Dylhan watched quietly as the girl into Arkadia. He had been spending more and more time alone. He just had his fourteenth Birthday and had not told anyone about it. He was beginning to withdraw more and more each day. Dylhan had been going in to do training with the others, and after a few months he was able to handle knives, swords and smaller handguns. He even had weapons of his own now. It was then that he saw the girl make eye contact with him. His eyes widened as he realized who she was. She was from factory and they had known each other from before. She looked pretty scraped up though. Mel was a quiet girl and he had known her for a couple of years now. He didn't move though as she was being taken away to medical. Bellamy glanced over at him and he slid off the table he was whittling on and walked away. The closeness that they had had seemed to be deteriorating as Dylhan withdrew more and more. When Bellamy had come back with the others he had been covered in blood. Then when he heard what he had done, he became sick. He hated that they were killing people like that. Why couldn't everyone just get along. He didn't know how long Mel had been there, but apparently she and the other guard had been out gathering supplies. They must have run into something or some one had a fight and come back. Mel looked a little upset and Dylhan wanted to talk to her. He didn't even know that she was even on the ground or that she even made it. Another thing that everyone had not told him. But then, how was anyone to know that they knew each other and had been friends. Neither one of them said anything about it. Once inside medical he started looking around the different areas until he heard voices. One of the medics and Mel's. She still sounded the same. amber2

Mel sat on the table as the medic looked her over. But she said nothing about what had happened. She rarely did. The guard had been showing her where to find food and they had been attacked by a few grounders. They were angry about the incident awhile back the others had been ordered to take down the the army. She had been knocked down, but had seen what had happened next. The guard was protecting her and himself and that was what mattered. But she still felt a twinge of guilt as she watch the others die. She didn't blame the guard for anything. He had been good to her and helped her settle into the new colony easily. But lately the new chancellor was beginning to scare her. She felt nervous as she heard about the war and that Arkers were fighting to obtain more land. She almost thought that being floated would have been a better alternative than to come down and see the devastation everywhere. She still hadn't gotten over the fact that the members of the factory ship had died. Though she wasn't for sure if her parents died with them or had set off to find her. She even wondered if they were out there. Outside the gates still among the grounders. Or if she might find them in a place call Polis. But she didn't dare strike out on her own. Even with the training she had been doing, learning to fight. The others were great with her and she liked the other delinquents. They had been good to help her. But still....she wanted to be sure that her parents were really gone.
She suddenly heard footsteps and looked up to see..."Dylhan!" Jumping off the table she ran to him and hugged him tightly. It had been a few months since they spoke and she was missing her friends and family. She felt medic come over and do a few more touches on the wounds on her face and then she said Mel could go. She grabbed Dylhan by the hand and nearly ran out of medical so they they could go talk.

He was sad as he continued to follow Mel to her quarters to talk. He had grown taller and Mel was still small and helpless looking. Though, she still had the stubborn look in her eyes that he well remembered for being on the Ark. They had gone to school together and she had been the one in class to question everything. She made sure the door was secure behind her and then she went and sat down on the bed. He sat on the only chair in the room and turned to look at her, wondering why they were in here. Suddenly she began to ask a ton of questions. About his parents and what he had been up to. She was so full of questions. Questions he didn't want to answer. he sighed and looked down. He didn't know what to say. After a moment he bit his bottom lip. "Mum and dad were eaten by reapers." He stared at his boots as he began to tell her what had happened when they landed. The story of how the attack happened. He hadn't spoken about it for months and Mel was the only other one that knew besides the medics. It seemed like it had been an eternity since he had seen her and suddenly she was here talking to him. When he finished he looked up at her. But his eyes seemed empty of emotion. He didn't feel much anymore. Not really. After his parents died he wouldn't attach himself to his foster parents and they soon gave up on making him come home every night. Though sometimes he had, just to sleep. He gazed at Mel a bit longer. "What happened to your parents. How come they aren't here. I only see one bed." He glance around the room worried about what she might say. Her parent were awesome. amber2
