Zoology Question: Existence of Canines

This question is mostly to the staff, but everyone else can give their opinions too if you want. ^_^

After reading through the Zoology thread, I was wondering if wolves and domesticated dogs still exist within The 100 universe?

If creatures such as panthers, deer, horses, snakes, rabbits, and the other animals that are listed in the Zoology thread still do, wouldn't it make sense for canines to survive as well? 

Personally, I think it's possible that some - not all - have survived.

Hello Arkin,

I would classify the likeliness according to seasons and the canines behavior. We only have modern behavior and requirements to go from, which gives us mostly two set offs: Domesticated dogs and wolves.
Season 1 to 4 I would say it's highly likely for both kinds to have survived. We have vast woods and other wild and domesticated animals surviving.
Season 5 onwards is a bit more tricky. Wolves are very unlikely due to the very few woods left. Wolves, as their modern counterparts, show sensibility to the decreasing woods at the moment. The fact that in europe there are so little connecting wood areas left, has seen them extinct in many areas there. Season 5 seems to have a serious woods problem, so wolves are unlikely. Given the very limited room in other places (the bunker) domesticated dogs are equally unlikely now.
As the Zoology Thread is based in what is shown on the show, the show might show us canines and naturally, if given an explanation on how - say the dog was in the bunker - there is no reason why canines should not be present on the board.

With how season 4 ended, and how season 5 is going to look, I agree with you there. Makes you wonder how many other animals survived praimfaya. It may have missed that spot of land, but there still was all that radiation. Something to think about at least, and guess we'll find out when season 5 premiers.
