While Brendan loved teaching, he always struggled with the assigned classes of cadets. Naturally with the amount of kids there were limits to how many they could teach, logically, but the fact that there simply seemed to be next to no education on factory simply enraged him. There was nothing he could do, otherwise kids of other stations would get no education either. He couldn’t work against the system, even if he tried, but when he had to teach cadets of the guard Earth skills and war history, he was surprised at how little they usually knew. Safe for a few gems in one or two classes. In this class it appeared as if he had found a diamond. He hadn’t expected the tall, youngster to know much, given his mothers status, but it appeared as if Aurora Blake – that was her name according to files – really pulled a lot of weight all alone, obviously having homeschooled her son.
This was why he had intended to stay back this day, a book and a proposition on his table for the young man, who surprised him like that. “Mr. Blake. A word please.” He knew he sounded strict like that, but he always did. This was, even though it was a good thing, a serious matter after all, a serious proposition, something that could give the kid an advantage in the future. He had everything that he needed to get there, to better his position and his mothers at the same time and Brendan was intend on at least suggesting it.

whatever THE HELL WE WANT Bellamy was enjoying this, all of it. It was an entirely new experience and he was soaking in every second of it. He tried not to think about what his mother had to do it get him here and give him this opportunity. He focused only on what he could do with it. He could give her an alternative. He could find a way so that she did not have to . . . do what she did to gain information from the Guard. He could gain access to more information. He could better protect his family. While he enjoyed basic training, he especially enjoyed the theory based classess as well. Earth skills in particular. He found the class to be intriguing. While he read a lot and had been tutored by his mother . . . learning about Earth allowed some form of escape from the Ark.
When the class was over, Bellamy gathered his books and was about to stand to leave, when his professor asked to speak to him. He wasn't srue what it was about, but wouldn't think the worst until he had reason to. He knew he had to tread with extra caution now, being more in a public position. He had to make sure they didn't learn of Octavia. So he couldn't help but always feel a twinge of panic whenever he was singled out. Though he always hid it. He would not give anything away. Slinging his backpack over his shoulder he made his way to the front of the room to meet with the teacher as the other cadets exited the room. "Yes, sir?" He asked, intrigued as to what this was about, remaining respectful where he could. It also helped that he enjoyed the professor's teaching methods, and found him to be quite engaging, a clear intellectual individual which Bellamy wanted to learn all he could from.

Brendan never expected a lot from the people he taught, knowing most of them were way too old to understand most of what he taught them, least of all remember it. The problem was when he found someone who might actually be able to do something with the knowledge, to gather more of it, if he wanted to have more of it. Somehow Brendan had the feeling he might want that or might come to want it eventually. He was cleverer than most kids in his situation, a sign that his cognitive abilities were probably better than anyone could predict right now.
“Before you judge what I say, hear me out first. I have a proposition for you, Mr. Blake.” One that would help him a lot more than his other students, but gems like that needed to be helped, if they wanted it. The problem was to explain it to them. “You could leave this class. Or better put, I want you to leave this class. You’re so far ahead of the others, it would not be fair on you to keep you here to sit through lessons you learn within ten minutes that others almost need a day for. Now my proposition to you is, as I am sure you will pass this class easily: You can stop going to it and just take the test, while I will offer private lessons for you to go into deeper detail and learn more.”

whatever THE HELL WE WANT Bellamy felt a bit nervous, though was ensuring to keep it well guarded and remain stoic. He didn't often try to bring any attention to himself, considering the circumstances of his family. It was extremely important to blend in. To not do anything to single himself out. Judging from his professor's words though . . . it didn't sound like it was going to be anything bad. That however did not stop Bellamy's mind from thinking back as to what he could have possibly done. Brendan started off by saying he had a proposition for him, which immediately intrigued the cadet in training.
His next words were ones that said how he wanted him to leave his class. Bellamy would have asked why -- wondering if he had caused offense -- but fortunately Brendan eliminated any fears Bellamy had over this. The proposition turned out to be a rather good one. If Bellamy didn't have to attend this class, it meant that he could spend more time at home with Octavia. He knew his schedule of classes and training kept him from home longer than what they were used to. This could help that. But it wasn't only that reason that Bellamy felt excited about it. He couldn't help but feel proud that his teacher thought he was intelligent enough to not have to sit through class.
That he was giving him another option. How could Bellamy feel anything but pride in that? He was even offering to privately tutor him. "I really appreciate that Mr. Kovak," he began, wanting his professor to know that he was extremely grateful for this opportunity. "If you're sure its no inconvenience to you to offer me private lessons, then I would really like to take you up on this offer." He wasn't going to be think twice about it. It was an easy decision. And one he was just so appreciative for. "I'm grateful for this opportunity, Sir. And I won't let you down." Bellamy had never had a father figure in his life. He didn't know what it was to make a father proud. But he wanted to make his teacher proud; a man that he highly respected and looked up to as an intellectual individual.
