her. He had freed her from his apartment when the Ark was about to die. He had pulled her onto Mecha station with him, that way she survived, with him. Now they were here, relatively unharmed, on earth. Like a few of the others, Aurora felt hope and longing at the same time, as if being on the ground wasn’t enough and it wasn’t. It could never be, not for her. Not when she had been separated from her precious kids for too long. The possibility of their death never even crossed her mind, they were alive, she would feel it if they weren’t, right?
It took them a bit to gather their wits and even longer to find the weapons, but once they knew they were sufficiently armed, once they knew Alpha Station made it down as well, they made their way to the other crashed station, meanwhile also trying to locate the children, though for Aurora only two of them mattered. As if it was fate, they came across a scene that would possibly be burnt into her brain forever. Her son, her precious sons face was almost unrecognizable under so many cuts, but she knew it was her Bellamy, there was no doubt. And someone wanted to kill him. She would not let that happen. Having demanded a gun – having been a previous guard – she now raised it. It only took one shot for her, one clean shot into the Grounders head and the situation was dissolved, but could they be sure this was the only one.
“Are there any more of them?” She asked, needing to ensure the safety first. The others looked around then, as if they only just now thought of the possibility of this man not being alone. Though Kane chose that moment to speak up about how it was okay, how they were safe now that they were here, Aurora couldn’t help but mumble to herself at that: “As if that’s going to reassure them. You sent them down here to die.”
