.:Name:. Cleo Kom Azgeda .:Nick Name:. n/a .:Affiliation:. Azgeda .:Age:. 19
| ~ • ~ | Appearance | ~ • ~ |
.:Physical Appearance:. Cleo has dark eyes and dark hair, part of which she keeps in braids. She’s a little on the small side, but her thin body holds a deceptive amount of strength. Her mouth is typically twisted into a smirk. Only a few people in her life can draw a genuine smile from her. She has a simple metal ring she wears, the only thing she has left of her mother, and she has a habit of toying with it. Cleo is never seen without a knife, and there are usually more hidden on her person. She also has a few scars from battle, as well as kill marks that she proudly displays. .:Height:. 5’2” .:Portrayed by:. Ivana Baquero
| ~ • ~ | Personality | ~ • ~ |
.:Personality:. On the surface, Cleo is very much out for herself. She has little respect for authority or rules. She will fight happily for her queen (or king), but only because it lets her hurt the clan that killed her parents. A fighter through and through, she has no problem getting her hands dirty. Provided it suits her own ends, of course. Because Cleo always has an angle. Always. And most of the time, she walks away with what she wants thanks to a little talent at manipulating people. She tends to view others more as chess pieces than human beings, which often shows in how she treats them. Cleo has a sharp tongue with little concern for the feelings of those around her. In fact, she wears her sarcasm like armor. She’ll do anything to win, something that makes her a truly fierce opponent on the field of battle. She’s cunning and ruthless, and she’ll happily throw someone to the wolves to save her own skin.
There are a few exceptions to that rule, a rare handful of people who have managed to work their way into the heart she pretends not to have. Namely Morial and her sons. Although Cleo generally makes quite a show about not caring, using her snarky tone to deflect any such ideas. But her actions contradict her words. Cleo isn’t the sort to be dramatic in expressing her affection. Instead, it creeps into her smaller actions like offering to patch up a wound or using her sly humor to make someone smile or shifting her stance to put herself between them and danger. Most people would be surprised to find she can actually be quite selfless and protective when it comes to those rare individuals. But truly earning her trust is a task few have the patience, or the character, to accomplish. Those who can, however, will find her loyal to the end.
.:Special Skills:. Cleo’s a talented thief who knows how to move quickly and quietly. And while she can fight well enough with her fists or a sword, she’s downright deadly with a knife, whether it be in close quarters or from a distance.
| ~ • ~ | History | ~ • ~ |
.:Birthplace:. Azgeda territory .:Family:. deceased warrior parents whose names she no longer remembers .:Occupation:. warrior, second to Morial .:History:. Cleo was born to two proud Azgeda warriors who faithfully served their queen. In the end, they died for that loyalty. Cleo was only four when her mother fell in a battle with Trikru. Her father couldn’t bear the loss and began throwing himself into the most dangerous fighting spots. He died mere months later, also at the hands of Trikru. Their deaths sparked Cleo’s lifelong hatred of the Woods Clan.
The large village where Cleo had been born was not kind to orphans. Its people believed a true member of Azgeda should be able to survive without help and would therefore be made stronger. For a time, Cleo fell in with a small group of other war orphans. The older ones were able to scavenge food, but there was never enough. As one of the youngest, Cleo had to fight and claw to get anything to eat. Many nights she went to bed hungry and cold. But as she grew, she became both stronger and craftier. Necessity taught her how to fight and eventually how to steal. By the age of nine she was quite the talented thief, roaming aimlessly through Azgeda villages taking whatever she could to eat or sell.
Cleo struck up a few brief partnerships over the years, taking and learning whatever she could before jumping ship when the other party was no longer useful. Better to leave before they could betray her. She did well enough for herself though. There were still nights she was cold or hungry, but not nearly as many as when she was a child. By the time she was a teenager, Cleo could steal or con her way into almost anything she needed to survive.
She was sixteen when her life finally caught up with her. It had been a weak harvest, and Cleo’s luck was running dry. She tried to steal some food from a farm only to be caught by a warrior. The young thief fought hard, but eventually she was overpowered. She expected to be killed or at least to have her hand cut off. But the warrior seemed to see something in Cleo. She offered the girl a deal – become her second, let her train Cleo as a warrior, and she would tell no one of the crime she had witnessed. Seeing no other option, Cleo agreed, fully intending to make a break for it as soon as it was safe.
She took her chance a few days later, only to be forced to turn back by a blizzard. That seemed to start a cycle of what Cleo viewed as more bad luck. She would stay for a period of training and then try to leave only to be stopped by one thing or another. But Morial never accused her of breaking their deal. And the warrior had a lot to teach, although she certainly made Cleo work for it. Plus there was food and shelter and someone who seemed to take a true interest in keeping Cleo alive even though it gained her absolutely nothing, a fact that completely puzzled Cleo. The girl told herself she was sticking around only to learn what she could. But when the day finally came that no injury or calamity stopped her attempt at leaving, she found she couldn’t bring herself to walk away. So she stayed. This time for good.
Morial’s training has shaped Cleo into a strong warrior. She has yet to face a real war, having seen only smaller battles thanks to the truce forced by the commander she loathes. But she itches for the day they will rise against Skaikru and the other clans. Not so she can fight for her people or her ruler, because neither means anything to Cleo. No, she wants a chance to truly make her mentor proud. To prove that sparing her life that day was the right decision. Although Cleo would never say as much out loud, Morial and her sons have become the family she never had. Her loyalty is to them, and them alone. Their enemies are her enemies. And heaven help anyone who earns the fury of this young warrior.
NOTE – Morial approved the mention of her character.
