she is like a daughter to me
Marcus's body hurt everywhere. He watched as everyone was gathering, and wished he was a bit younger. If he had to die in a few months, he would like to see Earth first. But duty came before what he personally wanted; and he was getting old. He grinned to himself in an almost bitter sweet manner. Yes, he was getting old. He had lived a good life though, with limited regrets. Not being closer to his mother. Not having children. Though he took pride in the younger ones that he had the honor of knowing. Bellamy Blake was like a son to him, and he still worried about that one every day. He had a lot on him, and Marcus hated asking for more, but there was not many who would see this done to the extent that he would. Then there was Lilly. He had known her most of her life, and he thought of her like a daughter sometimes. There was a parental protectiveness over both Blake and Lilly.
Standing near the throne as everyone was coming in to hear the orders, and the plan, Marcus found himself looking at his two almost children. He was glad that Bellamy would be traveling with Kyle and Jackson. Kyle had asked to be placed with Blake, and Marcus had allowed it because he wanted Bellamy to have support. Kane had purposely not placed Echo in that group, because he didn't want Bellamy to have to face her again. Echo would be traveling as Lilly's scout, and he would have a word with her first, and make sure she understood what had happened, so she could make better choices.
No one knew their groupings yet, except for Kyle who'd made the request, so Marcus was still toying with the idea of putting Roan with Clarke or Bellamy. Bellamy would be more objective, but Clarke had worked with him before when she escaped Polis. He was staring at the Ice King, thinking about things in his head, when he heard another walking up and he looked over to meet the gaze of a grounder.
