| ~ • ~ | Character Basics | ~ • ~ | .:Name:. Hunter Solomon .:Nick Name:. The other kids on the Ark that were his age used to tease him by calling him Hun .:Affiliation:. Arker .:Age:. 13
| ~ • ~ | Appearance | ~ • ~ | .:Physical Appearance:. Hunter's mother always used to tell him that he could have been Snow White's brother, because his skin was as pale and his hair as dark as the princess'. She told him every night when she would read him the old fairytale and he would smile each time. His eyes are clear blue like the ocean and people always told his parents that they look far too serious for such a young boy as if they were holding a thousand secrets. Hunter's mother always tried to encourage him to smile more, but the boy always thought that a smile had to be earned and he shouldn't waste them on just anything and anyone. .:Height:. 1.48m .:Portrayed by:. Asa Butterfield
| ~ • ~ | Personality | ~ • ~ | .:Personality:. Hunter was always the quiet kid, sitting in a corner all by himself and reading a book while his peers seemed to avoid him because they thought he was weird. The adults always worried about him because he never talked much and wasn't interacting with the other children, but he just liked being by himself, escaping into different worlds through his books. He would read anything he could get his hands on, no matter if it was about earth history, mechanics or a fantasy novel. Hunter always tried to keep his anger inside because he never wanted it to rule him like his father's did. He never had a lot of confidence in himself because his dad put him down all the time, only opening up a little after his father died and he was finally free of him.
.:Special Skills:. Hunter has learned a lot of different skills by reading books on all kinds of subjects. He's pretty good with computers and he can identify most plants that were known before the nuclear catastrophy so he helps the farmers of Arkadia quite often
| ~ • ~ | History | ~ • ~ | .:Birthplace:. The Ark .:Family:. Mother: Evelyn Solomon – died in the Mount Weather explosion Father: David Solomon – floated for theft .:Occupation:. Student .:History:. Hunter was never really given a chance at a happy family life. The doctors trying to bring him safely into this world ran into some complications as his mother lost more blood than they had anticipated. The rules under the Exodus chart clearly stated how much blood a patient could receive to save their life and Evelyn was begging the doctors to save her child's life instead of hers. But the head surgeon was her husband's best friend and he decided, against everyone's advice, to give her more blood than she should have gotten. Mother and child had barely laid eyes on each other when Dr.Harper was arrested and sentenced to death. Not even his newborn son could console David in the grief over his friend's death. They'd always been as close as brothers and he couldn't bear the pain of losing him. He couldn't even look at his child because to him, he was the reason Gabriel had been floated.
David began drinking more and more, sometimes even trading his family's rations just to get one more drink. He started fighting with his wife almost every night when he came home drunk, smelling of booze. Hunter would hide under the blankets of his bed, pressing his hands against his ears to try and block out the yelling, making himself as small as he could. The first time his father hit him was when he was about five years old. He just couldn't stand hearing him yell at his mother anymore, her crying as her husband would call her so many mean things. Hunter jumped out of his bed and shoved his father, yelling for him to stop treating his mom this way. His father turned toward him in one swift movement, bringing his fist down against his face and causing him to fall to the floor. Mr.Solomon seemed as shocked as his son for a moment, but then he screamed at him that he had made him do this and that everything bad in the man's life was his fault.
That night was the beginning of years filled with abuse at the hands of his drunk of a father. Hunter was about ten years old when he started to wonder how much longer he would be able to take his father's abuse. His mother's only way to forget about their wrecked family life was worshipping and watering the Eden Tree and pretending that everything was alright. Hunter was even starting to wonder if killing him would be worth going to prison and likely be floated in a few years. At least he wouldn't have to take any beatings anymore and could live a few more years in peace.

His decision was made for him when his father was arrested and sentenced to death for theft. Of course it wasn't as if he'd been caught stealing food or other critical supplies like it was for most people. No, he got himself arrested because he needed more alcohol to drown out anything else besides his anger. The guards told Hunter he didn't have to be there when it happened, but the boy needed to watch his father be sucked out into space and know that he was finally free of him. His mother was beside him crying as she watched the final moments of her husband, but Hunter guessed that she mourned the man he once was, the one he'd never known.

As most people, Hunter was in the dark about the Ark's critical condition until there was talk about being with your family in the final moments. Now that he had experienced peace and freedom since his father had been executed, he was all the more afraid to have his life end so soon. It just didn't seem fair that he only got this short time of happiness, seeing his mother smiling and carefree. Hunter let his anger and grief take over just this once, yelling and screaming as he stood inside their small home and throwing things against the walls. He just couldn't believe it had to end this way. Until word spread about the Chancelor's new plan to get everyone home to the earth. Between that moment and his station crashing into the ground, everything seems to be a blurr. He just remembers holding on to his surroundings and his mother as tightly as he could, hearing her pray under her breath as they were falling.
Thankfully Hunter and his mom were among those lucky enough to survive the crash with nothing more than a few scratches and bruises. The boy closed his eyes with a smile as he took his first breath on earth, taking in the wonderful colours of trees and flowers and everything else he'd only ever read about and seen pictures of. Of course there were other dangers threatening their lifes soon enough and Hunter's mother didn't waste any time to take a chance at making a new home inside Mount Weather. Hunter felt excited when they took the trip to the mountain, he had heard about things such as paintings and books and a life much closer to their ancestor's than he'd ever experienced. The rooms inside the mountain were as exciting as he'd imagined them and Hunter didn't waste any time to begin exploring them. He did go against his mother's wishes and left the tunnels to explore the surrounding land, trying to see if he could find any more plants he knew from the books he read back on the Ark. He was just bending down to examine a wild flower when he was thrown to the ground. Everything went dark and there was nothing but a loud ringing in his ears. His right arm hurt and he felt something wet sticking to his face, his hand coming back covered in blood after he touched his forehead. Hunter could only see flames and devastation when he turned around towards Mount Weather, but he was too much in shock to realize that everyone inside, including his mother, had died in the explosion.
He stumbled through the woods bleeding, as if he was in a trance. Only when he felt two hands on his shoulders did he come back to life and started screaming, yelling and sobbing. He tried to fight against the older boy who'd stopped him, his defense mechanisms from his father's abuse still intact, but he couldn't break free and eventually collapsed against the older one's chest, sobbing loudly. Bellamy didn't leave his side as he was treated by the medics and he wouldn't stop talking to Hunter, even though the boy still hadn't said one word three days after the explosion that had killed his mother. Only when Bellamy had to go on one of his routine tours around the camp did Hunter protest and begged the older boy to stay. He didn't want to lose anyone else and although they didn't really know each other, the young guard was the only person that didn't feel like a total stranger.
