They had only been on earth for what, a week, maybe more? He had lost track of how long it had been, but one thing was clear: they weren't alone. After what had happened to Jasper, it was no wonder that they were trying to fortify their camp as best they could. Then Wells had been killed by the Grounders and who the hell knew what was going to happen next? Being in somewhat of a position of power, thanks to aligning himself with the right people (aka Bellamy), Murphy made the rounds, watching as the other delinquents worked on building the wall and making sure they stayed on track. He had always been the one everyone had looked down on, treating him like someone who shouldn't have even existed. Hell, even his mother had started doing that, especially when she was drunk, after his father had been floated. Murphy couldn't remember a time when he had actually been with people his own age and having a chance at a clean slate.
So yeah, he was going to use his power to his advantage, and he was going to enjoy the hell out of it. One of the delinquents dropped one of the logs they were carrying and Murphy deliberately kicked it away from then when they reached for it. "Stop being lazy and dropping things, get to work. This wall isn't going to build itself." He hooked his thumb in his utility belt, continuing to make his rounds. No, he wasn't going to be treated like the outcast here, damnit, not if he had anything to say about it. Murphy was done being kicked when he was down and this was his chance. He had been alone for so many years in his cell that his people skills were probably pretty rusty, but honestly he didn't care. He was just glad to be free of it. At least here on Earth, despite the outsider threat, he had a better chance of surviving than locked up in a cell until he was of legal age and then they could float him. Screw them all. He had been struggling to get by and so he had stolen some things. So what. He didn't feel like starving and there had been kids in Factory Station who had needed the food. He had managed to get the food to them but as soon as he had gone out of that area, the guards had found him and next thing he knew he had been locked away.
Murphy walked over to where they had a bucket of water they had collected from a nearby stream and scooped out a cupful. Downing the cool liquid, he closed his eyes for a moment, enjoying the momentary refresher before setting the cup back down and beginning his rounds once more. Looking around, he still saw plenty of silver cuffs on most of the delinquents. Even though a lot of them had given the cuffs up for food the other night, they still had a ways to go. The only way to keep the grownups from coming down here was to make them think they were all dead, but no one seemed to realize this. Idiots. Like it was going to be any better if the rest of the Arkers got down to the ground. It'd be just like it had been up there on the stations and Murphy wasn't about to let that happen. Murphy crossed his arms over his chest, watching the others work. They needed to get the wall up fast and they had already made decent enough progress. Now they just needed to finish it. "Hurry up!" he yelled out when he saw two delinquents taking their good old sweet time roping together two of the logs. Out of the corner of his eye, he saw two others start getting into a wrestling match, laughing as they did so. With a scowl, he began walking towards them. Time to teach them a lesson about goofing off when there was work to be done.
