Open Thread The thin-framed girl had been out foraging and hunting in the forest for about an hour now before she had started to feel her ankle acting up. Her eyes were narrowed with a small amount of pain but annoyance masked over the majority of it. She silently cursed herself for her faulty ankle which was still healing quite slowly. She had just found one of the mutated deer and had been chasing after it before she'd bent it at a weird angle and was forced to stump to a painful stop. She had found quite a few nuts, berries and edible leaves but that couldn't really feed more than two or three people at most. So, the pixie-haired girl sat down in the middle of the forest that was slowly becoming cloaked in fog, hinting that it might rain soon or had already rained. She was still getting used to the weather down on Earth. Her eyes narrowed more and she put her cold hands on her ankle in an attempt to numb or massage it. It helped somewhat but she was still feeling sore about the entire thing. She felt so useless at this point, who knew if her ankle would ever heal properly. As her eyes skimmed over it, you could see the giant purple scar that plagued it. She chewed her lip as she sat on the mossy rocks, waiting for the pain to subside so she could go back to camp with someone worthwhile. But as she sat, she continued to beat herself up over it. She cursed herself for appearing weak when there were people who had it much worse than her. @ tag - # # # - notes MADE BY VEL OF GS + ADOXOGRPHY 2.0

▌ Woodlands, Earth ▌ Useless
Boredom was something that oftentimes riddled Justin more than he would particularly like. Every since they had successfully made it to the ground below, which was once thought to be uninhabitable for humans following the genocidal war, he had been stuck with nothing to do. Sure, there was playing jokes on people and trying to instill some sense of; well, anything into the delinquents' camp, but jokes didn't exactly help to battle against starvation or helped to gain information about their new woodlands. This was why the eighteen-year-old had struck out by himself deep into the realm of oak trees and just relative nature, brown eyes soaking up the sight of something that he would have never thought possible some time ago on the Ark---having a chance to feel the soil sift through the tread of your shoes, the smell of spruces replenishing the once tainted atmosphere, and an overall sense of calm.
His tranquil stroll through the land of serenity had been met with a less-than-surprising discovery; a camper who was nursing an injured ankle. Funny, he had thought that he was the only one who was bold enough to venture that deep into the woods all by their lonesome.
"That doesn't look pretty," he paused a little, just as he fully rounded around the tree with his hands raised in the air as to not scare his fellow delinquent. "Well, not as pretty as the rest of you, anyways." He hadn't seen her around before--he probably had, but who was honestly keeping track? Though, he doubted that he had, given the fact that the girl looked like being called beautiful was a drastic understatement. He didn't know much when it came down to healing wounds and such, but he felt that it would be his duty to help the girl back to her feet; which was why he offered her his arm to use as a support beam, that is, if she would acquiesce to his simple and heartfelt offer. "I really couldn't leave you out here without it eating away at my conscience. I'm Justin by the way. Justin Winslow."

Elijah's body tensed for a second once she heard a voice to the side of her, she didn't quite recognize it but knew not to be too jumpy. The voice didn't have the hardship that a Grounder did, leading her to believe that it was an Arker like her. She glanced over to see who had shown up and she actually did recognize him. She'd seen him around the camp a few times but hadn't really made an effort to talk to him. She'd been too tired or too busy to do so. But here they were now: meeting by coincidence. She let out a small scoff at his comment about her being pretty, looking down at her ankle, "Yeah, that's what happens when your little spaceship crashes into Earth's atmosphere and decides to go off target and nearly kill everyone." She shrugged, looking up to see that he was offering her his hand. She smiled up at him warmly and grasped his hand lightly, lifting herself up when he pulled her towards him. "Thanks," She said, her voice a bit quiet, "My name's Elijah Tanner. But you can either call me Eli or Ellie." She introduced herself as she looked him over. Her bright eyes scanned him. He was tall, handsome. IT made her wonder what part of the Ark he had been on. She smiled at him again before brushing a lock of hair behind her ear and looking down at her ankle again. She was still feeling a bit sorry for herself, biting her lower lip as she tested how much weight she could put on her ankle. She grimaced and her brows furrowed as a sharp pain struck up her leg like white lightning. She cursed softly and looked at him, "Honestly, i didn't expect it to act up today. But i'd seen a deer for the first time in days and it got the best of me." She sighed with annoyance, standing on one leg to roll her bad ankle in the air. She grabbed his shoulder for support, "Thanks for helping me up though, i don't think i know how to get back." She looked at him with a sheepish look. MADE BY VEL OF GS + ADOXOGRPHY 2.0

▌ Woodlands, Earth ▌ Useless
"Hmm, I suppose so. I personally didn't think that we'd survive the landing," he had stated as he helped his fellow delinquent to her feet, which was an albit awkward standing due to the fact that she was recently nursing her ankle before Justin chanced upon her. "Elijah Tanner. It's a nice name." He paused for a moment, as if mulling over the thought of the two choices of nicknames that his compatriot had told him that he could her by. "I'll call you, Eli."
Eli's smile had moderately thrown the youth off, his brown eyes possibly staring too long at the captivating view of pearly whites and a lock of untamed hair being swept behind the security of her ear. Just as he felt a bit of awkwardness coming on from the situation, Eli stared down at her bum ankle, and the situation relatively transitioned back into a feel of normalcy. Justin wasn't exactly smooth with the ladies, and if he would've stared any longer, he was sure that he would've started stuttering and stammering all over himself. Justin then watched on as Elijah tested the sturdiness of her injured ankle, all the while using his shoulder as somewhat of a support beam for her action. The weight test had miserably failed, which was made apparent by the grimacing look on the girl's features, and her hands gripping tighter into his shoulder. "Ouch. How did that happen, anyways?"
"YOU SAW A DEER?!?! OH MY GOSH, I HAVEN'T SEEN ONE OF THOSE YET!" It was excitement to be on the Earth; excitement to see some of the illustrious creatures that had been educated on prior to their school days.
It was safe to say that Justin hadn't exactly been paying attention to those lessons, but whatever.
Once the excitement died down a tad, Elijah confided in the eighteen-year-old that she didn't exactly know the way to get back to camp (didn't really know how far she would make it aimlessly wandering around the woods with a bum ankle anyway), so Justin leaned in a little closer to the alluring female, supporting a little bit more of her weight so her ankle wouldn't have to bare it all. "Right this way, madam." Justin would've bowed, but he really couldn't since he was helping Elijah out with the whole walking thing. "I'm not exactly the best tour guide, but whatever."
Sadly, he wasn't.
"So, what is there to know about Elijah Tanner?" He'd ask as they slowly embarked on their journey.

Elijah laughed softly again when he complimented her name, "Yeah, i don't look like an Ellie, do i?" She inquired. "But my dad always called me that." She said, looking at the ground with a sigh as her mind filed through a few of her favorite memories with her father. She looked at him for a second with raised eyebrows before they pinched together again when she remembered how her ankle got messed up. "When we crashed, we had that half of the ship rip open, right? I was right next to it and a piece of metal ripped backwards and sliced it open and tore a tendon or something inside." She mumbled, "It's still healing but i'm too stubborn to stay in camp and rest." She laughed, shrugging. Elijah looked at Justin excitedly, "They're quite weird looking! The one i saw had 7 legs and 4 ears and two snouts!" She said, making hand motions near her face to point out where the extra pieces had been placed on the deer. She stepped closed to him as well, wrapping an arm around him comfortably as he took a bit more of her weight. She smiled at him again as they began their descent back to camp, "I think you'll be a fine tour guide if you can just get us back in one piece." She joked, running a hand through her hair to push it to the side and out of her eyes. She bit the inside of her cheek at Justin asking her about herself. She didn't really have a lot to say about herself, she let out a small huff of air as she thought about herself. "Well, before we got sent here, i was training to work in the Agro Station. I stole some food, i got caught. And here we are." She said with a shrug, looking at him. "But i do like being outside and hunting. I was a damn good runner before my ankle got sliced." She told him and looked ahead of them with a smile, "I used to draw and paint a bit. But the only hobby people have down here now is to either drink or eat those nuts that cause you to hallucinate." She chuckled. Elijah turned her eyes back onto Justin, looking at his hair mostly. It was different. A little odd, but she liked it. She smiled wide before looking back down to his eyes, "What about you? What is there to know about Justin Winslow?" She asked him, tilting her head to the side a little with a tiny smirk. When she brought up her father, Justin was somewhat able to pick up on the level of nostalgia brought along with it. Was there also a sense of sorrow? Choosing to respect her emotions and to shift the conversation over from distant loved ones, Justin chose to instead inquire about her ankle, which was given with Eli's explanation about what happened. A deer?!?! Justin was probably more excited than he should have been when she mentioned the deformed deer, but he hadn't really had a chance to view any sort of wildlife since their unexpected visit to the terrain below. "Ouch, that doesn't sound fun at all. You should stay off that ankle for a while than, Ellie," he'd said Ellie almost absentmindedly, and quickly attempted to work around the remorseful nickname. "Let's say we test out that ankle, yeah?" Once Eli acquiesced to his offer, and the ankle still wasn't found to be somewhat resilient, Justin offered an arm to support the bulk of her weight. Before they both knew what had happened, the duo were walking through the unfamiliar woods with only each other, while Justin attempted to learn more about his fellow delinquent along the way.
"Argo Station---that sounds like it was...boring," Justin playfully joked when she mentioned how she spent her time up in the Ark, which seemed a world away at this time; truthfully, it was. "Ohhh, you stole something, too. Wow, you're a bad influence on my, Eli. You know that?" Justin chuckled playfully, his brown eyes searching through the woodland environment for any familiar signs. When she mentioned that she was a runner, Justin almost jumped from sheer excitement. "You too?!?! Whenever I run, I won't get caught nine-times-out-of-ten," he smiled sheepishly, staring at the ground and then back to his alluring compatriot. "Uhh, I did say nine-times-out-of-ten." He had been caught before, which was why he was sent to the ground with the other one hundred. "You can draw? I never could, sadly. Maybe, you could teach me sometime?"
"Yeah, those berries are top notch...so I've heard," he'd stated before the conversation had grown quiet. A couple of meters of shifted dirt and cracked twigs later, Justin had dared to venture to glance at Eli. She was staring at his hair. It was a mystery of his own. He wanted to be different and that was one of the ways that he had come up with. Also, since there wasn't any dye on the ground, it would be gone pretty soon. "You like the do," Justin remarked while gesturing to his hair with his free hand, then proceeding to strike a few model poses to instigate the gestures. "I'm styling, right?"
"What is there to know about me...? You mean, besides the dye?" There wasn't really much to know about the eighteen-year-old, because he never really told people much. His backstory was incredibly depressing, and he oftentimes tried to shy away from it. But, since it was just he and Eli, he figured he may as well inform her of his own transgressions on the Ark. "Well, I'm Justin Winslow. It's nice to meet you, Eli. My story is basically just like everyone else's. I was an only child, my parents both had jobs but it honestly wasn't enough. My father resorted to stealing," he paused, heaving a pretty heavy sigh as foreshadowing for the revelation. "And, he was floated when he was discovered. The Ark made Justin Winslow into a thief. My mom couldn't support me and her by herself; I'd helped out anyway that I could; if that called for stealing then so be it, you know? Skip to present day, and I discovered an injured, but still unblemished gem in the forest." He chided with a small chuckle as he noticed a tree with thick foliage and an indistinct marker on its bark. "We're heading in the right direction. Thumbs up for that!"
