.:Physical Appearance:. Gaia is slightly above average height and quite thin. She has dark skin, expressive brown eyes, and an oval shaped face. Her hair is long, styled into brown and white dreadlocks, sometimes braided into patterns and held in place with metal pieces and a leather and metal headband. She dresses in dark colors, often wearing hooded clothing. Until recently, she wore a necklace with a replica of the commander's flame.

.:Personality:. Gaia is very spiritual, willing to die for what she believes in, trusting the spirit of the commander to know when her time has come. She is kind and sympathetic, when it is warranted, but is fearless and steadfast, even when challenging those she loves, or those who hold far more power than herself. She does not bend her beliefs to suit others.
.:Special Skills:. Skilled in both hand to hand combat as well as swords and spears. Capable of sneaking around undetected, even well-guarded locations, if she already knows the layout. Loyal to Grounder traditions, and to their people.

.:History:. Gaia was raised by her mother, her father having died before she could form any memories of the man. It was a strict upbringing, her mother's focus always having been on raising Gaia to be strong and capable, though Gaia did not feel unloved. She understood that her mother wanted the best for her and for their people. And Gaia did as well, having that ingrained in her from a young age. As she got older, she began to train to become a warrior for Trikru under her mother's instructions, and she was a natural from the start, something her mother was quite proud of.

By the time she was 17, she was one to be feared, but while she remained devoted to her clan and the coalition, she had started to grow disillusioned over the last few years. She wondered if this was truly who she was, who she wanted to be, or if her mother had simply raised her to be younger version of herself. It was around this time she met a boy only a few years older than her who was a Flamekeeper. The more time they spent together, the more enthralled she found herself with his stories, and the depth of his faith and commitment to protecting the spirit of the commander. His purpose seemed far greater than fighting and leading armies, and eventually, Gaia decided to leave the path her mother set out for her, and become a Flamekeeper herself. Her mother thought she was throwing her life away. She did not understand. And the decision created a rift between them.

Once fully trained in her new chosen path, Gaia spent much of her time traveling among the clans in search of nightbloods. Her combat skills remained sharp as her travels sometimes put her in dangerous positions. She also learned how to be stealthy, and slip in and out of places undetected. When news of Lexa and Titus' deaths finally reached her, along with news that the young nightbloods ready for the conclave had been dishonored by an Azgeda girl who laid claim to the throne, Gaia traveled back to Polis to ensure the Flame was safe and their traditions were upheld. However, she was nowhere near Polis at the time of the news, and only arrived in time to find chaos had ensued in Polis in her absence. The girl who'd claimed to be Heda was dead, and Azgeda's new red-blooded king held the Flame.

Gaia would not let such blasphemy stand.
