.:Personality:. When Octavio first landed on the ground, she had an insatiable curiosity and sense of adventure. In many ways, those aspects of her personality have stayed with her, keeping her alive. She is fearless in most things, and always pushes the limits of her capabilities. Although she has forgotten it in the past, Octavia fights fiercely to protect those she cares about and save lives. She is willing to choose the difficult path, even if that means walking alone. She is prone to solving problems with violence, even when something else could work as well.

Octavia was born illegally on the Ark - a second child when families were only allowed one. Her entire childhood was spent hiding from everyone but her mother and brother. She often had to hide under the floorboards when inspections came around. Her mother and brother were her only connection to the outside world, and she longed desperately to be a part of it.

When she was 16, Bellamy found a way to finally let her leave their small home. As an Ark Guard Cadet, he sneaks her out into a Unity Day masquerade party. It was the most wonderful thing she had ever experienced - until everything went wrong. When a solar flare alert requires everyone to show ID, she and Bellamy run. She's caught trying to get back to their room, and spends the next year in lockup.

At 17, there is a plan to send 100 juvenile delinquents down to Earth to test if the land is viable for life. Octavia is one of those 100, and she is eager for the chance to leave the Ark that never wanted her. She loves the new world. One day, she's captured by a Grounder - one who saves her life. His name is Lincoln, and after a rocky start, he teaches her how to be a warrior. As they train, she falls in love with him.

She becomes an important force in attempting to blend Arkers and Grounders together. She learns the language of the Grounders and learns more about their ways. When some of the 100 are trapped in Mount Weather, she is able to help Clarke and the others keep them alive.

Once the rest of the Ark comes down to the ground, it is harder for Octavia to remain on both sides of the fence, and harder for Lincoln to fit in. Lincoln ends up sacrificing himself to help the resistance to Pike's command in Arkadia, which devistates Octavia. She blames Bellamy for it almost as much as Pike, and she kills Pike during the battle against A.L.I.E.

When another spike in radiation threatens to wipe out the Earth's population again, Octavia competes with members of other Grounder crews for the chance at survival of her people. Octavia wins the contest, but instead of allowing only Skaikru to stay in the safe bunker, she decrees that 100 members from every tribe on the Earth will be safe. She becomes the Commander of Wonkru, the mixed assembly of people that remain in the bunker for the seven years that the Earth is unlivable.

While the head of Wonkru, Octavia turns from a forgiving leader to a cold and unforgiving dictator. Nicknamed Blodreina, she forces those who break her laws to fight to the death. Through it all, she is trying to keep her people as one people and keep them alive in the wake of a coup against her. When the bunker is opened, she finds a new enemy of Wonkru in the form of Diyoza and her people. She leads her people in a relentless war against these newcomers for the chance to live on the one piece of viable land that the Earth has. Her war fails, but as the ground becomes unliable again, she saves all she can, urging them to get to the Eligius IV. There, with the rest of those who survived, she enters cryosleep.

When Octavia wakes up, they are flying over a new planet and a new world. She initially treats this as another battle, using her violence to try and carve out a space for her people. After a trip into the Anomaly on this new planet, everything changes. Octavia tries to find redemption for herself - the only way she can now survive.
