We've been conditioned to not make mistakes Callie hadn't meant to fall asleep, but exhaustion had consumed her. She woke up slowly, before abruptly sitting up, wondering how long she had been out for. People had somewhat assigned rooms in the fallen Ark, but things were still getting assembled. That was not what worried her right now though. Her daughter was still missing, along with the rest of the delinquents they had sent to the ground. She shouldn't have fallen asleep. What if there was news?
What if she had missed something important? Callie quickly got out of her makeshift bed and ran her hands through her hair while straightening out her shirt as she stepped out into the halls of the Ark. She needed to find either Abby ro Kane, for either of them would be able to inform her of what was happening. Preferably Kane, as he was Chancellor. As luck would have it, she saw him once she stepped outside, conversing with someone else.
It was night but there was still much activity as people were adjusting and getting set up, trying to make this place function. When the person began to walk away, Callie took the opportunity to speak to him alone; that brief moment that she could get with him. "Any news?" She asked, her eyes filled with hope . . . but she also knew, deep deep down that it was unlikely.

There was a storm coming. Marcus wanted to be out there looking for the kids, but with the storm approaching he knew they were safer here. Not only because it could get them lost, but because the locals were dangerous. Still, all the kids were missing. Over 40 of them. He was debating on trying to go out there, but after talking with Sinclair he had ordered the men to withdrawal to the Ark, for it to be sealed, and everyone to wait. They could prepare weapons while they waited. One thing he was dreading was telling the parents that they wouldn't be going directly out.
Which was why when he heard Callie's voice he paused before turning around. Marcus walked toward her and came to a slow rest near Callie. He hated to do this to her, but he had to think of the whole group. "No word. Sinclair says there is large storm coming, and we are pulling the men back for now. Once it has past we will go back out there and find them." Marcus hesitated for a second before reaching out to touch her shoulder. He had to be the strong unyielding one right now for the people, but he couldn't be authoritative with her. "I promise we will not stop looking for them. I will not stop looking for her." He was fond of Lily, and he wasn't just doing that for Callie; but he wanted her to know that he would not stop until he found her daughter. "We have reason to believe they will be found alive." The fact that there was no blood and bodies. The man that had tried to take Blake and Collins had been taking them to see their leader, so that should be where the kids were.

We've been conditioned to not make mistakes Callie knew it was a long shot, and that she shouldn't get her hopes up . . . but she had. And felt that painful disappointment when no news had been reached. In fact, her worry only grew now knowing that a storm was coming and her daughter and the others were out there somewhere. Potentially unprotected. Callie felt a tear slip from her eyes, trying to keep it in, but the emotional distress was getting to be too much.
It had been bad enough when they sent the kids down, but now knowing the kinds of dangers Earth truly entailed . . . not knowing that she was somewhere out there, and not being able to see her . . . it terrified Callie. She felt the comforting touch of Marcus' hand on her shoulder, and the comfort of his words promising they wouldn't stop looking. She raised her hand, gently resting it on top of Kane's as if she needed that further contact.
"I know you won't," she told him softly. She trusted him, emphatically. "I just . . . miss her so much." Another tear fell down her cheek, and she hated it, not wanting to appear weak but she held the emotions of a mother and those weren't so easily contained. "What reason is that?" She asked, needing to hear some good news right now. Needing further reason to cling onto hope because, it was all she had.

i never stopped loving you
Marcus saw another tear fall over her perfect face and he reached out to catch it with his fingers, before his hand paused there a moment to touch her soft skin. Moving down her cheek, his hand came to rest on her shoulder, and he pulled her into him to embarrass her. He was trying to give her the needed support to be strong for her daughter, because he knew that he could never understand how it felt to be missing a child--a regret that he often carried, and that Callie was aware that he had.
"We know they locked themselves in the dropship when the grounders attacked, and there are no bodies, nor signs that they fought after the fires were set. Where ever they went, there is a good chance that they went there willingly." It wasn't much but it was something they could have hope in. The children where out there somewhere, and alive. He wouldn't give up on them while there was a chance that the kids were there. His hand moved over Callie's back in a comforting rub, as he explained to her why he had hope. "They survived down here this long, they will find a way to do it a bit longer until we can get to them."
