Each time the doors to the dorm were opened and the guards came in, Fox and her friends huddled together. The girl felt her heart hammering against her rib cage, nonetheless she tried to be brave but she'd never been as courageous as some of the other Delinquents like Clarke or Bellamy or even Jasper. She didn't want to always be that frightened little girl that had to be rescued by other, braver Arkers, forcing them to look out for her when they have so many more important things to do.
When they heard the guards approaching once more, their boots echoing through the hallway outside their dorm, everyone grabbed their weapons. Fox had been holding on to her own tool with all of her strength, clasping to it like a lifeline. As she lay on her stomach down on the floor like all the others were, pretending to be passed out from the smoak bombs the Mountain Men had thrown into the room, she tried to control her breathing, breaths labored from the fear she felt.
Fox felt a shred of hope when it seemed like she and her friends were gaining the upper hand on their enemies, but she soon felt a hand wrap around her wrist and drag her away.
She heard the triumphant yells of the other Delinquents as she screamed for Jasper and for anyone who might be able to help her as the armed men forced her through the hallway and away from the dorm.
She tried to fight the guards off as they dragged her into what looked like a laboratory, the bloody corpses she saw along the walls making her feel certain that she was going to suffer great pain and then die. Although she didn't have much hope left, her survival instinct seemed to kick in and made her struggle and dare to fight despite seeing no chances of winning this battle.
