 salvation comes at a price
It had been a hard few weeks since the fall of the mountain, but their people were coming out strong. Marcus stood at the doorway into the Ark and watched as a group of them were making a garden, while others were working on a well. The wall was becoming thicker to protect them, but the truce was holding. It seemed they had finally found peace. Marcus hoped it would last. They needed some hope right now. After everything they had seen and done since landing on Earth, everyone needed some peace.
Turning he walked into the Ark, and away from what once was called Camp Jaha, but now they were in talks of changing the name. The halls of the Ark now warm, no longer the cold of space as he moved down them. Once he was at the room he had been using as an office--or the Chancellor was using, but while she was recovering and being the doctor, he was taking over the role in many unofficial ways--he entered and moved to look over the map. Trying to see what was out there. He had been in talks with Bellamy about sending out scouting parties to build a map of the world around them. He just needed to decide where to send them first.

Miller felt oddly nervous. He had applied to join the guard, completing a series of tests. The program had been accelerated considering the necessity of them on the ground. They had glossed over the academic portion and it was more about the physical training of it. So he had gone through the various physical tests and had a meeting with Kane who would ultimately make the decision. He supposed it made the most sense coming from him, not only because of his position of authority, but because there was a conflict of interest considering who his father was. And an inevitable bias. But, the irony was not lost on Miller. Kane had been the one to arrest him and now, he was the one who would be telling him if he made it on the guard. The thought brought a smirk to Miller's face as he knocked on the door, but considering it was open, he took a small step inside. "Sir," he greeted, waiting to see whether Kane had a free moment to meet with him or not. Despite the agreement, anything could change here. Though, Miller had to admit, this was the longest they had gone without someone immediately trying to kill them. After everything that happened at the dropship and then Mount Weather, it felt pretty damn nice to finally catch a break.
