.:Personality:. At first Marcus comes off as someone who has a strong sense of justice. Someone who blindly follows law without thinking it through or having an opinion about it himself. As Marcus begins to grow as a person he learns that maybe what's best isn't what is lawfully considered right. He's he type of person who makes the hard decisions when no one else can. .:Birthplace:. The Ark .:Family:. Vera Kane - Mother - Deceased .:Occupation:. Council Member, Former Chancellor .:History:. Marcus Kane was just a council member who wanted to do things by the book. He knew that laws were made for a reason, for the people of the Ark's survival. And because of that, he felt as though doing things by what the law stated what the only one true way to live. It didn't matter what the person did, who there were or what Marcus felt towards them, the law was absolute in his eyes.
The chancellor had been shot, and this meant he needed surgery to save his life. After Abby gives Jaha more medical supplies and treatment than The Ark's limit, Kane arrests her for overusing the amount they are supposed to give. Kane says she will be executed for her crime, but Abby says she did this to ensure he will never become the chancellor. Callie Cartwig, Abby's best friend confronts Kane and tells her to let him go, which Kane refuses saying the penalty will stay.
Before the Ark crashed down to Earth, there was the 100. He had fought hard with Abby, his fellow council member, to prove that the kids weren't dying from Radiation. Because it looked like they were. And if they were, the Ark and everyone on it needed time. Decisions needed to be made. People..Sacrificed. He was all for the hundreds of people to be sacrificed to give the rest more time. But what Kane hadn't known was that Abby was right, the Earth was survivable and the kids weren't dying due to radiation.
On the Earth, Kane still had to face a few poor choice decisions, but ones that he still thought were right. He thought the law they had on the Ark would carry on and work on Earth, but he never considered how much the will and strength of the children had grown in the time they were down here. He was appointed chancellor since Jaha hadn't made the trip and had been stuck on the Ark.
Abby had allowed prisoners to escape, and gave them weapons to help her find Clarke. When Kane found this out he had to take action. He couldn't just slap Abby's wrist because of who she was, and what she meant to him. He had to make an example out of her. He punished her for her crimes, a public whipping.
After all of this, Kane had been captured by the Mountain men with Abby. The two were about to be used at donors for the marrow before Clarke had saved everyone.
