This is my Fight Song--TAKE BACK MY LIFE SONG, PROVE I'M ALRIGHT SONGThere was no response about the "Because you're Harper" comment nor any reply to Harper's question about if she knew how to even look after the animal. The first lack of response, fine, Harper could deal with that. She had a feeling Clarke feeling thinking straight, that at the least she was feeling desperate...and as much as Harper felt angry, she could understand that. There was so many times when Harper had felt desperate in her life, sometimes she felt like she was always desperate for something, for her parents to love her, to keep her life, to have some sort of normal, relaxing life... Harper would do anything for something she was desperate about. That's why she was a guard now, something she honestly hadn't ever thought about becoming when she was on the Ark. Ever.
Still, Harper couldn't let the question about the kitten just go. It was a living thing that Clarke wanted to look after and Harper had no idea how she was going to do that. All Harper knew was that she would rather deal with a Grounder army than that kitten. "Well, do you know how to look after the kitten?" she asked, a hint of impatience in her voice. At least Clarke sounded willing to tell other people that she was there though. That was something. A piece of hope. That she didn't expect Harper to hide her and the kitten and pretend that she wasn't there. Harper couldn't have done that and she couldn't be Clarke's main line of support. She was just Harper. She wasn't some magic worker who could heal Clarke of everything. "Look, I'll...I'll do whatever I can to help you but you have to get other help too. And you have to be honest with me. No lies, no avoidance." Clarke Griffin || That poor kitty XD Has no idea what it's sitting between! |

Clarke knew a few things about taking care of small animals and humans. The kitten couldn’t be much different from back in the past. She knew it was similar to human babies most of the time, so she guessed with enough time and resources she could cook something up to keep the kitten alive. If it could survive outside was another question. But that was not her problem right now. “I think I have an idea. It needs milk. Warmth, later on solid foods.” Synthetic, with enough nutrition to take care of the little one. Clarke looked at it. They could maybe offer it other food soon, too. It wasn’t as small as she would expect a newborn to be. The eyes were open and wide and it was already all for exploring this world.
“Harper – I won’t lie. Which is why I can’t promise you not to avoid topics. There’s… things I can’t even admit to myself yet.” But she would tell her. She would not leave her hanging. She couldn’t lie about this. She had to tell her that. “There is.. I will tell you when that is the case.” But what if that was not enough for her. “I will tell you why and when as much as I can.” She hoped she could. She hoped it would be enough. @harpermcintyre

This is my Fight Song--TAKE BACK MY LIFE SONG, PROVE I'M ALRIGHT SONGHarper was glad to hear Clarke finally give her some sort of solid answer as to how she expected to look after the cat. Milk, solids and warmth. It made sense to Harper, in a basic sense, and Harper hoped that Clarke was right, only for the fact that a hungry animal around camp was the last thing that they needed. Harper would not be able to deal with that, if she could hardly deal with a non-life threatening kitten being anywhere near her. There was a chance she might be able to get used to that at least, that maybe she would want to hold the kitten or be near it, but she would never be happy about a big hungry animal with sharp claws and teeth. "Okay, at least you have an idea what you're getting into," Harper said, a shrug in her shoulders as she said it and her gaze moving between the kitten and Clarke.
When Clarke spoke again, addressing Harper's request for her not to lie, Harper's face dropped. It was good. At least, it was good that Clarke didn't want to lie to Harper. But Harper found herself frustrated that Clarke still wanted to avoid topics. Maybe her annoyance was unfair but it was still there. Maybe it was still left over from all the anger and annoyance and everything she had been feeling from the second she laid eyes on Clarke in her room but it was still there. "How can I trust that you're going to tell me the truth when you're avoiding things?" Harper asked, speaking instead of letting herself think over her words first. "I want to be able to trust you but..." You still left. Like always. You left. Harper stood up then, her body feeling stiff as she stretched it. She grabbed a bottle of water from up on a small table and a bowl from when she had eaten in her room. Filling it up with water, she placed it down near Clarke. Better to keep the kitten happy. |
