Two months have passed since all but two levels of Mount Weather were completely eradicated, leaving only a few dozen survivors with a few hundred more dead. Clarke Griffin - Wanheda - unable to face the destruction she caused so many people, left the Sky People's camp and no one has heard from her since. Meanwhile, Skaikru has spent the last two months building Arkadia, a safe place for themselves on Earth as the fast-approaching winter finally arrives. Abby Griffin has assumed the position of chancellor, and has been maintaining good relationships with the surrounding Grounder tribes while working with the survivors at Mount Weather to come up with a permanent solution to their ongoing radiation issue. At last, the Sky People have obtained peace, but it can't last forever.
Queen Nia is waging a war against Heda Lexa, commander of the 12 clans, and Clarke Griffin is the first step toward starting that war. Thelonious Jaha and his motley crew never made it to the City of Light. Instead, they were found near death in the Dead Zone until they were captured by Grounders and taken to Azgeda territory, where they were held captive by Queen Nia's forces as a warning to Wanheda. If she wants to save her people, she will come out of hiding and surrender to the Ice Nation. If she fails to do so, her people will suffer.
Indra has received word that the Ice Nation has targeted Clarke, and she has relayed that information to Marcus Kane, who realizes they must intervene before Clarke falls into a trap. In order to protect her, he is sending out a small section of Arkadia's guard to find Clarke and keep her safe. But will it be too late? Will Clarke fall prey to the Ice Queen's plan?
