Can somebody explain to me why so many fans that I've seen have so much hate? Reaction videos of YouTube most people are saying f-you to the show writers. I think it stems from episode 7. I won't say what happens but I'd love to hear what people think why so many people have so much hate for the 100 writing and such?

SO this is one of the most controversial issues going on within the fandom and I am going to sum it up in a nutshell! If you want more detail, let me know @montygreen ! BASICALLY, there are two main reasons that certain groups of the fandom are pissed. NOTE This post will contain spoilers about season 3. Lexa's Death: Groups of Lexa/Clexa fans are royally pissed off about her death. They claim that they have lost their representation and have started petitioning for the show to get canceled. They've contacted sponsers for the 100, sent death threats to Jroth, contacted certain cast members and attack them [i.e. tweeted racial slurs to Bob Morley ], spread hate throughout, etc etc! They are extremely pissed that Lexa died, claiming it is a trope. There was a podcast that Jason did after the episode saying that they didn't have a choice because Alycia was contracted to be on Fear The Walking Dead, however, he stepped down from Twitter shortly after due to fan threats and negativity about the show. They are angry that a lesbian character was killed off, and have been trying to petition for Clarke to get killed off as well, and for the show to ultimately get canceled. Some of the cast and celebrity fans have fought back, some have just stepped down from social networks and the issue completely due to all the negativity. Ricky Whittle: After Lincoln's death, Ricky did an interview claiming that he was bullied on the show and proceeded to call Jroth a monster, and this and that, talking negativtly about him and all this. Some fans are furious at Jroth's treatement of him, though we have only heard Ricky's side of the story as Jroth has not commented. This was the reason Lincoln was killed off, because Ricky wanted to leave the show since Season 2, but due to his contractual obligations, he couldn't. I can get the interview link if you want, but its a really harsh interview so consider yourself warned before watching it. I personally have very strong opinions about both issues, that I won't get into here. This is just the VERY BASIC gist of what happened, as there is a LOT more to the story!! But it was really Lexa's death that set a lot of people off the edge! I think its important to remember that the show has SO MUCH representation and that Lexa should not be remembered solely as a Lesbian character, but rather, a bad ass warrior -- said by Jason himself. Hope this helps give some idea of the shit storm in the fandom right now!! Let me know if you want any more details!! =)

A lot of the hate stems from unrealistic expectations from many sides. Here is just one tipp: Stay clear of people who actively join in the hate. You're safe here, people here are kind and awesome, but on other platforms, to say even a remote thing that could be interpreted negatively against one person can turn into a shitstorm against a person. You can easily be called really nasty things over apparently innocent matters. So to everyone: Stay clear, stay safe. We got you here. You're safe here.

I find that this is the safest place for true fans of the show. Shippers can be very passionate, and passion is valuable-- but it can also turn violent fast. I think what I hate the most is that you can't have a normal conversation with a lot of people about the show because of the violent hatred directed at the writers, and the idolization of characters.
SPOILERS FOLLOW After the death of Lexa fans seemed to split between people who understood her death and the reasons it had to happen, and the people who believed that she was killed off for whatever other reason and therefore Jason and the other writers made a mistake and exploited the lgbt community by making Lexa a dead lesbian trope. That's when the hate started, and speaking as a huge Lexa fan-- I think it's ridiculous. I think it's bullying. It's wrong, and it's upsetting. I think that the way people romanticize Lexa is insane and makes a lot of people blind to her flaws. Lexa was always a guest character. Without her death we wouldn't have moved forward in the plot and in my opinion it was beautiful. When people try to argue with me I get so frustrated... This place is a fantastic place to play Lexa without worrying about other people criticising the way I see her and play her. The members here are really fantastic-- but social media is dangerous lately, especially where Lexa and Lincoln are concerned... None of it was the fault of the writers, but passionately blind shippers struggle to see the bigger picture sometimes. It's as if you can't be a fan of a character if they die-- when as we've learned, in the 100 characters die all the time. The people here have always been fantastic though. I really think there is no safer place.

SPOILERS AHOY
The discussion of Lexas death is a HUGE factor in this. And I agree, it leads into bullying easily. Sadly bullies are loud. The thing with her death is: It's not a dead lesbian trope per say. It fits more into the bill: We kill everyone who's no longer useful to the story. With ADC it's even a bit different: She left the 100 for a hugely successful franchise, something nobody can blame her for and nobody on the show ever did. The production fought tooth and nail to get her to come back and spent several episodes actively foreshadowing her death. Her death was clearly written in episodes before Lexa died. It's a miracle they got her back to resolve her character and give her an ending. Thing is: Those loud ones, those haters, they wouldn't have been happy either way. Have Lexa be gone and just not reappear? It would have caused as much hatred for them not bringing her back.
For me the worst part is HOW ugly it got out there (cause out there is out of the happy board bubble we have here). People have published Rothenbergs address and threatened his child. People are calling sponsors of the show to try and get them to drop the show People are crying to get the 100 cancelled All of which hurts several other people severely.
First: Us fans who were aware that the 100 is no walk in the park and has collateral. And we know that the 100 speaks about issues in a way that's triggering, yes, but the issues can't and shouldn't be told with anything less of the severity with which they are told. And then the issue about sexuality, that still exists now, is a non-issue in the show, because Rothenberg has built a world, where it no longer matters what gender you love. It's never addressed or named in the show if you're gay, lesbian, bi or straight, because it didn't matter. I'd like to point to the episode 1 of season 3 reveal of Millers boyfriend: They mentioned it and nobody cared, because it is no longer an issue in this world. The issue was made in our world.
Second: The entire production team. They attack Rothenberg actively with words, yes, but there are a lot more people behind that. Makeup artist, FX artists, set dressers, designers, hell even just writing assistants or continuity managers, who had NO say in it, but by trying to get the show cancelled they threaten their JOBS!
Third: The actors. They actively attack actors over things they say. Like Bob Morely. He had a shitstorm coming over saying Lexa was a tyrant. The fact of the matter is: Lexa was a tyrant in the definition of the word, tyrant being one who reigns alone, not having to answer to anyone... which she did. He in no way implied the negative connotation that the haters saw in it and on top of it he argued from his characters point of view (not to mention he never excused Bellamys actions, but rather explained and expressed understanding of why people dislike him now) On top of attacking them, asking for the show to be cancelled would take their jobs away and in many cases might leave them with trouble finding another one, based on the way the industry works.
Fourth: ADC. They try to be her advocate, but it might ultimately hurt her. Because what show would dare to bring her on if this escalates even more and they violently attack any show daring to off her character in any way? If this repeats on Fear the Walking Dead ADC will have a hard time finding a show that would want her.
Fifth, and this is a potential one, not one I have proof of: Queer representation. They started their shitstorm in the name of queer representation. Lexa was one of the first if not the first queer character the 100 killed. It coincided with a queer character death on The Walking Dead, which caused a mild uproar that soon died down, due to those fans understanding the nature of the show, such as being: Zombies ain't gonna ask you if you're queer or straights, they'll nom you anyway. But if THIS is how the community reacts to queer characters being anything but immortal, I can see more inexperienced show runners shy away from introducing queer representation to protect themselves from the backlash. And it still works. The lack of queer representation on a show is not going to get one show cancelled thanks to the way the industry works
Last but not least, the one thing it does NOT damage:
The network. Because damn that is publicity!!! It's publicity they use and they are currently using it on the back of some actors. With the ratings up and the controversial discussion the show might even be easily carried into season 5.
All of THAT is a non issue here. We have fans of Lexa who understand why others don't like her *points to Lexa as prime example*. We have fans who don't like Lexa, who love to explore parts with her anyway. We have fans of controversial characters. We have people who love AUs, we have characters that dislike the way their characters were portrayed this season and AU it a bit. We have lively discussion (lots of them happening in PMs), but the thing we have not is: HATE Hate has no place here. We can discuss and give our opinion, but at the end of the day if we disagree, we agree to disagree and continue playing together. At the end of the day we care about the people behind the screen here more than their like for a character. At the end of the day: WE PREFER LOVE OF ANY FORM OVER HATRED!!!
And that's how it should be!!!!
