We've been conditioned to not make mistakes Callie was nervous, but she couldn't show it. She had adjusted her shirt multiple times as she gave herself a little pep talk under her breath. Today, she would be joining the council. She had done her research to see who else was on it. She liekd to be prepared. She had dedicated her life to this moment, knowing what she wanted. Starting as a guard, moving to the more political angle. She wanted to be the communications liaison for the council. But today, was her very first day where she would be seeing the others . . . and seeing the Chancellor.
Taking a deep breath she finally exited her apartment, her tablet in hand. As she had previously acknowledged, she liked to be prepared. She swallowed down her nerves, needing to be appear calm, confident, and poised. Once arriving she saw another new member of the council, one that she instantly recognized. Most everyone knew her for she was a highly respected and prestigious doctor. Callie had the utmost respect and admiration for the woman. And that was just it: she was a fellow woman. Which caused her to naturally gravitate toward Abigail.
"Doctor Griffin," she said formally with a polite smile, extending her hand to her. "My name is Callie Cartwig. It is a pleasure to meet you." She had heard only the best things about her, and quite honestly, it was good to see another woman in a male dominated environment like the council was. It was just the way of the Ark where they worked hard to be in that position. But Abby, she hoped, was someone that she had some things in common with. And either way, it truly was a pleasure to meet her.

Life on the Ark was truly looking up for Abigail Griffin. She had a good career going for her. From a young age, she had known that she wanted to pursue a career in medicine and she had studied hard in order to achieve that dream. It had quickly paid off as she excelled in all her medical classes and graduated at the top of her class. She had then immediately pursued her career of being a doctor, starting out as a medical assistant and quickly moving up in the ranks. The young doctorate major had risen up in the ranks in record time, becoming the Chief Medical Officer on the Ark by the time she hit her late twenties, which had been a major record in her time. Now, she was the one in charge. The one giving the orders. She had quickly become one of the most respected women on the Ark thanks to her genuine kindness and ability to help and heal people. Not only did she have an amazing career, but she also had a wonderful family as well. There was her husband, Jake who she had been with for almost 20 years now and they both had a beautiful daughter named Clarke who was their entire world. Jake was the Head Engineer on the Ark and one of the most respected men on the Ark. Their survival was vastly due to him and his work. He was extremely intelligent, but also very kind and she loved him very much. Clarke was her shining star. Beautiful and smart. Abby quickly took Clarke underneath her wing and taught her some basic medical maneuvers so that she would be able to help people in the future as well. She was living the good life. Well, as good as anyone on the Ark possibly could.
Then one day, she had received the surprise of her life. Chancellor Jaha had offered her a seat on the council. Initially, she had met him through her husband Jake. The two men were close friends and spent most of their free time hanging out together. Also, Clarke and his son Wells hung out together a lot as well. They had become fast friends, mainly because of his relationship with Jake, but it went beyond that. She had even voted for him to be Chancellor of the Ark. Thelonious was a good man. He had a good heart and he genuinely cared for people. He was one of those inspirational types of people who could motivate people with his words. That was what they all needed here. Someone to inspire them and give them hope, and Thelonious Jaha could do that. If anyone could lead them and ensure their survival up here, it was him. She had developed a high respect for him, not just as Chancellor, but also as a really good friend as well. He seemed to respect her as well, both as a doctor and a friend. But still, despite their close friendship, she had been in shock when he came to her one day and asked if she would like to be a member of the council. He had come to her while she had been working and pulled her aside. Then he had gave this really long speech about everything she had accomplished on the Ark before finally springing upon her the question. At first, she had had no idea what to say. Only the highest ranking people were offered a seat on the council. Abby didn't delve all that much into politics, but she had voted for Jaha to be Chancellor. Being a Councillor was a huge responsibility. They were the ones who made all the tough decisions when it came to the survival of the human race. The laws. It was their own form of government and it was most definitely a huge step up from where she currently was. Being the Chief Medical Officer on the Ark was amazing and it was what she had always wanted, but being a member of the council was so much bigger than that. It was an honor that not many people got to experience. Only the most respected people on the Ark were offered a seat on the council. Of course, she felt honored to be considered as such and after some thinking, she had accepted his offer to be a part of the council.
Today was her very first day as an official member of the council and this would be her very first meeting as a council member. Abby was feeling a bit nervous, but only slightly. Mostly though, she felt excited. Being a member of the council was a great honor and she was very happy to be one of the fortunate few. This was a huge step up from where she already was. She would be able to listen in on council meetings and offer her input on their current situation, as well as things concerning the survival of their people. Naturally, Abby had done her research before deciding to join the council. She always liked to be prepared and know certain things ahead of time, such as who the other members of the council were. The name Callie Cartwig popped out at her. She had heard a little bit about her. Callie had been apart of the guard and she was supposedly very smart. A very respected young woman like herself. It would be nice to have another woman on the council with her. The council had been male dominant for a long time, but things were different now. Not that Abby couldn't hold her own surrounded by a bunch of men, she could, but it would be nice to have another woman to connect with. Someone who might understand her point of view on things in a way that a man couldn't. She had yet to meet the other woman though and was looking forward to doing so.
Exiting her home, Abby made her way to the council room where the meeting would be held. As she walked, her demeanor was one of confidence. Calm, cool and collected. She was ready for this. Plus, the fact that she knew and was very good friends with the Chancellor gave her a slight edge. Most everyone on the Ark knew who she was and respected her, so she had nothing to worry about. Approaching the doorway that would lead directly into the council room, Doctor Griffin suddenly heard someone call out to her as she was preparing to walk through the door. She turned towards the voice and a smile slowly made it's way onto her lips as her gaze fell on another woman. Callie Cartwig. The other woman quickly introduced herself and Abby reached out her hand and clasped the young woman's hand in her own, giving it a light, friendly shake. "It is a pleasure to meet you as well, Callie. You can call me Abby. I've heard great things about you." She said, regarding Callie with a warm smile as she slowly released the other woman's hand. "It's nice to see another woman joining the council as well." Already, Doctor Griffin liked this woman. She was kind, respectful, and a hard working woman just like she was. Both of them knew what they wanted and they strived to get what they wanted. There weren't very many high ranking women on the Ark, never had been. Men had always dominated the ranks, but Abby had worked extremely hard to get to where she was today and she was proud of the things she had accomplished in her life. It seemed to be the same way for Callie as well. She had a feeling that the two of them would become very fast friends.
