whatever THE HELL WE WANT Bellamy had just finished training for the day. Now that he was a Cadet, the next little while would be filled with the physical training of being a guardsman, inclusive of weapons training and hand to hand combat. Bellamy was eager for the time to come where he would be a Guardsman. His mother would be able to stop . . . doing what and who she did, and he'd be able to protect Octavia better. This was perhaps the best option for his family, so Bellamy was all too eager to pass all his evaluations.
Instead of going straight home, he instead decided to read up on a few things, now having access to books and texts that he otherwise would not have. While it was not technically needed for his training, he wished to acquire all the knowledge he possibly could. So it brought him into one of the designated classrooms, now empty as there was none in session.
He made himself comfortable on the chair and started reading, so engrossed in the material that he almost didn't notice the figure that entered in the room. But after years of being paranoid of every approaching footstep, Bellamy was all too aware. When he saw who it was however, he immediately rose to his feet out of respect. "Sir," he greeted respectfully. This was after all, Marcus Kane and if there was anyone who a Cadet, or even Guardsman wished to impress, it was him. Who, was also perhaps one of the hardest people to impress as well.

salvation comes at a price
Marcus was a man of strong principal, and control. He liked rules, and he followed them, because rules were what was going to keep these people alive the longest. He knew the Ark was failing, but they had time to figure things out. If they didn't, then they could be facing the end of the human race. However, it was not these burdens that kept him staring at the table before him.
It was shock.
It was the an emotion he wasn't sure to feeling. The control he so liked over himself gone in this moment, as he stood in his office and read the report. Every cadet was blood tested, and it was added to their records. These things were important in case injuries happened. Blood was always tested to look for familial lines to know were they best donation sources were in case injuries happen. All people of the ark was eventually tested this way.
It was the test of a young man from Factory Station that held Marcus' attention--because it flagged his name as a match. Marcus, knowing he had no family, as asked a favor of a doctor; and they ran to blood again. It was a 99% match that he was the father. Which lead to the shock.
Deciding it would seek the son out, before the mother--as he didn't know what to say to her right now. An anger that he'd not known for so long crept under the shock and lost that he felt. Marcus found him in the training rooms reading. He stood just beyond the door for a moment, watching the young man before entering.
His . . . . his son, stood up and greeted him formally. Staring into his face, Marcus saw himself and even his mother there. It left him silent for a moment before he was able to clear his voice and speak. "Bellamy Blake." He offered his hand in greeting. "Marcus Kane." After shaking his hand, Marcus pulled both of his behind his back, trying to think about what to say.
"I'd like a word with you in my office. I know your training is done for the day, but I'd like to talk to you about something if you have the time." There was very few who he gave a choice too when asking them to do something, and even less people who would refuse the vice-chancellor of of the ark. However, he didn't want to begin this with an order. So he was was giving him a choice.

whatever THE HELL WE WANT He knew who he was. Damn it, Kane knew who he was. Ordinarily, the possibility of what that could mean would have any Cadet beam with pride and honour . . . but not Bellamy. While he sought to excel, he'd rather not have that attention brought to him. Especially with someone as high ranking as Kane. Bellamy extended his hand, firmly shaking the older male's. As if knowledge of name and having sought him out wasn't enough . . . he then said he wished to speak to him in his office.
Bellamy felt his heart beat heavily in his chest. Had he not spent majority of his life controlling panic and ensuring he remained stoic so not to risk any chance to others finding out . . . he would have been certainly sweating right now. But instead, Bellamy remained as guarded as he could. Despite the whirlwind of fear and anxiousness coursing through his insides. "Of course," he said, quickly gathering his books and putting them in his bag. One always made time for Marcus Kane; he was the last person you wanted to offend. "May I ask what it's about?" He asked casually, unsure if he'd even survive the walk to Kane's office.

salvation comes at a price
Good strong handshake, manners. Packed his bag and didn't leave a mess. He knew so little about his son, but he liked what he saw. Kane answered him before they began walking. "A personal matter. I'd rather discuss it privately." It was all that he could give him until they were alone. He didn't plan to let this be known until they were both ready for it. His public imagine was one he prided himself on. That and there was Callie to consider. He owed it to her to make her aware and apart of the choice he would make too.
The Ark only allowed one child, and he'd missed half the life of his. He was angry, and hurt. Not at Bellamy Blake. At his mother.
As they walked toward the offices, Marcus decided last moment that he didn't want to do this there. He wanted to be able to talk to his son in his own home. However, indecision wasn't something he was known for so he continued to his office. The walk felt as if it took hours rather then moments. Someone even tried to stop him to talk, but he answered with a clipped "Not now." and entered into the room. The office of Marcus Kane had little to make it fancy. There was a desk, and chairs facing it. As per the second highest rank, he had a office that had a small window too, with bookshelves on both sides to frame it. They a some old books from Earth, made before paper books became obsolete. Entering into the room, Marcus gestured to the hanging racks were Bellamy could hang his bag. "A drink?" He offered, knowing Blake could only had water but it was still an offer.
