salvation comes at a price
Strep. She had told him that someone had gotten strep and he needed to be inoculated. Marcus was angry. He didn't wear his anger like he had in this youth, so the only signs that he was angry was in his still he was. His expression and tight shoulders. She'd lied to him. He wasn't surprised that she had lied to him, but he was angry she had done it. The lost of her daughter had softened him for a moment while he was arresting her, but when the damn pod launched he wanted to shake her. The kids were not going to make it. Earth was not livable. She had sent one more person down to die, and all to stop him from trying to save the rest of the people! It was bad enough that she had Jaha abstaining his vote, and they were waiting a few more days!
They had gone a week with no deaths, and he had thought her up to something when she had gone to Mecca station 9 times, but finding out this? He took a deep breath, to calm himself. Nigel had sold her out. He had been trying to float her for years, and Abigail knew it. She had risked everything for a lost cause and he was angry she couldn't see that.
Pushing open the door to the room she was being held in he walked briskly to the table and leaned on it, so he towered over her. "The people are getting restless because once again something launched to Earth." She had done this. Stirred the pot. He had told her in the hallway that he could try to save her, and Raven (as Marcus didn't want to see her floated, just out of his way) but after what she had done he didn't see how. Jaha had used his powers though, and once again Abigail was saved from being floated. It left Marcus wondering, again, what their relationship was. "Was her life worth it? Was your life worth it?" Damn it! He knew she was hurting because of her daughter, but he she wanted to save people he had told her how!

Abby still believed that earth was livable. That the kids they sent down didn't die in vain. That Clarke didn't die in vain, though she still believed that Clarke was alive. In her heart of hearts, she had to. Otherwise not only had she caused the death of her husband and those kids but her own damn child and that was more than what the mother Griffin could bear. Of course not everyone believed the same as she did and she was walking a fine line, just begging to get caught. And she did. If Kane had waited just a few more minutes, Abby would have been down on Earth. Raven wouldn't have had to go alone and Abby could have proved her theory was right.
"Then maybe you should tell them." Abby responded, her eyes glaring at Kane, the stubborn will to meet that gaze and not look away, not back down. "If you had waited a few more minutes I'd be down there right now." He took that away from her. Took the chance of her seeing her daughter again and that made her raise her proverbial hackles. "Given the choice I'd do it all over again. Because those kids are still alive. Earth is livable. You just don't want to see it." Abby hissed. Earth had to be livable, not wanting to think this had all been for nothing. The kids had only been sent down because they were expendable. Clarke had been expendable(and she had fought for Clarke not to be part of them but that went ignored).
"If giving up my life means I can prove that my theory is right, it's worth it." There was nothing he could say or do that would change her mind. This was not the first time the pair had come to loggerheads and it wouldn't be the last. Abby didn't do it to spite Kane no matter what he thought but he was stubborn, much like her. Going against each other was like an explosion waiting to happen, neither one moving, neither one willing to give up. It was both admirable and infuriating and she actually felt sorry for anyone who had to deal with the pair of them together. It couldn't have been fun. Marcus Kane

salvation comes at a price
"Then maybe you should tell them." Tell them? Marcus knew that coming from her that said a lot! She had been the one to turn her husband over to Jaha, and Jaha had floated Jake for that very reason. Marcus hadn't like the idea, but he hadn't stood up and stopped it ether. She had known then, just has he knew now--telling the people of the Ark would only start a riot and cause unneeded panic. He made a mental note to keep her from the general population, if Jaha allowed her to live . . . Which he had the feeling Jaha would. Kane still wasn't sure what was between Abigail and Jaha, but she was always forgiven for everything.
Marucs didn't realize that he hadn't even considered telling Jaha she wanted to tell the others. "If you had waited a few more minutes I'd be down there right now." He rolled his eyes at her dramatics (and Marcus rolling his eyes and showing anything from his tight control was rare). If he had walked slower, she'd be dead. "Given the choice I'd do it all over again. Because those kids are still alive. Earth is livable. You just don't want to see it." He was willing to admit that he wanted it to be livable. Not to her, but to himself. He wanted a way out of this, but if he didn't push, if he didn't make the culling happen then for every single day that he let this go on, another 20 people had to die. 10 days. 200 people. He would not let this go on.
"If giving up my life means I can prove that my theory is right, it's worth it." Her theory. He inhaled slowly, and spoke in a controlled voice. It was tight with anger, but Marcus was always in control of himself. "The loss of your daughter was hard on you, and I understand you need to believe this." He didn't have any children, and right now he was glad he didn't. He couldn't afford any weakness right now, even if it was something he normally wished for. "But I will not let people die because you have a theory." He was trying to save everyone. "You killed that girl when you sent her to Earth." That didn't mean he hadn't put a man on the radio to be watching for a message from Reyes, it just meant that he knew it would never come. "And you know what the worst part is? You're not even sorry. You don't even care she risked everything on something you can't prove beyond a mother's emotion."
