Atom lean against the wall as he waited for Bellamy to show. He was there early and ready to start training with Bellamy. Though, the fog had done a number on his lungs, he had hope that they would eventually heal. The medic said that it was not permanent and that he would be fine. But he wanted more than anything to get back to where he had been. He hated not being as tough as he once was. But he was going to do whatever it took to become a warrior again. The sound of people outside reached his ears as he waited. He wonder how the rest of the adults were handling their new life on the ground. He was not scared of much now. Like the other delinquents, he had been though it all. The attacks and killings. None of the delinquents were the same anymore. Not really. Most had been imprisoned for stupid crimes in his opinion. But the chancellor and the others had not seen it that way. How could they? They followed the rules of the ark. So many of his people had been floated for crimes that a hundred years ago would have just been considered a mistake. But the world had changed.
He sat down on a chair and began the whittle a stick he had found earlier. Not that he was really crafting anything. But he wanted to keep busy. He would be sharpening his knife tonight when he went back to his bunker. He had been told that he might have to share down the road, but for now he was alone. He tossed the stick and pulled out another one as he let his thoughts wander. It had been quite awhile since they had landed on the drop ship. Since then they had all been through more than what anyone should have to adore. He knew that some of the kids still had nightmares, caused by the post traumatic stress syndrome that affected them. He wasn't any different, but he never spoke about it. Not really. Every one dealt with it. It was a part of their lives now. You had to fight to stay alive and sometimes, unfortunately, that meant killing to do it. Just to save your own.
He heard footsteps approaching now. He was sure that it was Bellamy. Octavia wasn't the same for the most part anymore and he still cared about her, but the crush he'd had on her was gone. He was not sure if it was because of all that had happened or if he was more loyal to Bellamy and really didn't relish being tied to a tree again. He had learned how serious Bellamy was at the time. But, he had more important things to worry about at the moment and he wanted to go back on the guard once he was ready. He was a warrior like the rest of the group. They had all become warriors. They had earned that title and he knew it. He turned to greet his friend and his leader.
"Hey, Bellamy. You made it!"
