I laugh because I've had Isaiah's fairy tale interest reasoning in my head for a couple days now and it still managed to sound similar-ish to Bellamy's reasoning for liking Roman myths. One might have thought that Isaiah would have been disappointed to hear that Bellamy hadn't read many fairy tales but all it did was make Isaiah excited because it meant it was something that he could share with Bellamy, something new but something that Isaiah could be almost sure Bellamy would enjoy. At least from what he had heard from Bellamy so far, that he held a liking for books and particularly mythology, Isaiah could confidently assume that Bellamy would find interest in hearing about fairy tales as well. The type that Isaiah liked. "I don't think I have a favourite one," Isaiah admitted, "I like the older ones, the original ones. I read the newer ones as a kid and then found a much older book when I was a bit older. They're darker but I find them more interesting, more realistic." He shrugged, sort of unsure whether he explained it well but it was difficult to explain such a thing.
Isaiah was definitely enjoying the fact that Bellamy was lighting up on this topic and was obvious that they both shared quite a deep love for books and stories. In his life, Isaiah wasn't sure he had met someone who had ever seemed as excited as him about them. Sure, people got excited over particular books but the general topic of reading seemed to excite Bellamy and that was such a great thing for Isaiah to see. It definitely had him feeling more attracted to him, finding that strong similarity. "Nah, Dad works with food in the kitchen rather than in agriculture and Mom works in the library, restoring and keeping the books." He paused for a moment with a small laugh. "I was doomed to love books and food. Although, I guess being able to go outside doomed you to the life a guard also, right?"
The fact that Bellamy reacted to his hand made Isaiah completely aware of what he'd done. He glanced down at his hand on Bellamy's knee for a second before glancing back up at Bellamy's face. Bellamy had leaned in closer and Isaiah couldn't find himself wanting to complain. He guessed Bellamy could have been leaning towards him to hear better but Isaiah wasn't that blind to flirting, he knew that wasn't the reason. He listened to Bellamy explain what he liked about Roman mythology and found that he loved the reasoning. It was different to Isaiah's reasoning behind the fairy tales but maybe not as different as they seemed. Isaiah liked the realistic darkness of the old fairy tales, Bellamy the chaos of the Roman mythology. "That's interesting," Isaiah said, his tone completely sincere. "You're making me want to read more of it."
And it seemed that Bellamy wanted to read more fairy tales. Isaiah perked up a bit at that, excited by the fact and wanting to make sure he read the right ones. Isaiah had come across so many books of them and from so many different places. "I have my own books so if you wanted to borrow them to read..." he trailed off, putting the offer out there before he thought of an even better idea. He bit his lip and paused for a moment before he found himself able to say it. "Maybe we could even hang out sometime and read together?" The suggestion sounded a bit stupid to Isaiah although the actual thought of spending time with someone and just reading sounded great. They didn't even have to be only reading the whole time. That thought was probably what had him hesitating about suggesting it, feeling nervous.

my people MY RESPONSIBILITY Bellamy listened as Isaiah explain that he didn't have a favorite one, and then offer further detail about how he preferred the older ones. "Makes sense," Bellamy agreed. He could understand the appeal of that. "Nothing beats the classics, I guess," he said with a smile. As Bellamy had previously stated, his knowledge of them was limited. But if Isaiah preferred the older ones, then perhaps those were the ones that Bellamy would try first. As Isaiah explained his parents occupations, a smile remained on Bellamy's lips. He didn't fail to notice the present tense Isaiah used. For that, Bellamy was relieved. That his parents were alive, and that a potentially upsetting subject had not been broached. "Both are good things to be doomed to," Bellamy teased, in response to Isaiah's remark about being doomed to food and books.
"Best of both worlds. Good food and good reads." With others unable to go outsie, people needed all kinds of outlets to prevent themselves from going stir crazy. Books were a great one; a wonderful form of escapism. "I guess so," Bellamy said with a slight smile. Though, he couldn't take for granted being able to go outside, knowing that others so desperately wanted that for themselves. His former home on the Ark . . . well, he knew the feeling of not being able to go out. They too had been confined to a particular space. "But I can't complain," he added on. "I just hope that one day, everyone else will have that opportunity." To go out. Dante had told him that in all his years, he'd only been out once. Bellamy's heart ached for his father of heart, knowing how much he had wanted that for not only himself, but for his people too.
The smile returned with ease as the conversation moved along, Isaiah expressing interest in reading some of the Roman books that he enjoyed. It was his offer that made Bellamy's smile soften a little, hardly missing the invitation to another potential date. Bellamy's hand went to Isaiah's that was on his knee, and placed his hand over the younger male's. As if to reassure him, to help him remain confident in his words. "You know, that sounds pretty damn good," Bellamy agreed, genuinely meaning the words. "You bring some of your favorites, I'll bring some of mine," he told him. That way, they could get to know each other in terms of what they liked to read.
"Sounds nice," he added on. Relaxing. And a way to get to know Isaiah in private, rather than a public setting such as this one. Not even having realized he was just gazing at Isaiah, Bellamy's focus was broken when he heard his friends name announced on stage. It promptly caused Bellamy to turn his head, his hand slowly leaving Isaiah's and feeling the immediate deprivation. Part of him already wanted to touch him more . . . but there were a lot of other people around. And it was best his mind not start wandering in that direction, unsure of where Isaiah's head was at.

The way that Bellamy's smile faltered a bit at the mention of him being able to go outside had not been Isaiah intention. Not at all. The reply he got from Bellamy was a bit sobering, tapping into the fact that no one else could leave. That was definitely one of the most sensitive topic for Mount Weather and Isaiah wasn't immune to dream of one day being able to go outside. Everyone got stir crazy from time to time inside the mountain, Isaiah could probably track back all his sneaking around as a kid to that. It could be difficult to live in a place with such strict boundaries and no hope of ever going out of them. Then, it was what Isaiah was born into and he tried to never let it get him down. Things were as best as they could be inside Mount Weather and Isaiah appreciated the chance of life that they had there. "Yeah, one day maybe," Isaiah said with a shrug, not letting his own smile drop.
Isaiah was definitely happy that the topic didn't seem to bring Bellamy down completely. His smile returned strong and the hand on Bellamy's knee became a source of attention after the suggestion Isaiah gave of reading together. Isaiah's smile grew when Bellamy's hand sat on top of his and he turned his hand over to lightly wrap his fingers around Bellamy's hand. The small amount of contact had Isaiah's heart speed up slightly. The fact that Bellamy liked his suggestion just made him feel even better. Isaiah was becoming more hopeful about Bellamy, knowing that they held things in common, that they seemed to get along, that he was definitely good-looking. There was no denying that it was a date Isaiah was on and there was no denying the fact that he now wanted many more to follow.
"Sounds like a date," Isaiah said, a little more confidence in his voice as he said it. A silence followed but it was comfortable and Isaiah held no want to break it. Bellamy's gaze stayed on him and he kept his own eyes on Bellamy. That made it completely obvious when Bellamy suddenly turned away. Isaiah followed his gaze to the stage and took a guess that his friend was now up to perform. Bellamy's hand also left Isaiah's. The warmth that his hand had provided was gone and Isaiah found his hand almost feeling cold. He wanted to reach out and take Bellamy's hand again but that felt too eager so he didn't, just turned his body slightly to have a better view of the stage. "Your friend up there then?" he asked Bellamy.
The performance started and Isaiah had to admit they weren't bad, although none of the stuff he'd heard so far in the background of his conversation with Bellamy had sounded particularly bad. Isaiah found himself wanting to speak a couple times yet stopping himself, wanting to allow Bellamy to watch his friend. He did shuffle in his chair a bit to position himself closer to Bellamy, sort of hoping that it might initiate contact of some kind. His gaze definitely didn't stay on the stage, wandering over to Bellamy enough times that it would have been obvious. "They're good," Isaiah did say, a smile still on his face. He wasn't sure he could do anything but smile now with Bellamy. Isaiah felt happy and comfortable there with him. |

my people MY RESPONSIBILITY A date. Even though Bellamy knew that this was what it technically was, and Isaiah's words were almost a saying . . . he couldn't deny the thrill that shot through him over the idea of another date with Isaiah. A planned one. One where it was just the both of them. Doing something like reading together, which, to Bellamy was far more intimate than many other things. He found himself anticipating it, already having something to look forward to and almost wanting to blurt out a day to pick to make sure that it actually happened. And that it didn't just remain a fleeting, non committal plan. When Isaiah questioned if that was his friend up there, Bellamy gave a small nod.
"Yeah," he confirmed, though he wasn't as focused as he should be on the stage, his mind already wandering somewhere else. Feeling rather than seeing Isaiah shift closer to Bellamy, the older male kept his gaze forward on his friend's incredible performance. He however did reach over for Isaiah's hand, casually holding it, as if it were no big deal. The return of the contact, warming Bellamy's entire body. He was a person who craved human contact, who enjoyed holding someone after being intimate, the contact of hugs, of embraces, of so many things.
Right now, he was craving the feeling of touching Isaiah, even in this entirely innocent way. As if it was no big deal; as if they did this so often. It felt completely natural, and comfortable. With his hand still held in his, Bellamy smiled at his date's praise for his friend. "I'm sure they'll be glad to hear it," he told him. When the song drew to an end, everyone applauded, though Bellamy wasn't sure he was ready to give up the contact with Isaiah just yet. "Wanna get out of here?" He asked, turning his head to look at the beautiful male next to him.

Iah can be adorable haha
The lack of contact didn't last long. Isaiah's fingers wrapped around Bellamy's as the warmth he had lost before returned. It felt so normal and so natural to be holding Bellamy's hand, like their hands were made to hold each others, but at the same time it felt exciting and new. The simple act of holding someone's hand was something he hadn't done in a while. He had forgotten how nice a feeling it was. He had probably forgotten how nice other things could be as well but...he definitely knew he wanted to touch Bellamy more. At the very least, Isaiah was going to take advantage of their held hands and he wasn't planning on letting go any time soon. Even when the song ended, neither of them made the move to let go so they could clap. Isaiah clapped his free hand against his leg in an attempt at clapping. That was good enough. He even looked up at the stage long enough to memorise the faces, thinking that he might find them later to tell them that he'd liked their song but he wouldn't do that yet, more likely another day.
His attention was brought back to Bellamy when he spoke, the words causing his heart to sink a little before he realised that Bellamy was talking about them leaving together. Oh, that was a...well, Isaiah wasn't exactly sure how to view it. He could view it one way, especially with Bellamy looking at him and the feeling of his warm hand. Even thinking back to their earlier conversation, to Isaiah's flirted offer, he could definitely view it one way but he didn't know if he wanted to view it that way. Anyway, Bellamy was probably meaning his words a lot more innocently than Isaiah was taking them. Still, he couldn't help squeezing Bellamy's hand lightly and teasing him. "Want to hear me sing now, huh?" His voice came out a lot more confidently than he expected it would. He was happy about that, not really liking how little confidence his flirting could hold. He shifted in his chair so he was more facing Bellamy rather than the stage. |

my people MY RESPONSIBILITY Bellamy couldn't help but smirk a little, a slight chuckle escaping his lips when Isaiah commented about wanting to hear him sing. The suggestiveness in the words not missed, as the conversation of hearing him sing was linked to showering. Though, he couldn't confidently say that was what Isaiah had meant. Nor would be place the burden of pressure. Quite frankly, he was content to just spend some time alone with the man, and let things happen as they may. Naturally. Without pressured expectation.
"Maybe I do," he teased in return. "You made it sound pretty damn good," he further commented. Glancing at the crowd once more he turned back to Isaiah, slowly rising to his feet, his hand still holding the other male's. But now, their angle was different as Bellamy looked down at him while standing, and the other was still sitting. Bellamy wasn't kidding when he had offered to get out fo here. "But if you need to warm up your vocal chords first, I can definitely help with that," he playfully remarked, flirtation in his tease.

BELLIAH!!! Isaiah smirked at Bellamy's returning tease, locking eyes with the other male. While there was completely no intention in Isaiah to actually sing, he really did like the idea of getting out of there and to somewhere less public and crowded. That was what Bellamy was offering, to get out of there. There was no reason for Isaiah to turn that offer down and no reason to cut their night short. They both wanted to spend more time together. When Bellamy stood up, Isaiah didn't follow his lead right away. He stayed seated while his eyes took advantage of the situation, wandering over Bellamy's body for the moment when he was standing and quickly moving back to his face once he had straightened.
Isaiah laughed softly at Bellamy's offer, standing up himelf then and taking the smallest of steps closer to Bellamy. His heart sped up slightly in his chest, whether from the closeness or the words he was about to say, he wasn't sure. "I wouldn't want to turn down that offer," Isaiah said, his gaze flicking down to Bellamy's lips before slowly moving back up to his eyes. He noticed the sprinkling of freckles on Bellamy's cheeks and on his nose. They looked cute on him and gave a hint into the fact that he had spent time outside under real sunlight, rather than just in the electrical lighting of Mount Weather. Isaiah held back the want to run his fingertips over them or to tell Bellamy just how beautiful he found them. They added to the beauty that Isaiah had already noticed in the other man. "Where are we going?" he asked instead. |

my people MY RESPONSIBILITY Bellamy felt relief when Isaiah confirmed that he didn't want to turn down that offer. Despite the fact that everything had been going incredibly well tonight, and Isaiah's body language and words indicated that he would not be opposed to leaving with Bellamy . . . he still felt that relief and thrill of it being mutual. And that he wasn't pressuring Isaiah. Not with the way he was looking at him. That intent gaze, causing Bellamy to return it, his eyes staring deeply into the deep brown ones of the male before him.
Suddenly, it felt like they really were alone. It seemed so easy to drown out the sounds of the public area. Bellamy took notice of Isaiah's eyes a little downcast to his lips and instinctively, Bellamy ran his tongue over them. To what . . . tempt him, perhaps? To moist the sudden dryness he felt? Whatever the reason, the compulsion to close the distance was stronger than it ever had been before.
Fortunately, Isaiah's words snapped him out of it, and Bellamy smiled instead as he moved alongside his date for the night to leave the area. "Wherever you want," he offered, leaving it open. "We can go to your place or mine," Bellamy offered, unsure if Isaiah lived with family. "Or somewhere else you like going in this place?" Either way, so long as he was in Isaiah's company. That was all that seemed to matter tonight.

Notes here. The tension in the air around them was becoming extremely obvious. Even in the crowd, it felt so much like the two of them were alone and that was only making it more difficult for Isaiah to keep his hands, and his lips, to himself. Bellamy's lips were tempting after all, why else would Isaiah have felt the pull to look down at them? All made more tempting by the way Bellamy's tongue had moved over them in reply to his gaze. Isaiah could only imagine how they would feel against his own. Thankfully, both of them seemed to have enough control to not break that space between them. Although Isaiah didn't know whether to be happy about that or not as they began to move towards the exit of the room. He did want to kiss Bellamy but doing it in such a public place wouldn't make it the best experience. They were leaving to go somewhere alone together.
The moment just missed would come up again. That was for sure. And even if it didn't, Isaiah was loving every second he got to spend with Bellamy and he would be just as happy doing anything with the other male as long as they were together. The offer of going to Bellamy's place, of seeing what his apartment looked like was an offer that Isaiah didn't think he could resist. His own place could have worked as well, knowing Isaiah had been lucky enough to get a place of his own but he knew where he wanted to go. "Your place?" he both answered and asked, wanting to be sure that Bellamy was fine with that. He couldn't imagine that Bellamy wouldn't have a place of his own, so at least other people being there wasn't something that needed to be thought about. |

my people MY RESPONSIBILITY Bellamy gave a small nod when Isaiah confirmed that they could go to his place. Both a question and a statement, but Bellamy hoped t he action confirmed that he was quite alright with that. It would grant them the necessary privacy to just . . . be together. Whatever that entailed. It was an opportunity to better get to know each other, or more. Bellamy of course wasn't opposed to either. Making his way down the halls, leading them to his home, Bellamy filled the silence. "Do you live alone?" He asked, wondering whether he was with his parents, or if he had roommates, which was sometimes the case with their limited housing. Though either way, everyone lived rather comfortably within the large facility.
Bellamy often compared the sizes of this and the Ark. Though one a far more distance memory; a memory he would not dwell on right now. Once they reached his place, he unlocked the door and allowed Isaiah to enter first before he followed, closing it behind him. "I do, by the way," he said, revealing his own answer to the previously asked question. "So we don't have to worry about anyone coming in." No interruptions or anything. "Make yourself at home," he offered, referring to the couches and chairs in the main room, his bedroom in another and a bathroom of course. He hadn't needed a large room, but he knew that Dante had given him a nice once, considering their close relationship. Something that Bellamy was quite grateful for.

Notes here. Isaiah was going home with Bellamy. The thought left him feeling both excited and nervous. Just being in privacy with Bellamy was an exciting thought, of getting to know him without the distractions of others around them and different things happening. It would be quiet and distraction-free. Isaiah was excited for that, definitely. There was also other things that the privacy could lead to, things Isaiah couldn't say he wouldn't be happy about. Bellamy's question pulled him out of his own mind and thoughts, and Isaiah smiled up at Bellamy for a moment before answering. "I do," he said, giving a small nod. "Had a roommate for a bit but they were a light sleeper and couldn't deal with me getting up early for work." He chuckled softly, still finding a lot of humor in the fact the guy had gone to the effort of finding another roommate. Isaiah had gotten a small place to himself from there on.
They arrived at Bellamy's place then. Isaiah walked into the apartment when it was unlocked, his eyes automatically sweeping over the room and taking in what it looked like. The apartment was definitely a lot larger than Isaiah's but still managed to look extremely cosy. Bellamy's confirmation that he lived alone with met with a smile from Isaiah. It was something he had expected from what he knew about Bellamy but it was definitely good to get that confirmation and to know for sure that they wouldn't be interrupted. Assuming whatever they did would cause a need for privacy. Isaiah walked over to a couch, sitting down at one end of it with the intent that Bellamy would sit next to him. "Nice place," he said but found himself a little lost on what else to say now that they were there in his place. |

my people MY RESPONSIBILITY Bellamy had smiled with amusement when Isaiah revealed that he had a roommate but moved out because of Isaiah's hours. "What did they do that let them sleep a bit later?" Bellamy asked. Most everyone had some sort of job here; contributing to Mount Weather as some sort of productive citizen of their society. Students, workers, there was a variety of possibilities. He watched Isaiah take a seat on the couch and joined him, sitting on the other side. His body was turned toward the male, relaxed, finding it incredibly comfortable to be sitting here on the couch with Isaiah.
Looking over the man he had asked out to see if that feeling of comfort and ease was mutual. "Thanks," he said politely with a smile. This apartment was certainly bigger than what he had on the Ark . . . but was less of a home. He shouldn't complain however, Dante had given him a lot and within Mount Weather, he had created his own family of sorts. A family of heart. "Did you want some water or anything?" Bellamy offered, figuring he should probably a good host for his guest. He did after all want Isaiah to be comfortable. "Thanks for coming out tonight by the way. Glad I got to see the non working Isaiah," he teased. The non stressed out side to him . . . as it made Bellamy not feel as guilty with how he'd felt making him cry before.

Notes here. Isaiah enjoyed seeing the amused smile on Bellamy's face. "Teacher. They didn't get up too much later than me but didn't appreciate losing that last part of their sleep." He laughed again with that answer, shaking his head a bit. "I don't mind living alone," he added on, wanting to be sure Bellamy didn't take things the wrong way. Some people might have been sad to lose a roommate and while it was nice sometimes to have that person to talk to in the morning and in the evenings, they hadn't been the closest and Isaiah liked having his privacy.
When Bellamy sat down on the couch next to him, Isaiah was glad and turned his body so he was looking at Bellamy. There was definitely a sense of normality in sitting there together that Isaiah appreciated. He didn't feel awkward or nervous, even though he still wasn't completely sure what he could say. Isaiah appreciated the offer, the way Bellamy was being polite but he didn't particularly want Bellamy to stand up and move away to go get that water. He wanted Bellamy closer to him, if he were to be completely honest. Although there was no way he would say that out loud. "No thanks," he simply said. His smile only became brighter when Bellamy spoke again.
"Thanks for inviting me," he replied, complete sincerity in his voice. It was so nice seeing this side of Bellamy and getting to spend time with him. "And I'm glad I got to see the non-working Bellamy," he teased back. He shifted on the couch a bit, moving a bit closer to Bellamy. He tried to make it so the movement wasn't too obvious but he wasn't sure that he managed that well. "The non-working Bellamy is a lot more fun." Particularly because he was doing anything but making Isaiah cry. He was making him smile and...making his heart beat faster in a way that felt good not bad. His impression of Bellamy had completely back flipped from earlier when they had met during working hours, from one of fear to one of attraction. |

my people MY RESPONSIBILITY Bellamy smiled listening Isaiah's answer to his question. A teacher. He didn't seem upset by it so Bellamy was glad that he hadn't brought up a sore subject for the man. "It has its perks," Bellamy agreed when it came to living alone. In this place, it definitely worked for him. But that didn't mean his heart didn't crave a family. Companionship. "It was my pleasure." Inviting him out had turned out to be a great decision. The chemistry that seemed to have effortlessly intensified between them, undeniable. Bellamy smiled, a slight chuckle falling from his lips as Isaiah returned the sentiment. "Glad he's not a dud," Bellamy further teased, referring to himself of course in a joking manner.
Noticing that Isaiah shifted a little closer, Bellamy decided to do the same, inching more toward the man sitting next to him on the couch. The one he already had a second date planned out with. "And the non working Isaiah is a lot more confident," he said, meaning it as a compliment of course. Though Bellamy knew that it was the situation that had stressed Isaiah out. He was just playfully teasing him, hoping the smile on his lips was indicating of that. "Although," he continued to say, his hand reaching out to Isaiah as his fingers slowly trailed up his arm to his shoulder. "I'm curious to see just how confident he really is. or can be," Bellamy added on, the same playful smirk on his features. A challenge . . . their close proximity making it fairly obvious in what sense Bellamy meant.

69TH POST Isaiah definitely knew that living alone had its perks. The fact that him and Bellamy could go to either of their places together and know that they were getting privacy was one of those perks and the one that Isaiah was most thankful for right then. Isaiah grinned at Bellamy's comment. No, he wasn't a dud at all. Isaiah had yet to find anything boring or overly negative about Bellamy and he couldn't imagine he would. At this stage, Bellamy did seem perfect and Isaiah couldn't help but want to be closer to him. It wasn't just everything he had seen of Bellamy and learnt about him but, as cheesy as it could sound, Isaiah felt like there was a connection and that there was something pulling him towards Bellamy. It had grown in their time together and now it was becoming difficult to ignore.
As Bellamy followed Isaiah's lead by moving closer, Isaiah couldn't help but have his gaze flick down to Bellamy's lip again. Almost by instinct. It might have stayed at Bellamy's lips had he not spoken again, causing Isaiah's eyes to lock with Bellamy's again as a smirk settled onto his lips. There was a part of him that felt anything but confident, if he were to be completely honest with himself but he had managed to keep enough confidence in their date for that to not show. The flirting and teasing had come with an extra push from himself and a step right outside of Isaiah's comfort zone. To hear that Bellamy saw him as confident was, well, a confidence booster and had him wanting to prove more that he was.
Bellamy opened up that opportunity for Isaiah, clear as day as he challenge him. How confident was Isaiah? How confident could he be? The fingers trailing up his arm left trails of warm in their wake. They were comforting in one way but in another, that warmth could be felt like little sparks ready to turn into a flame. Isaiah's gaze yet again flicked down to rest on Bellamy's lips and he leaned forward to break some of the space between them. His heart may have felt like it was beating fast before but now it was like a drum, music to accompany the dance that Isaiah was moving to begin. Closer to Bellamy now and still moving closer, Isaiah's eyes met Bellamy's again, as if checking to make sure he had read the situation right before his eyelids shut and his lips met with Bellamy's own. |
