this is not
YOUR DAMN ARMY
Earth was not what any of them had expected. For starters, there were strangely clad people who looked primitive. There were others who looked, a bit more like them and then of course, there was a large facility that was the current destination of McCreary and the other Eligius former prisoners. For here, that was not what they were. They were free from imprisonment, though the same could not be said for others. There seemed to be quite the game of politics, war, and struggle for control. Some peace treaties were reached and from what McCreary could gather, most sides were satisfied.
Though, it did beg the question: what about them. What was their cut? Where did they fit in? Like hell if the others would dictate what happened to them, but there seemed to be this air of authority that exuded from them. Diyoza was the one who was dealing with those conversations and McCreary did what he did best: looked for the best opportunity for him and his people. Once they reached Mount Weather they had been given a tour of the large facility, and given rooms to stay in. It was at least better than the ship's cells but McCreary wasn't naive enough to believe it would stay like this. Something had to give, and he would not be fully satisfied until he figured out the full truth of what was going on. Among his snooping once night, he came to find out that their former leader was being held prisoner.
So of course, McCreary had to find out more about him. The so called President's son, from what he gathered. Diyoza wouldn't approve of what he would do next, but like hell if he needed her approval. So, rather nonchalantly, he made his way to where the man was being kept, telling the guard that he had permission to speak to him. The guarded allowed it. Moron. Was everyone here as incompetent as this imbecile who just took a man at his word? McCreary entered the room to see the unassuming man who he'd come to learn was Cage Wallace. The former prisoner's eyes looked around the cell, slightly nodding his head. "Well, this sure as hell beats what prisons used to look like on Earth," he commented.
