.:Mel is a small girl of native American origin. She has brown eyes and long dark brown hair. She has a slender build and  is small for her age. :.

.:Mel is a shy, stubborn girl. She gets scared easily and yet she is helpful when she wants to be. She was a bit more outgoing on the Ark where she had more of a sense of security, but when she landed and became the only survivor of the Factory Station. The occurrence made it a bit difficult for her to accept and like the other kids she was soon having the nightmares and facing reality in a whole new way of life. She soon adopts the philosophy 'If you can't beat them join them.' A decision that affects the way she lives her life.:.

.:Mel was born on the Ark to parents that loved and cared about her. She had started helping in the kitchens before the decision to go to the ground, so she has no skills really to start with. She is young and willing to learn what she can. A meek and mild mannered child, she rarely found cause to get into trouble. Her parents were both mechanics on the Ark and she was often left alone to her own devices. But she didn't let that get her into trouble. She spent a lot of time in the Ark's library and learned to enjoy reading. Tarzan, Jungle Book, Swiss Family Robinson were among the many that she found fascinating. She had a personal copy of Tarzan. Passed down to her from her great grandmother. The book was lost in the devastation when they landed on the ground and she was the soul survivor. The nightmares that followed had left her a bit shaken at time and she was careful not to tell anyone what she was going through. Though just like the delinquents she too had her own demons to kill in a sense.

Mel is a bit distrustful now that she is on the ground and spends the majority of her time alone. Though, she begins to open up as she starts training to be a guard. Something she wants to do because she is so small. She feels that if she learns to fight and how to weapons she would be able to take care of herself. She misses Sterling as she had hoped to be able to have a friend on the ground. But instead she saw him fall to his death trying to save her, leaving a feeling of guilt that would stick with her for the rest of her life. :.
