(This thread takes place at the end of Murphy's Law.) Charlotte felt surprisingly at peace as the wind rushed next to her as she fell off the cliff. She felt she had made the right choice. It was serene, something that hadn't happened in a while. That was until she felt the hard impact of the ground. She landed on her side, and couldn't breath, not even to scream when she felt some of her ribs break. She finally caught her breath, and tried to stand up. She gasped and silent tears started to fall as her leg collapsed under her, broken. She felt around the small ledge, until she found a slight incline. Her face started to bleed as she used her arms to pull herself up the slope, cutting herself on rocks as she did so. After what seemed like hours, the sweet smelling grass leveled out. She pulled herself up into a sitting position, and leaned against the side of a medium sized oak. She sighed, not knowing what to do. She knew Clarke could help with her injuries, but she couldn't go back to camp. She could try and heal them herself, but she would probably only make them worse. At least she had the knife Bellamy gave her since she had used Murphy's to kill Wells. She felt slightly sad about that, but the nightmares were gone. At least, they had been last time she slept. Speaking of sleep, her eyelids started to droop and she was soon fast asleep, nightmare free. When she awoke, her soreness and pain distracted her from the sight right in front of her. She groaned, and was about to position herself in a more comfortable way when she froze. A silhouette was standing over her, framed by the sun's rays. She squinted trying to make out who the person was. Tags: Seren

Seren had been walking through the forest when she'd come across something that worried her, crouching down she examined the ground her brow furrowing in confusion, the grass had been flattened and disturbed and it looked as if something had dragged itself across the ground. The girls concern only grew as she spotted a couple of spots of blood decorating the grass, whatever or whoever had been here was injured and if they could not stand then it was likely to be serious. Without hesitation she got to her feet and began to follow the trail, she didn't have to go far however before finding the source of the blood and she was surprised to find a young girl sitting propped up against a tree seemingly asleep.
She was dressed in the clothes of a sky person and Seren's first instinct was to turn around and leave the girl to her fate, she was not one of her people and the warrior had no duty to protect her or seek out help for her. However, she couldn't bring herself to look away from the girl, she was just a child and Seren quickly came to the realisation that she couldn't be much older than her brother Gastor, she might even be younger than him. Stepping closer to the child, once again Seren found herself crouching down, hovering a hand in front of her face she discovered that the girl was breathing and didn't know whether to feel relieved or disappointed. Maybe it would've been kinder if the child had slipped away in her sleep, she was obviously injured and needed to see a healer, but Seren could not take her back to her village, they were at war with Skaikru and bringing a sky person back to the village would do more harm than good.
The warrior was just debating whether or not she should leave the girl when a small groan escaped the child, attracting Seren's full attention. As the girl seemed to freeze in fear at the sight of her, the warrior offered her most reassuring smile. "Do not be afraid..." she muttered, remembering what she'd heard about Skaikru only speaking English. "I'm not going to hurt you, what's your name?" she asked, making sure not to touch the child until she made it known that she was not a threat and she had no intention of harming her.

Charlotte wanted to scream when she saw the figure was a Grounder. But her injured ribs wouldn't let her make any noise above a whisper or a groan without setting off a whirlwind of pain. She had seen what the Grounders had done to Jasper, had heard the screams from the pain they had inflicted on him. She wanted to curl up in a ball and die at the foot of the large oak's roots. It would be best. Then she could finish what she had intended to by jumping off that cliff. It felt like an eternity ago, but it couldn't have bern more than 12 hours. It would be best for everyone to die right here. She wouldn't have to feel anymore of the pain that the Grounders might inflict on her. And she wouldn't be able to hurt anyone back at the dropship. The Grounder spoke, but it wasn't threatening or harsh as Charlotte had thought it would be. It was soft and gentle, but that scared her more. She thought it was the calm before the storm. "Do not be afraid," the woman said. Afraid of what, Charlotte wondered. The Grounder herself? The torture she was to be put through? "I'm not going to hurt you, what is your name?" Charlotte didn't understand. Understand why this woman didn't want to hurt her like the other Grounders had hurt Jasper. She couldn't wrap her head around it. Questions ran through her head, making it ache more than before. She gulped, not knowing to reply or not. She supposed since this woman didn't want to hurt her, saying her name couldn't hurt. She tried to speak, but her dried throught made the words sound like nothing. She tried again, and her voice came out, albeit hoarse, "Charlotte. My name is Charlotte." Tags: Seren

Seren waited patiently for the child to speak, she understood that she might not want to speak to her or maybe it was just because she was scared but eventually the girl did talk. Her voice sounded hoarse and sore as and Seren couldn't help but feel sorry for the child. As the girl finally spoke, introducing herself as Charlotte, the warrior dipped her head in acknowledgement "Charlotte... I'm Seren" she told the girl her own name as she shuffled forwards, closing what distance there was between them. Cautiously she reached out with a hand to touch the girls forehead and frowned as she found that she was warm, too warm. "Where does it hurt?" she asked Charlotte as she lowered her hand from the child's forehead and lowered her gaze to look over her body.
The girl had many minor scrapes and bruises littering her skin and they were clearly visible to the warrior, but she was not concerned by them. The thing that concerned her was the internal injuries that the child might have, she was aware that there was a cliff nearby and it looked as if Charlotte had dragged herself from that direction. "Did you fall?" she asked gesturing behind them in the general direction where the cliff lay. She wasn't the first child to have fallen over the edge, many children from her own clan had fallen after playing too close to the cliffs edge, it wasn't common but it happened. "Are your people looking for you?" this question was edged with concern as she glanced over her shoulder, the last thing she needed was for the sky people to discover her hovering over one of their children and to get the wrong idea. Not only would they probably kill her, or worse, but it would probably provoke them to retaliate and maybe they'd attack a village, maybe they'd attack her village. She could not allow that to happen, the sooner she got this child somewhere concealed where she could help her without risk of being discovered by either of their people the better.

"Charlotte." The older woman acknowledged. Charlotte flinched away slightly as Seren put her hand to the delinquent's head. Based on the Grounder's expression, it wasn't at a good temperature. "Where does it hurt?" Charlotte couldn't pinpoint a single place, so she was about to say she hurt everywhere, when a fresh bout of pain racked her body. She hazily noticed the warrior looking over her, probably at her injuries. Charlotte was surprised by the kindness being shown to her. She knew if someone had from the dropship had found a Grounder child, it was unlikely that the kindness would be shown back.
"Did you fall?" Seren said, gesturing to the cliff. Then in hurried tone, "Are your people looking for you?" Charlotte didn't want to retell the story of the last day or so, so she decided to keep the story to the basics, not including her killing Wells. Even Grounders were probably unlikely to help a murderer. "I did fall, but probably not as you think," she said softly. "I need to tell the whole story. When that acid cloud came, I hid in a cave with our leader, Bellamy." She paused, laying out her words I her mind. "I was having nightmare's, so he told me to slay my demons. And I did, just not in the way he intended. I did something," she paused again, trying to come up with a word to convey what she had done. "Bad. And someone else got blamed, got hurt, because of what I did. I couldn't hurt anyone else." She slumped slightly down the tree. "So I jumped. No one else is going to get hurt because of me." She said the last part fiercely. "And they think I'm dead. So no, they're not coming for me." Silent tears tracked their way through the blood and dirt caked on the young girl's face.
"I should have died," she whispered. "It would have been better. I'll probably end up hurting you too. I'm bad luck." She grabbed the knife from where it lay beside her and held the point to her wrist, uncertain. She had been so sure last night, but now she wasn't. Everyone was fine. Except for... She couldn't even think his name. She let go of the knife, letting it fall to the floor. She started sobbing. Thinking of her parents, and Wells, and Murphy, and Clarke, and Bellamy.

Seren couldn't help but feel sorry for the young girl, it seemed like she had been through so much at such a young age and although she was no stranger to the hardships of life on earth, she didn't believe that this girl deserved to feel all of this pain, both physically and emotionally. "We have all done things that we're not proud of to survive, that's the world that we live in Charlotte but you cannot allow your actions to weigh on you because if you do then they'll destroy you" she told the child, concerned that with everything she'd been through she would be unable to move past this. "Pain is a part of life, it is inevitable... People get hurt, people die and there is nothing we can do to stop that, you get used to it" she told the child with a sad smile. Death was an everyday occurrence, every day came more news of death throughout the trikru villages. Seren didn't always know the victim but it didn't make it any easier to know that her people were dying everyday and there was nothing she could do to stop it.
As the tears began to leak from Charlotte's eyes Seren was surprised, grief was not so openly displayed among her people. They couldn't afford to show weakness because in their world if you were weak you died. The warrior saw the girl take out the knife and tensed, uncertain of what she was doing as she hovered the blade over her wrist before discarding it "You are strong Charlotte" she told her firmly as she picked up the knife and slipped it into her belt so that the girl would not get any ideas "choosing death is easy, dying is quick and then it's all over... Staying alive, surviving that's hard, you didn't die when you jumped off of that cliff and you have to believe that you're alive for a reason, it wasn't your time to go" s he examined the girls injured leg, applying gentle pressure to the swollen area. "I am not afraid of getting hurt, I have experienced pain before and there is nothing a child like you could do to me to make me regret helping you, I would hope that if somebody found my brother lying injured in the forest that they'd have the heart to help him" she couldn't abandon her to die, no matter what the child said because the warrior knew that these were not the words of a rational human being, they were the words of a frightened little girl who only knew of the harm that she'd caused and not of the happiness that she must've brought people once upon a time.

Charlotte listened carefully to Seren talk about being strong and getting back up. She knew she wasn't that type of person. She broke down because she couldn't handle anything. The one time she had tried to be strong and slay her demons, she had killed someone. "I'm not that kind of person. I wasn't born tough and selfless. I take the easy way out and do terrible things because of it. Because wherever I go, destruction follows. And I had no idea how to stop. So I did the easy thing. I can't make those hard choices. Not by myself anyway. Anytime I've gone the untrodden path, someones been there to help me, to guide me. But now I have no one. Because they're gone." she didn't need to specify who: her parents. "I grew up with out them, and I was never taught the lessons that parents pass down." She realized her foot had fallen asleep, and tried to shift her weight to wake it back up. She gasped as her head suddenly felt dizzy, most likely from the movement and loss of blood. She placed her hands flat on the ground, and promptly threw up. She started coughing and shaking. She knew she was losing blood fast, and would die if she didn't get help soon. "Help," she croaked out. "I'm losing blood," she said, a lengthy pause between each word. Tags: Seren

"Nobody is born strong" Seren muttered as she watched over the child, the girl just seemed so broken. Seren had met many warriors that had seemingly been broken by the things they had seen and what they had to do, but none of them were ever this young. "Your life is what you make it, to become strong you have to fight, you have to want it" she muttered, this child thought that she needed to tackle everything on her own because she lacked parents, but Seren knew that this wasn't the case. "You do not need parents... I will do my best to help you but as soon as you have recovered from your injuries, you are on your own" the warrior informed the child, biting her lip at the moral dilemma she was facing.
As Charlotte's condition suddenly deteriorated, Seren let out a grunt of effort as she heaved the girl to her feet. She was surprisingly light and the young woman easily managed to scoop her up into her arms "Tell me where the blood is coming from, then I can help you... If I don't know how bad your injuries are then I can do nothing" she muttered as she began to walk with the young girl in her arms, she knew where she was going and where she was going to hide this sky person, however she wasn't a healer and she could not take this child back to her village so she knew that she'd have to help her as best she could alone. "I cannot take you back to my village, if I did then it would end badly for both of us, but I will help you, I promise" she knew that if she didn't stop the bleeding then the girl would die, but she had to reach the cave that she had in mind before she attempted anything, otherwise she risked being discovered by both Skaikru and Trikru.
