Lizi climbed out of the boat and dragged it onto shore. she knew it was not going to be missed really. There were a few boats at the oil rig, plus she knew that at some point one of her people would find it and take it back. But she herself was not exactly wanting to go back. It had taken a lot of courage for her to sneak off of the rig in the first place. Though it wasn't because she was afraid of what might happen. He people were pacifists for the most part. Most did not carry weapons. She didn't have on on herself at all. She was not afraid to die if that were to happen. If she were able to see the land, that was all that mattered to her.
Once the boat was settled on the shore she picked up her pack and turned to face the beach. She couldn't believe she had made it this far already. Her legs were a bit shaky as she realized she didn't have to compensate for the movement of the water to balance. So walking was a bit awkward at first. Though, soon she had left her sea legs behind and started off toward the trees. at first they seemed far away and it was like she would never get there. By nightfall she was just entering the woods. The smell of pine and rotting leaves reached her nose and she suddenly surprised at the changed in the air. The smell of salt was gone and she inhaled the fresh air around her. She kept going, looking for a place to bed down for the night. She was hoping that she would be able to use the flint that she had brought to start a fire. As she gazed up at the night sky, that was partially hidden by the tops of the trees, she realized that they basically looked that same on land as they did on the oil rig. Though, there you could see all of the night sky.
She suddenly stopped as she saw a light up ahead. It looked like the glow of a fire. But she wasn't sure. She took a step forward and then kept going. Her long blonde hair was now blowing in the breeze. It was rare for anyone one of her people to have platinum blonde hair and especially the eye color that she had. In the moon light they appeared purple. Well a violet blue. That was even more strange in and of itself. Though, she was not quite sure how it came to be, her parents were both dark haired and had brown eyes. But it didn't matter, she was still accepted by her people. She continued to walk toward the light, not realizing that she could be walking into danger. Where she was from, everyone was accepting. So it never occurred to her that anything possibly could go wrong. As she came into the clearing, she saw her. The girl with long dark hair and she was...it looked like she was looking at her hand. Lizi saw the hand and thought nothing of it. It was a bit deformed, but she didn't care about that. The fact that she was actually able to see her first grounder on land. That was what got her excited. It was then that she stepped on the stick. Something she had avoided the whole journey. Her eyes widened as she knew that any moment the girl would look up and she would have nothing to say to justify her just seemingly sneaking up on her.
