Random Number Generator Picked: 46.Your muse commits murder to save mine.
Wind whistled cheerfully through the stands and tents. People were gathered around in the market, selling and trading all kinds of things. It was Cert's first time in Polis, and being the only Floukru warrior there, he was getting multiple looks from mostly everyone he passed. He was noticeable by his clothing, and people either threw him looks or avoided him completely. He understood that Luna, his leader, had ran from the Conclave and now Floukru was living in solitude, but really? He hadn't expected so much negative attention.
He strolled through the streets, looking at everything curiously. This was so much different from Cert's home. He wanted to see every inch of Polis, as much as he was allowed, of course. He knew that all nightbloods were gathered in Polis, but to be honest, he hadn't seen any other nightblood than Luna. There could be others in his Clan that he didn't know about, but as far as he had seen, nightbloods were a rarity and they were being held here. Cert didn't have much objection to tradition and rules, but he didn't like the idea of the nightblood children being taken from their homes and family to come train here at a young age.
He ignored everyone around him, since acknowledging them wouldn't do him any good. He walked through the market, completely unaware that someone was following him. Someone who didn't quite like Floukru, and was planning on getting rid of Cert.

Aden weaved his way through the crowds, hood pulled up over his face to conceal his identity in case anyone were to recognise him. Technically he wasn't supposed to be wandering around alone without a guard, but he'd learnt how to slip his guards long ago- sometimes he just wanted to be alone to be himself without having someone constantly watch him. He was well aware that people would be looking for him by now, which is why he was trying to keep a low profile. However, he'd noticed someone who wasn't going as unnoticed as he was, the man was wearing clothing typical of Floukru and was attracting more than a few unfriendly stares. It was enough to concern Aden, he'd heard that many weren't too welcoming of Floukru and he wondered why the man had come to polis and strayed so far from his home. It took only a moment for Aden to change direction and follow him, deciding that it was his responsibility to ensure that the man didn't find trouble for himself.
They hadn't gone far before Aden realised that there was someone else following the man. It concerned the boy and he decided to keep a close eye on the situation, distrustful of anyone who might be following them, especially considering the hostility that he'd observed from other market goers aimed towards the Floukru man. The Natblida made sure that he never fell too far behind the two men, tailing them as they weaved through the marketplace. As his gaze travelled down to look at the pursuer's hands, he caught a glimpse of a blade partially concealed by his sleeve- the next second the man was lunging for Floukru man, blade ready to spill blood. Aden's reaction was immediate, driven mostly by pure instinct as he pulled his own knife from his belt and dove forward.
He drove his blade deep into the mans gut, forcing it hilt deep until something stopped it, heart racing, Aden felt the hood slip from his head as he looked up into the mans face. Blood bubbled from his lips, indicating the damage that the blade had inflicted and the boy lurched backwards, leaving the knife behind, embedded in the dying mans body. Stumbling backwards, Aden pulled his hood up again, once again concealing his face before he turned and ran "come on!" he called to the Floukru man, grabbing his wrist as he ran past him, dragging him behind him "this way!"

Cert whipped around when he heard a body hit the ground. He stared in surprise, seeing a boy pull his knife out of a man's chest. A blade glimmered in the man's hand. Had he been following Cert? He hadn't noticed anyone following him, or the hooded boy. The boy ran past him, grabbing a hold of Cert's wrist.
He was running after the boy before he realized that he was. He let the boy pull him in the direction he was running in, following the young stranger who had just killed man Cert hadn't seen coming.
"What was that man---" He ducked under a low tarp hanging from a wall. "Who are you?"

Aden ignored the man's questions, focussing on the destination he was heading, he ducked into a narrow alley and came to a halt at a doorway. There wasn't a door, just a shaggy curtain to conceal the room within and Aden glanced around cautiously before he shoved the man inside the dilapidated building. "Could you be more stupid?" Aden demanded as he entered the building after the man, glaring at him, baffled by his foolishness. "You were almost killed!" the words prompted Aden to look down at his hands, they were coated in the blood of the man he'd just killed. Swallowing hard, the boy attempted to wipe the blood off on his clothes, but it seemed to stain his skin red, marking him as a murderer. "If I hadn't been there, you would have been!" his hand had been forced and he wasn't happy about it. He'd killed someone, taken their life before he'd even realised what he was doing because it was what he was trained to do.
"It doesn't matter who I am" the boy retorted, returning to the man's earlier question "who are you? And what are you doing here?" it was unusual to see anyone from Floukru inside Polis, probably because when they did venture near, something like this happened. "So is your life worth the life that I took to protect it?" he asked, he had no interest in being friendly to this man, not until he learnt more about him. "Or will you make me regret saving your life?" he could have blown everything by helping this man, he wasn't even supposed to be out without a guard- he'd be in a world of trouble when he returned home, it didn't even bear thinking about. Cert ducked through the doorway, raising an eyebrow at the boy's words. "But I was not," he pointed out. "And you were there." He folded his arms, studying the boy as he wiped his hands on his clothes. "I am Cert," he told him, seeming unbothered by what had just happened. "I have never been to Polis before," he told him, though it was obvious. "I wanted to see the capital for myself."
He frowned at him, examining his expression. "Why are you asking me that? You are the one who killed him. You should be asking that to yourself." He began to walk around the room they were in, looking around the area.
"Thank you for saving me," he said, reluctant to thank him. "But regardless of whether you regret it or not, you killed that man to save my life. So I guess I owe you one."

The moment Cert opened his mouth, Aden decided that he didn't like the man- or at least, he didn't like his attitude. It was as if the whole situation didn't bother him, as if nothing had happened at all. "A man is dead!" he hissed, unable to comprehend how Cert didn't see how important that was. "Polis isn't safe for outsiders and that's what many here deem Floukru!" he didn't know if anything he said would get through to Cert, from what he'd heard so far, the man didn't care for the lives of others. The situation was serious, there would be consequences as the crime had been committed in a rather public setting, consequences that would only affect him as he was the one who'd committed the crime. Turning away from Cert, Aden tried to think but all he really wanted to do was yell at the man for his foolishness and reckless endangerment of his own life. "Heda's going to kill me" he muttered to himself as he thought of the audience he'd have once news of his actions reached those that expected better from him. Turning back to Cert, he pulled the hood from his head once again and fixed the older man with a glare "You have no idea what position you've put me in!" he told him, the man's casual attitude angering him. He was starting to believe that it would have been better for him to have left him to get attacked by that man, allowing them to fight it out amongst themselves would be less stressful for him at least. "You are the one who killed him, not me! I did not ask you to!" He narrowed his eyes at the boy, trying to understand why he was so upset over the man's death. He was trying to kill someone. In return, he got killed. That was fair, no?
"Everyone dies! He should not have tried to kill me. That is on him." He watched the boy pull his hood back on and glare at him. "Look, if it helps, I'll deal with Heda. I can take then blame. Like I said, I owe you. Besides, if you had not killed him, I would have." The boy blamed him for the man's death, and while Cert didn't agree that it was his fault, he was willing to take the blame for the boy. He owed him a favor, and didn't think the boy should be punished for saving his life.
