| ~ • ~ | Character Basics | ~ • ~ | .:Name:. Brendan Kovak .:Nick Name:. Bren .:Affiliation:. Arker .:Age:. 33 years old
| ~ • ~ | Appearance | ~ • ~ | .:Physical Appearance:. Brendan is a tall and handsome man, though he doesn’t give too much about appearances. He’s mostly seen wearing comfortable patched up clothes, reading a book or going over tests of students. He has bright blue eyes – a rare eye colors these days, due to the limitations of the gene pool that happened on the Ark. He usually doesn’t style his dark hair either, just combs it to the side, sometimes puts a bit of product in it, so the long strands won’t fall in his eyes. .:Height:. 5"11' .:Portrayed by:. Colin O’Donoghue
| ~ • ~ | Personality | ~ • ~ | .:Personality:. Brendan is a quiet person. He keeps to himself quite a lot, but he can get loud, if things call for it. He has a deep sense of justice and would defend any innocent any day. Brendan is a firm believer in second chances. Humans make mistakes, but people can also be redeemed. To him preserving culture is more important than preserving a single human life, so he was mostly okay with the floating. As teacher he found his passion, giving children a chance to experience the lost cultures and learn what skills they would need on earth. He might not be trained in fighting, but he’d fight like a lion for what he believes in and for innocents, even if it might cost his life. Brendan is romantic and enjoys company, though it might get too much for him on occasion. .:Special Skills:. He’s bookworm, full of knowledge. But most importantly he picks up very easily on languages. He’s part of the group of people, who was determined to preserve as many of earths languages as possible. As such he’s fluent in English, German, Gaelic, Spanish and French, semi fluent in Swahili, Latin, Greek, Italian, Finnish and Swedish.
| ~ • ~ | History | ~ • ~ | .:Birthplace:. The Ark – Alpha Station .:Family:. Giles Kovak [deceased] and Martha Kovak [deceased] .:Occupation:. Teacher – Earth Skills and Languages .:History:. He was the son of a scientist (his mother) and a high ranking guard (his father). Normally that meant they should have lived on Factory, though through his mothers research they were assigned a place close to her labs, so Brendan grew up on Alpha Station as one of the privileged. He started learning early. As soon as he could read, he was basically inhaling all the information in them. His life as an academic was laid out for him from that point on. He took interest in Earth Skills and languages, picked them up easily. So as he finished his formal education, he continued to study more and more languages and became a teacher. Brendan truly enjoys teaching kids of all ages in languages, culture and of course earth skills, skills one generation would one day need. Never did he think he himself would be part of that generation. Especially not as tragedy struck his own family. His father got sick. It was a simple sickness, something the doctors should have been able to cure easily. He busied himself with earning their rations, working a bit overtime by helping kids who were behind as well, while his mother visited his father frequently. Brendan was always up to date with his fathers’ worsening condition, but it hit him like a punch to the gut when his mother did not return to their apartment one night. He was informed that she too would have to stay with medical, in quarantine now. Both had contracted a multi- resistant virus that the doctors knew no solution to. He could just watch them slowly die. Brendan did not blame anyone. He continued working, moved out of the apartment into a smaller one, so a family could have the bigger one. His game changer was when the Ark came down. Having been on Mecha at the time, he survived the crash and joined people in Camp Jaha. He took to observing the Grounders, figuring it might come in handy to record and learn their language. As he had no knowledge of other teachers surviving yet, he was alone in starting to set up a school and gathering enough to teach the children again. They had skills to learn.
