The screams were embedded in Charlotte's head. They ripped through the air at random intervals, full of pain and restlessness. Charlotte could probably match the exact pitch of them, as they had been going on for three days. Their source was a delinquent named Jasper, holed up in the dropship. She wanted to get away from the screams, but they echoed around the camp. Even if she covered her ears, the noise pierced through. It seemed the steady hum of machinery on the Ark would be replaced by this.
She looked around the patchwork camp, and noticed a group of older delinquents gearing up. Most likely to go into the forest. It was probably quiet there, she thought. A minute or so after the group had left, she slipped quietly through a part of the wall yet to be closed off.o She knew it would be harder to find solitude once the wall was completed, so now was an opportune time to leave.
She slipped quietly through the green foliage, careful not to step on the sticks, for fear that they would alert someone to their presence. She heard soft voices up ahead, and the quiet oinking of a wild pig. Presumably, the hunting party had found their prize. She slinked closer to the scene, giving her a clear view of the happenings as she stood between two medium sized oaks. As she shifted her weight towards the right, a crackle was heard from beneath her. In her interest, she had forgotten about her quest to be silent.
She froze, and an axe came flying from in front of her, embedding itself in one of the oaks just inches away. Her muscles seized up, and she had to fight the urge to run. The boar squealed away, but she wasn't worried about that. She was worried about the person who's eyes she had locked with

whatever THE HELL WE WANT A rustling in the not so far distance was what had caused Bellamy pause. He gripped the hilt of his ax in preperation. They had been hunting after a wild pig, but there was something else. Something near. Or . . . someone. Skulking through the woods after them. The intenisty of it had caused him to react quickly. So intent on the prey, but the second there was the rustling of leaves, Bellamy swiftly spun around and threw his ax to hit hard in the trunk of the tree. The commotion had set off their would be dinner as the others began to race after it. Food was of the utmost importance.
Furthermore, it was imperative that Bellamy be the one to bring it to camp. If he wished to continue to hold the favor of the crowd, then he needed to prove that he could provide for them. Agitated by the loss, he turned around to walk toward the source of the sound, allowing the other delinquents to continue to hunt. Atom was the only one who stayed behind. As Bellamy neared, he saw a young girl. Obviously an Arker, and he wasn't oblivious to her wrist band. But that was not his primary concern right now. "Who the hell are you?" He questioned, a serious expression on his gaze, a tone that demanded an answer.

The way the older boy looked at Charlotte scared her. It was a strict look. It made it seem as though he thought she had lost him something. Which she had their next meal. A blush colored her small, freckled face. Even she couldn't tell whether it was from embarrassment at being caught watching the hunt, or from costing them her food. He spoke, and it scared her. It sounded like the guards on the Ark. It could have been his tattered guards uniform as well. It reminded her too much of the day the guards had redistributed her parents stuff. When she had assaulted the guard and been sent to the Sky Box. "Who the hell are you?" She gulped, and her voice came out soft, like a mouse's squeak. "C-charlotte." She was still frozen, her muscles locked under his dark, piercing school. Tag: Bellamy Blake

whatever THE HELL WE WANT Charlotte. Her name was unfamiliar, but then again . . . there were a few less than a 100 delinquents running around camp. Bellamy hadn't exactly gotten the chance to get acquainted with each and every one. "I almost killed you," he stated, his voice stern as he pulled out his axe from the tree, holding on to it. His gaze fixated on the young girl. Her age was enough to make him feel that instant protectiveness over her. A reminder . . . of Bellamy's own sister. But he made no show of it. Point was, she was out here, wandering around and he could have thrown an axe at her face rather than the trunk of a tree.
Hence, his words posing as a very real risk; something that had nearly happened. One slight startling noise, could result in death. With the threat of Grounders and god knows what else, everyone was on edge. Ready to react, to throw whatever weapon they had on them. "Why aren't you back at camp?" He further question, wondering what reason she had to be out here; why she had evidently followed them. The seriousness did not leave his tone or his voice. She was going to be treated just like everyone else here. Despite her age, Bellamy made no exceptions. Not . . . outwardly anyway. Deep down, he of course had a soft spot for kids.

Charlotte flinched as the older boy reached his hand next to her to pull the axe out of the tree trunk. "I almost killed you." It wasn't stated as an aoplogy, it was stated as a fact. A cold hard fact. She knew everyone was on edge with the Grounders, but this had to be overkill. Throwing a weapon at everything that moved. Luckily for her, they still needed work on their aim. "Why aren't you back at camp?" The question caught her off guard. "Well, what with that guy who was dying..." She didn't know how to phrase that his screams, his dying, reminded her of when her parents screams were silenced by the vacuum of space when they were floated. "I just," she paused. "I couldn't listen anymore." It wasn't what she really wanted to say, but it was enough. Someone she hadn't noticed before spoke. "There's Grounders out here. It's too dangerous for a little girl," he said. It seemed she hadn't belonged anywhere recently, and this boy was proving it. She didn't fit in the Ark because she was a criminal, and with the other criminals she didn't fit in. "What'd you do to get here?" they would say. "Steal another kids teddy bear?" Everyone had always treated her differently. Except for that one older boy. She looke at him with interest. Bellamy. That was his name. It had finally come to her. "I'm not a little kid!" She spit out the words with anger. She had probably gone through more hardship then him. His parents were probably alive. But shr had finally found someone who didn't treat her different on the ground because of her age. Bellamy. Tags: Bellamy Blake

whatever THE HELL WE WANT Jasper. Bellamy had practically given them a time limit when it came to healing him, giving the go ahead to kill him if he didn't recover. He'd left Murphy somewhat in charge of that. So Bellamy could understand the girl's reluctance to be at camp. A dying delinquent wasn't exactly good for camp morale. Atom went on to say that the Grounders out here made it dangerous, and Charlotte's response to him caused a slight smirk to form on Bellamy's expression. The truth was, none of them were little. Every sent down here been forced to grow up; forced to mature far quicker than any natural age progression and normal experiences would allow.
Bellamy had never been one to coddle the others. They all had to learn; they all needed to be equipped to face what was down here. Coddling them would only be counter productive. "Ok, then," he conceded, the small smirk still dancing on his features as he began to reach into his pocket. "But you can't hunt, without a weapon." With that, he handed Charlotte a dagger, the perfect size for her. One to help her get started.
"Ever kill something before?" An animal. A person. He didn't know her reason for being sent down here. She could be a murderer for all they knew. But it was irrelevant right now. They were all in this; all forced to survive together. When Charlotte shook her head, Bellamy's expression remained. "Well who knows. Maybe you're good at it." Maybe she would find her strength in hunting. Because everyone had something to offer in this camp. With that, Atom turned to follow the others as did Bellamy, though he waited, until he was certain Charlotte was coming along with them.

Charlotte studied Bellamy's face for a response. It was something she had had to grown used to after her parents got floated. To see whether they would toss her aside and consider her a waste, or show kindness. A small smirk played across his face, but his eyes were unreadable. He was a dangerous person, and she didn't know if this was amusement or predatory. "Ok then," he said slightly playfully. She breathed a sigh of relief on the inside. It was amusement. But her amusement vanished when he pulled out the knife and held it out to her. She didn't like weapons. All of them reminded her of the shock sticks used by guardsmen on the Ark. Like the one they had used to subdue her after she "assualted" a guard. She grabbed the short knife by the hilt and weighed it in her hands. It couldn't have been more than a couple grams, but it felt like so much more. "But you can't hunt without a weapon." It became clearer that he wasn't going to baby her. Which made her happy. Maybe with him treating her like she was older, everyone else would too. "Ever kill something before?" She shook her head. Where would she have done that? He probably thought she was here for murder. "Who knows, maybe you're good at it." She looked at the knife, but jerked her head up as a horn sound filled the air. She hadn't heard it before, and it was startling. She looked around for the source of it, and saw an ominous cloud of yellow coming over the treetops. She looked over at Bellamy and tugged his arm. "What is that?" she whispered. Tags: Bellamy Blake

whatever THE HELL WE WANT Everyone stilled when an unfamiliar sound of a horn filled the otherwise somewhat silent area. Bellamy glanced at Atom, Charlotte's question being the one on everyones mind as the attention diverted to the cloud of smoke that seemed to be moving their way. Bellamy's eyes slightly widened at the sight of it, the frozen shock starting to diminish and left only was the instinctive reaction. "RUN!" Bellamy yelled out, for those who were further away hunting after the boar. With that, Bellamy grabbed Charlotte's hand and pulled her as he started to make a dash through the woods.
He could see some of the others running away, Atom not too far from him. But Bellamy wanted to make sure Charlotte was near so that she would not be left out there when whatever the hell that smoke came. He didn't want to risk what it could mean if it made contact with them. "There's a cave up ahead!" He announced, continuing to race through the woods though also remaining at a pace that Charlotte could keep up with. Worst case, he would just throw her over his shoulder and continue to make a run for it but she seemed to be doing a pretty damn good job of keeping up.

It took Charlotte a second or two to register what Bellamy had said. Run. She felt him grab her hand and pull her roughly along, not unkindly. They dashed through the forest, paying no heed to the branches scratching their faces and arms. It took all her stamina to keep up with Bellamy and away from the fog. She almost tripped once, the tip of her shoe catching on a stick. It was Bellamy's hand that kept her upright. They kept running, until Bellamy called out, "There's a cave up ahead!" She held onto the hope that there truly was a cave there. The duo turned a corner, and were faced with an opening in the rock. A cave! Charlotte ran inside, barely registering Atom's cries. She walked over to a hollowed nook in one corner of the cave, suddenly feeling tired. She lay her head against the smoothed rock, and slowly drifted into sleep. Charlotte felt arms hugging her, but they weren't her parents. It was a guardsman, and it was then she realized where her parents were, sealed in the airlock, about to be floated. Tears streamed down her face as tried to escape the guards tight grip. "Mom! Dad!" She yelled, sobbing. A bright red button in the corner started to spin, dizzying her. The Chancellor walked up to it, and slammed his fist into it. Everything turned to slow motion. Her parents waved a sad goodbye as they were suffocated in the emptiness of space, sucked from the space station that had been their home. Charlotte fell to the floor, her soul collapsing on itself. Suddenly, the Chancellor stood over her. He started to laugh, but nothing was funny. It was the maniacal laugh of a murderer. "No!" She yelled.(Italics is in Charlotte's dream) Tags: Bellamy Blake

whatever THE HELL WE WANT Bellamy felt a wave of relief once they got inside the confinement of a cave. He heard a scream, a voice calling out as he paused outside the opening. But there was nothing he could do. The fog, or whatever it was, was rolling by past them. He raised a hand covering his mouth, desperately hoping that the others had found coverage. That the others were safe. Hurriedly making his way inside the tent, he and Charlotte got settled. They didn't have what they needed to start a fire, and the cool night air was strongly felt. He took off his jacket, draping it over Charlotte as a makeshift blanket for it was all he could offer her in this moment.
It would best to wait here for the next little while . . . until they were positive that the fog had passed. The silence indicated that Charlotte had fallen fast asleep and Bellamy moved to lay down. He was a light sleeper, especially down here on the ground. So the moment he heard Charlotte cry out, he jolted into an awakened state, abruptly sitting up. His eyes quickly checked their surroundings to make sure it was no intruder that had caused her alarm . . . but he quickly realized that Charlotte was fast asleep. And that she was haunted by nightmares. "Charlotte," he breathed, each of his hands moving to rest on her knees. "Wake up," he urged, looking at her, waiting to see if she would need more of an awakening than his attempt to do so.
